- smack1700, on 07/01/2009, -0/+10Am I the only one who's tired of using and hearing about Facebook?
I remember when it started my freshman year of undergrad, and was college-only. It was a lot of fun until all the apps and ads came in and anyone was allowed to join.
Now I only keep my account in the event someone sends me a message. For me it's lost its appeal - stonebone4, on 07/01/2009, -0/+8Kind of funny considering there was a recent front page story about how Myspace totally tanked after the big sale and Tom was given money just to shut up and stay at home while the rest of the company goes up in flames. Why on earth would anyone invest in an ever-so-slightly different social networking site that's following the exact same patterns Myspace did? I'm sure Rupert Murdoch is still kicking himself over that debacle.
- diggmeup, on 07/01/2009, -0/+7it's kind of a lose lose situation. Either sell and make users unhappy, or keep and struggle making more profit
- TheSpook, on 07/01/2009, -0/+7That is the Internet circle of life. Great idea gets developed, sold for millions, destroyed, and replaced by another service. Rinse, repeat.
RIP TPB - GaltShrugged, on 07/01/2009, -2/+9Facebook = rotten investment opportunity.
- willowhaus, on 07/01/2009, -0/+7I'm sure they will be thrilled to receive expert advice from someone who apparently doesn't know how to use Google...
- jakobrowning, on 07/01/2009, -0/+5Are you a bot or are you just really, really stupid?
"I'm extremely interested in science and programming so I have a lot of experience in that way..." -You say this in a *****-ton of posts. Who says that, really? Are you for real, are you a bot, or are you just trying to be funny?
I'll tell you right now that you sound absolutely ridiculous. If you have even half of the expertise you claim to have, I'd suggest you take a break from that and take writing class. - jrm125, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4Proof that there's legit money in voyeurism.
- RealmDown, on 07/01/2009, -1/+5I'm tired of reading this comment from this user. Block listed.
- TimtheTaxMan, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3They still have not demonstrated how to make a reliable profit with their business model. I can’t believe anyone would drop this kind of money for a stake in it. Reminds me of 1999.
- tonytroz, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3While you may hate the site, you have to give them credit for turning a small, college-student version of MySpace into a pop culture phenomenon. They deserve to be paid, but for something without a real business model other than advertising, it's definitely risky.
- niradg, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2The reason Facebook isn't doing an IPO is that they're nowhere near profitable. It has nothing to do with the broader stock market as the article implies.
- jellygraph, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2ah, its all about making _more_ profit... i see
- louiebaur, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1That still remains to be seen. At least they are monitized!
- dystra, on 07/01/2009, -1/+2the final countdown.
- supermanred, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Yeah a company with millions of users, most of which have hundreds of hours invested in setting up their profiles just right.... thats a fly by night right?
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1As I'm extremely interested in science and programming, I take offense to your comment.
- zadadka, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1I bid one wooden nickel....being Facebook's true worth.
- eatsushi, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1The peak of my facebook experience was when I became friends with Jenn Sterger. It was like becoming friends with your neighbor on the other side of your dorm and you had an opportunity to see her naked. Then she posed for playboy and I got over it.
- vaporinc, on 07/01/2009, -1/+2I'm with you there. The 50 yr olds in my office started signing it up and my account got deactivated a year ago. I only reactivated it recently for its synergies with the Palm Pre -- and deleted 80% of my friends to only keep the ones I regularly talk to for even planning purposes. We'll see how long it lasts. If I were an investor, I'd get my money now and watch as the site is driven to the ground. Kid, teens and college kids don't want to be on the same social networking site as their parents. Just too much work to try and block all the pictures of beer bongs and pipes from your parents and their friends.
- ceolwulf, on 07/01/2009, -0/+0there's no way for them to make money right now... the only thing they have to sell is a userbase.

- MartinusV, on 07/02/2009, -0/+0I like how Facebook will likely never make a profit, yet it has a valuation of between $6.5 Billion and $10 Billion. Only in Silicon Valley.
- Spire3660, on 07/01/2009, -1/+1Yet again, Zuckerberg's incompetence shines through. He has to be the luckiest dumbass on the planet.
- imikedaman, on 07/01/2009, -2/+1Probably because Facebook is the reason MySpace is tanking. Let's take this back 5 years and make fun of the people for investing in Google because Yahoo! is going down in flames.
- GaltShrugged, on 07/01/2009, -2/+1"Monetized" to lose money you mean. In debt up to their ears. They'll be insolvent within 18 months.
You're that guy that submits all those torrentfreak articles. I can tell you know nothing about making money, producing or any concept of value. - adventureindia, on 07/01/2009, -2/+1Facebook has made it's presence inmost of the countries and is one of the best way to connect with people. I think it's sell is really going to make it's user's unhappy
- imikedaman, on 07/01/2009, -2/+1How did non-college students joining Facebook infringe on your ability to enjoy it? Just don't accept their friend requests.
- 123bucklemyshoe, on 07/01/2009, -7/+3Haha don't worry I know how to use Google haha I was on the original programming team for them but for those who don't know Google is a website that lets you basically find other websites. But Google doesn't have the jobs phone number for Facebook though. Thanks for the comment though but don't worry I know how to use Google haha.
- robert99a, on 07/01/2009, -6/+0Facebook sucks so much. I can't believe some people are gonna get rich with that stupid site.
- 7yler, on 07/01/2009, -8/+1echo!
- 123bucklemyshoe, on 07/01/2009, -14/+2Hi does anyone know the phone number to get a job at Facebook? I'm extremely interested in science and programming so I have a lot of experience in that way and I've noticed some mistakes the Facebook programmers are making so I have a resume with lots of credits not to brag but basically I can call them and give the resume and such. Interesting story.
