- bballbackus, on 12/06/2007, -2/+37I love how he tries to blur out the message id number but you can still read it easily.
- quez, on 12/06/2007, -1/+34And maybe now they'll remove the automatic 'is' from status messages.
- inactive, on 12/06/2007, -4/+23Excellent. Very convenient!
- metateck, on 12/06/2007, -0/+14I'm very surprised they decided to do this. They will get fewer page views now (unless you want to reply I suppose).
- inactive, on 12/06/2007, -1/+9I'm glad you mentioned this! I've still been going to facebook.com like a sucker all day. I had stopped opening emails from Facebook because either way I'd have to go to their site to see what all the fuss was about :)
- sodoh, on 12/06/2007, -3/+11I must be getting old but why don't th friends cut out the middle man and just email each other?
- MScrip, on 12/06/2007, -1/+9Because I didn't have to ask my 200 friends what their e-mail address is. I just found them on Facebook and clicked "Add Friend." Facebook is the internet white pages.
- ell0bo, on 12/06/2007, -2/+8Did he leave his name on there just so he can have more friends on facebook? Maybe he's lonely...
- Nothlit, on 12/06/2007, -0/+6You can have a Facebook account without providing much in the way of personal data.
- jer2eydevil88, on 12/06/2007, -1/+7I hated having to log in just to see what someone sent I think this is a great improvement, now they just need an option to turn it off so people who are used to the old method will stop complaining.
- MuskokasFinest, on 12/06/2007, -1/+7Well, his name is at the top of the article too...
- MScrip, on 12/06/2007, -0/+5> "eventually you won't need Facebook to communicate with your friends, which you didn't need in the first place."
Well, if you go around and collect e-mail addresses from all your friends... then you won't need Facebook. But, it's much easier to find someone on Facebook, click "Add Friend" and you're done. Facebook is an internet directory. There is no e-mail directory. - Laughto, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4Your post reveals a fundamental misunderstanding regarding anything in business, words, or life itself.
- Laughto, on 12/06/2007, -1/+5Noticed this too, makes me happy. I also agree with what he said about improving it even more though, I'd love to reply straight from my e-mail.
- LoudNoise, on 12/06/2007, -1/+5Funny, because it's still there on mine.
- biznatch11, on 12/06/2007, -0/+4The actual definition of a facebook is: "A publication for an organization, such as a school or business, which helps members identify each other; also, an online version of this, with profiles including a picture, name, birthdate, interests, etc." (from dictionary.com). The offline version of a facebook has been around for decades.
- jcaino, on 12/06/2007, -2/+6i really hope you're being sarcastic.

I am on your pipes, checkin youz out... regardless of facebook or not. - MortalynFlux, on 12/06/2007, -0/+3Facebook and email have different functions. Personally, I like the closed system because it's less prone to spam. You can configure your privacy settings to block messages from people not on your friends list. I think that because of this people are more likely to respond to facebook messages than to email, since in regular email the message will likely get drowned out by spam.
Messages with a social tone that are low priority lend themselves well to facebook, as you may not want to interrupt someone's workday just to send them a link to a joke or show them some pictures from last weekend's party. On the other hand, if I needed to tell someone something important, I would text them or just call them, depending on the urgency. In addition, there may be people on your friends list that don't know you or met you just once, and being able to click on your picture and see your profile will remind them of who you are, as opposed to getting email a week after you met them with an address such as iron_man389202@yahoo.com - xParker, on 09/12/2008, -4/+7who the hell has it so you get notifications from facebook on your email?
clutters the ***** out of your email - inactive, on 12/06/2007, -0/+3facebook.com/n/?inbox/readmessage.php&t=6362334139
no go :( - aloser, on 12/06/2007, -1/+4But it's back.
- Procure, on 12/06/2007, -0/+3Its very deceiving. It just puts it back up there when you click out of the box... :-/
- javip, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2sounds like you're not cool enough for anything, full stop
- nallelcm, on 12/06/2007, -1/+3sucks to be you?
- aloser, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2But it makes it asynchronous. I don't have to login to Facebook to see if I have a wallpost/message, it gets pushed to my inbox which is always open (or a click away with Google Notifier).
- MerryMortician, on 12/06/2007, -0/+2meaning he wants facebook traffic.
- platypibri, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2There's this amazing thing you can do to solve this. When Facebook is IN THE TITLE, you can just NOT CLICK ON IT!!!
- LoudNoise, on 12/06/2007, -1/+3Yet you bothered to comment.
- Stalks, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Thats what client message rules are for =]
- DCstewieG, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1There are 300 million of us. Every now and then we don't all agree on something.
- jameschilders, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2Just noticed as well. Very nice.
- kevjett, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1just make a gmail label for them
- lordtyros, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1losers who have few friends.
- Procure, on 12/06/2007, -3/+4I assure you, 'The Lord' had nothing to do with this, or anything but consuming and wasting people's time, beliefs, and lives.
- ecidnac, on 12/07/2007, -1/+2This is why I set up multiple e-mail filters and folders... To hell with passing messages through a third party.
- javip, on 12/07/2007, -0/+1awwww he has no friends
*hug* - Sepherade, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2I got sucked in but I'm going to erase myself....it's all a bit sinister!
- TheKappa, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1Doesn't make Facebook any less evil...
- lebouf, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2That's the first thing I thought. Only way I reckon it makes sense is that they have too much traffic.
- victrola, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1What if your friend posts pics of you and tags them? Your boss can still click on "view friends" or whatever. And if your higher-ups want to be your friends on Facebook, and you have any kind of serious job, you CAN'T say no.
I just don't need EVERYONE I have ever sent an email too seeing who my friends are and where I'm going tomorrow night (like if my friends wirte an invitation on my wall.) - victrola, on 12/06/2007, -3/+4Anyone who signs up for facebook under the email they actually use is an idiot. Why would you want everyone you send email to to be able to look you up and see your party pics on facebook? I can see if you are in high school, but c'mon, if you have a real job and a real life, who would want all that exposure?
- WildTang3nt, on 12/06/2007, -1/+2Meh... if I'm not already at the computer (and very likely already logged into Facebook), I get the messages on my phone through their mobile application. This doesn't seem all that big a deal, honestly. I turn off their notification emails because they just annoy me anyway.
- thinkindiff, on 12/06/2007, -0/+1Read the article before commenting. The addition is that in the actual email it now shows the CONTENTS of the facebook message so you do not have to log into facebook to read it.
- hpymondays, on 12/06/2007, -8/+8The system is not complete until you can actually reply from your email address and just have it forwarded by facebook. So then again, eventually you won't need facebook to communicate with your friends, which you didn't need in the first place. Get the drift? Social networking sites are a pathetic waste of time and I am sick of hearing about Facebook.
- zeroooooooooooo, on 12/06/2007, -1/+1It's about damn time.
- grindmygears, on 12/07/2007, -0/+0Interesting combination. I like the sound of woodfoot. But unless you registered woodfoot.com back in the summer June, someone's beat you to your million dollar idea. Looks like it's back to the dictionary for you to pick out two new random words. Or may I suggest the word jack and ass?
- grindmygears, on 12/07/2007, -0/+0Who adds their coworkers as a Friend?? And if you really need to bump your Friend numbers, give them access to a limited profile and don't let them see your pics.
- victrola, on 12/07/2007, -1/+1What makes you think all facebook users are American? Unless you mean North American.
