- ultraJesus, on 05/31/2008, -6/+28You can't really complain about people getting your info if you voluntarily sign it away.
- letierri, on 05/31/2008, -3/+19Not joining facebook or giving away information that you're not comfortable with being online is an option too.
- AndrewDB, on 05/31/2008, -2/+15You're sharing it with your friends, not companies.. and I think (though I may be wrong) that's what the whole debacle is about.
- inactive, on 05/31/2008, -4/+16Great, more money spent on protecting idiots from themselves.
- AndrewDB, on 05/31/2008, -2/+11I wonder if Canada finds anything significant if another privacy probe will occur in the United States and other nations.
- FatLoser, on 05/31/2008, -1/+9"If it's not Paypal, or a business you know is legit, be wary."
Since when is Paypal a legit company you can trust? - artfuldodga, on 05/31/2008, -4/+11This is stupid, your private information is only as public as YOU make it, Facebook has all the tools in place to protect yourself. Perhaps not adding those 100 untrusted applications might help?
- papervolts, on 05/31/2008, -2/+9You guys have to understand that no one can actually close their Facebook account. Even if you request it by e-mail to permanently to shut it down, they still have it on their servers. Your personal information will be there forever. The last thing I want to do is be famous and have Facebook employees sharing my personal information to others.
Other then that, I don't really mind Facebook. - MavRevMatt, on 05/31/2008, -0/+6Not necessarily true, Facebook's TOS, last I knew at least, allowed them to use your information in conjunction with 3rd parties.
- kxmjb, on 05/31/2008, -0/+6You'll never be famous.
- skinturtle, on 05/31/2008, -0/+5@ captric....
Good then we'll cut you off form ALL Canadian invented technology..such as
Insulin, pacemakers..just those 2 right there should oughta make things a bit difficult.
Then there's, the washing machine, the electron microscope, the telephone, television, television camera, standard time (that's right!), the chocolate bar, basketball, ice hockey, potatoe digger (how ya gonna live without that one?), JAVA, freakin SUPERMAN!, velcro
And much more eh! - GeNe07, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4GIMME SOME OF THAT INTERNET MONAY
- NarrativeCarpet, on 06/01/2008, -0/+3Facebook still gives away your information even if you have it set to private. Employers and school administrators routinely check facebook for information.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3Yeah, now it's "an ***** of a site" with a probe in it. I ought to make a picture of that and put that on FaceBook.
- Raian, on 05/31/2008, -1/+4I think they are probably more concerned that the data could be mined by other foreign governments, or perhaps that facebook itself is working with the US government which is aggregating the data.
If you think about it for a while, you will realize how that could be a bad thing. - Enron1985, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3People need to be careful with how much information they are putting out on the internet, identity theft is no joke!
- Alex.w, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3I use PayPal daily to receive money, and keep that money in there for as short a period as possible. Do not trust them even as far as you could throw them.
- jmignea2, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3Well the problem is that one of your friends could upload the office party photos.
- Alex.w, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2There are very granular controls over who can see what on your profile. People to dumb to click the "privacy" navigation link on the top right do not belong on the internet, never mind "social networks."
- SuperMoses, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2English is a language.
- ellecon, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2I used my Facebook account for about a month until hundreds of emails about quiz challenges and bites and crap started coming through my account. Maybe I'm just not fun, but I find an excess of pap annoying.
- dinostabOMG, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2My foes!! I knew the day would come when they would catch up with me.
- RexxxMaster, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2That total reminds me of star trek when someone asked seven of nine something about the Borg... and she said her brain was on the borg server forever... or something along those lines
- Alex.w, on 05/31/2008, -1/+3There's nothing on my account that I wouldn't want public. I don't see why any one would upload things they didn't want any one to see, seems kinda stupid.
- dekuscrub, on 05/31/2008, -5/+7Enough! The only details visible to others are what you make available. If you don't want someone to see those office party photos, don't upload them!!! This is getting silly. It's common sense people.
- inactive, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1no just that was my experiance so i shared it !! FUC You diggtards !
- doulton, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1it sounds like you don't like your "woman" much
- doulton, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1this is similar to england and their sharp trees. we must protect them all!!!
- KnightHawk2277, on 06/13/2008, -0/+1Facebook is a data mining website in the disguise of a social network.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=OwnTWZ1-UWY - ortucis, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Wow you really hate your country. We are impressed because we care.
- artfuldodga, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Yeah? Then don't type in any private information and press Enter. What private information will they share with third parties then, your name? Most folks names are already public information, along with your address, phone numbers... If we are gonna fight about privacy I think we should of started awhile back. :P
- manitoba98xp, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1I'm not saying that everything in Canada is perfect, but I don't see how Canadians care less about privacy than other nations. There are unauthorized wiretaps in America, does that mean that most Americans don't care about privacy? Certainly not.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1Skeletor!
- graemee, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1All your pictures, most people are not just going to put up just a name.
- TheMarvel, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Dugg, because I believe all Enron employees to be trustworthy and honest.
- Antaries, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1You sign up with sites like facebook, My Space, you run the risk of your info being sold or stolen, misplaced. Don't want your info out there use aliases, fake addresses, fake postal codes (zip codes) Just be smart about it.
- mohamedmansour, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Even if your deleted, facebook still sends your info to employeers, adds, etc. .
- mohamedmansour, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Your data isn't even deleted when you explictly stated to be deleted ... We signed up to share information with our friends not with anyone else ... Even, the applications that facebook opened which normal people develop have like hundreds of thousands of users.... How could we protect our privacy with that?
There should be some level of control - inactive, on 06/03/2008, -1/+1No - you are an arrogant but ingnorant CANADIAN ***** I would assume
- MatthewSBOC, on 06/02/2008, -0/+0Some interesting points here, I'll be watching to see how this plays out..?
- jazzybest, on 06/01/2008, -0/+0Graduates don't realize facebook will use their data for advertising purposes - give me a break.Do they really think facebook is setup for the good of humanity?
- banderwocky, on 06/01/2008, -1/+1Then I think we can take back your Blackberry, the zipper for you jackets and pants, the electron microscope, acrylics, basket ball, heart valve operations (god know fat americans need it), java (OPS for all your cell phones), kerosene, the telephone, the light bulb, the pacemaker (rich fatties need it), Phi (position homing indicator for aircraft), the washing machine, and walkie-talkies. We will also take back Superman. Pretty much leaves you in the dark edges, eh? Enjoy your cave.
- inactive, on 06/02/2008, -1/+1OK - the EAR PIERCER I can believe, afterall, Canada is filled wih Artists, Chefs and *****.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 05/31/2008, -1/+1...and probes tend to hurt. Eeeek!. Damn Canucks tryin' to put their probes in again.
- ellecon, on 06/01/2008, -1/+1Sure you can. Complaining is easy as taking a breath, hypocritical or not.
- inactive, on 05/31/2008, -2/+1So isn't FRENCH !! ***** !!!!!!!!!!!
