- alienvenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I'll try to answer some of the questions here, as I am the one who maintains tvRSS.
iPod Support: This is actually possible, but probably not worth doing. tvRSS links to torrents, not actual video files. The torrents contain AVI files (for the most part) which are XVID encoded. It is possible to setup a client to download all the shows in a directory, then set another program to watch this directory and re-encode into iPod fomat any video that appears. Then you'd have a third program to sync the files to your iPod, say at night.
Difference between VTV and EZTV: They are two separate distribution groups. Some of the torrents are the same, but most are different. Sometimes they come out with the same release, but its generally a good idea to pick the torrent for the group who releases the show first. Also, since the torrents are different (but actual files are the same) they have different seeds and different peers, so sometimes the transfer rate might be better from VTV. For the most part, I've noticed that EZTV comes out with shows first, and has fewer seeds. VTV comes might come out with the show later, but has more seeds which usually yields higher transfer rate. EZTV torrents are really popular, and this is good new for downloading files on BitTorrent: the more people the better.
Name changing of feeds: I figured that this would be a good idea to set these feeds apart from other feeds. Although I am open to suggestions, e-mail me at support@tvrss.net and I'll take whatever you want into consideration.
PSP Videos: Neither distribution makes regular releases of torrents in a format understood by PSP.
Feed for The OC: Using the search mechanism, put "The OC" instead of "The O.C." (this may change in the future when I better-normalize show names. Here's the direct URL: http://tvrss.net/search/?distribution_group=combined&show_name=The+OC
If you guys have any more questions, feel free to ask me at support@tvrss.net - student69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16All my TV is automatically downloaded using this sites RSS feeds and uTorrent. It is a great site. Couldn't pirate nearly as much with out it.
- serpentor, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13Anything piracy related is an intant-digg in my book, keep up the great work!!
- Fly1m1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Really nice Search!
- hexix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3uTorrent is definitely a slick bittorrent program. Unfortunately it's windows only (as far as I know). Azureus is java and runs on OS X, Linux, Windows, and probably just about anything else with Java.
It's a shame that Azureus' interface is so busy. If uTorrent got ported to linux/osx that would make me very happy. - alienvenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Older torrents are deleted automatically by Mininova. I have no control over that, sorry. :(
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm generally pretty good at finding things on the internet, but I still can't figure out the difference. heh I came here to ask the same question :)
I have always used eztv and it works for all my shows, so I have never really had to figure out what vtv is. From what I can tell vtv has psp videos and stuff, so maybe thats the difference? - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ah nevermind, just found this:
Distribution Group - Replaces "source" from the old search page. Currently, the three options for this are EZTV, VTV and All (which is both eztv and vtv combined).
I guess the new question is: is there a difference between the episodes between the two release groups? Does one include shows the other one doesn't? - AssultMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Quick tips:
Use http://www.pogdesign.co.uk/cat/ (previously digged) to get a shedule for when your shows are on.
Use uTorrent with RSS on this feed http://tvrss.net/feed/combined/, and you will automatically get quality releases. The key word being automatically.
For those using Azureus and other clients, chech out uTorrent, it beats Azureus hands down for anyone but the power-pirates. - student69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2On public sites maybe, but a lot of private sites have much better torrent life times. I use tvRss for all of my TV torrents but if i need to get something older i revert back to a private site. Also good private sites usually fill requests for older torrents pretty quickly.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, thanks a lot for the help! One question - i have utorrent set to automatically download shows - take, for example, the daily show. If vtv and eztv have different stuff, I would like both of them in my rss feed, but that leads to 2 of the same daily show being downloaded. Is there anything I can do, or should I just stick with one feed?
- Kokichi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is there anyway to change the name of it so it won't keep appearing as "tv-rss feed" or whatever?
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What's the difference between VTV and EZTV? Are they release groups?
- veza, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=297043&cid=20594105
- Mathiias, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't know why I'm helping with this one, but try searching "The OC" or just "OC" As I understand it, the proper spelling of the show has no periods in it. And no, I have never seen the show, I just tend to know my media entertainment.
- velo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0[edit] i hate how the response thingy sometimes doesn't work[/edit]
There are some nice new Functions - but the search algorithms (if you can call them that) are IMHO not that great - they could detect similar shows or other spellings (come on - "stargate sg1" gets no hit... ok, I'll shut up) - alienvenom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Currently, I only use the normalize function before I add teh show into the database. I never thought about adding it to the search string. That's a really good idea. I'll consider it.
- alienvenom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Looks like it came back up sometime this morning. The datacenter was having "connection issues!"
- alienvenom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0 I know, it's down at the moment. It's not because of a high surge of bandwidth usage or anything. The datacenter is having backbone problems. It should be back up fairly soon. Please bear with me.
- bbqribs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Cool, but I get "Torrent does not exist..." for a lot of the stuff I've tried. The new & popular stuff always works, of course. Bittorrent is so 0-day.
- Moldarin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0This site has some serious privacy issue potentials!
- raj_d, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1awesome site
- cgwas, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I can't find a feed for "The O.C." = ( Nerds like dramas too ... ... (seth cohen)
- bigpeeler, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Whoa, hold on a minute. Come over here and let your Uncle Bigpeeler give you a big ol' sloppy Digg.
