- casidnet, on 05/12/2008, -0/+3No, when you advertise on facebook you can set the demographic you want to target, such as Males, 18-22, not in college. Also its probably not the credit card companies doing the targetting but affiliates and lead generation companies.

- icegoddess13, on 05/12/2008, -13/+2Everybody has ads, it's just whether or not you're smart enough to block them. You, sir, are probably one of the smart ones if you're questioning their existence on there. :)
- Kmap, on 05/12/2008, -3/+7He was being sarcastic you moron!
- Zippo, on 05/12/2008, -7/+5I was just thinking the same thing... I've never seen a single ad on Facebook, nor do I clutter my profile with a dozen stupid applications. Sure, I have a couple apps, but I restrict most of them to the left sidebar.
Goooo Adblock! - widgetmaker, on 05/12/2008, -7/+3Even with adblock fb has ads. Just not flashing banner ads.
- anillop, on 05/12/2008, -2/+5I cant even remember the last time I saw an add on the internet. I love firefox.

- HillerMylife, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4You can delete your account, you just have to jump through hoops to do it.

- Kyrgizion, on 05/12/2008, -0/+17Meh. If these young people are only slightly savvy, they will know better than to be sucked in by such ads. Sort of a natural selection in cyberform, if you will. But it's kinda nice to see people are critical about what's on their screens.

- 57girl, on 05/12/2008, -5/+6Smart people will stay away from credit as much a possible, it's just a form of slavery. As for facebook, If I want someone to know about my private life, I'll tell them in person.

And the only people that credit is a problem for is god damn slathering retards who are to stupid to make good choices in life. Maybe you fall into that class, but most people dont.- WoollyMittens, on 05/12/2008, -1/+5How's life from your golden cage, slave-of-the-bank?
- mike17032, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2Pretty damn good, owning a house is sweet.
How is life in your ***** apartment pissing away rent money to your land lord? Or are we still stuck in mommys basement? Have her bring me down a hot pocket too.
- mike17032, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2Pretty damn good, owning a house is sweet.
- 57girl, on 05/13/2008, -0/+0Make no mistake Mike, I own my house and two rental properties, have a credit score of 747 and my car is paid for. I just think 'credit cards' are a racket and should be used sparingly. Just because some of us know how to 'use' credit doesn't mean we are paupers because we don't abuse it. Too many people over extend themselves, then become slaves to never ending interest, especially since the card companies like to manipulate their interest rates to compensate for their losses in other areas these days. Don't jump to too many assumptions.

- zadadka, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1A similar movement is underway in the UK to stop similar adverts appearing on Childrens TV channels. ...as if anyone watching Thomas The Tank Engine & Ben10 has a clue what APR is, let alone be able to sign up for a loan. (Yeah, I know, it's the parent being targeted, but the same probably applies)

- sumdog, on 05/12/2008, -1/+3My-book and Face-space cater to that level of intelligence. Think about it: when you use social networking, you're putting all your personal crap on someone else's site so they can stick ads on it and make money off your content. For $5 ~ $7 a month, you could buy a host, domain and get wordpress or some other blogging software installed.
Social networking caters to the lowest common denominator.- DCstewieG, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2"For $5 ~ $7 a month, you could buy a host, domain and get wordpress or some other blogging software installed."
...and do no networking whatsoever. Just like anything else, there is a whole range of intelligence on Facebook. You can easily use it as a glorified address book with the advantage of timely updates. Whatever money they're making on me for that is fine.
- DCstewieG, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2"For $5 ~ $7 a month, you could buy a host, domain and get wordpress or some other blogging software installed."
- HillerMylife, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1People complaining about "privacy rape," just set your privacy so that only your friends can see your profile. It's not that hard.

- Nanite, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2I read that as "Facebook users warned about aids"
- TheWorm, on 05/12/2008, -1/+1I got a message from a phished account for the first time on Facebook yesterday. That was the reason I left myspace, hopefully they can find a way to keep this from ruining the site.
- djheini, on 05/12/2008, -1/+0Does England really call their credit counseling organizations "debt charities", or is that just how this one refers to itself? I was expecting a debt charity to be like one of those websites where some lady is trying to get donations to help pay off her credit card.
- Lagger, on 05/12/2008, -1/+1Anything to get rid of those ridiculous woome ads off of every page in facebook. "Single Gay Males ready to talk now!"
- acidbathfan, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1Web 3.0 will be all about social debt collecting websites and how you can integrate them into your network with 1 easy to use widget.
- radiofrequency, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1At it's core, facebook is an evil organization that trades Americans' privacy for corporate and government interference. Of course actually using facebook is a choice, but this company's philosophy is in disagreement with the fourth and fourteenth amendments protecting our rights from "unreasonable search and seizure" and right to privacy.
- CoolSilver, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1So instead of warning the users about them and hoping it works, why not just take the damned things down?
Get some new damned ads. - zongamin, on 05/13/2008, -1/+1Facebook has AIDS?
