- gamebittk, on 12/01/2008, -41/+561Facebook becoming a central login platform is the worst thing to ever happen to the internet. Unfortunately, sites like Digg have chosen to embrace it.
- moviscop, on 12/01/2008, -36/+488thumbs up if you don't give a *****.
- Biohazard6601, on 12/01/2008, -6/+401i dont want my friends to see some of the stories i've dugg...
- sgtcaboose, on 12/01/2008, -15/+256Sup Dawg, I heard you like logging in while your logging in, so we added a Facebook into your Digg
- Chaotix, on 12/01/2008, -8/+228Facebook
1) store as much data as possible about a person
2) ???
3) Profit! - amauldin71, on 12/01/2008, -8/+159I love Digg. I love Facebook. But not necessary together. Some fetishes work the same way.
- SDeluxe, on 12/01/2008, -3/+153I for one, don't welcome our new Facebook overlords. ***** off
- newbyx86, on 12/01/2008, -11/+120You're going to ditch digg because they're allowing you to optionally log in via Facebook...
Right. If anything, it's a great move for digg: the potential for more users. People stumble across digg and go "hey, my facebook login works here!" and they stick around.
It's a horrible move for digg, though: more users from Facebook, who generally struggle with simple things like breathing and blinking. But hey, at least it isn't users from MySpace, right? - fr0ng, on 12/01/2008, -4/+99Now I can't troll the interwebs.
- DukeRev, on 12/01/2008, -4/+89This is bad. We should support OpenID
- amazinasian, on 12/01/2008, -6/+89ಠ_ಠ
- Zervaman, on 12/01/2008, -0/+80I once bought movie tickets on fandango and then I logged into facebook to see that my purchase had been posted on my profile.
Not gonna lie, that was creepy. There's a point when data sharing goes a bit overboard.
Next thing you know, fb will be posting all the movies that I watch on redtube. Er, I mean...what? - Llamainthepool, on 12/01/2008, -3/+81Because Digg users are cut from such different cloth...
- 9bpm9, on 12/01/2008, -2/+77Why would you want your real life friends know you hang out on Digg?
- adrenalmedulla9, on 12/01/2008, -3/+76...so you can log in while you log in!
- the2989, on 12/01/2008, -2/+71lol great, now peoples' real names will be all over the web. At least I'm signed up with different email accounts.
- rpgguy1o1, on 12/01/2008, -2/+63step 2) is "Sell the ***** out of that info to anyone who will buy it"
- JasonHaley, on 12/01/2008, -1/+58I don't want my friends to know I've commented with "fap fap fap" before.
- super_spyder, on 12/01/2008, -0/+53like midgets, and one legged chicks, individually hot, together tragic/comical... I guess this comment is why I should probably keep facebook and digg separate.
- maragarine, on 12/01/2008, -7/+60facebook is creepy.
- Chumpi, on 12/01/2008, -2/+54Eh....more problems.
- lordtyros, on 12/01/2008, -2/+51Are you kidding me? With an influx of people from facebook, the average age of the digg user may be elevated to as high as 17 years old!
- PathDaemon, on 12/01/2008, -0/+42Facebook Connect: Proprietary. Works only if you have a Facebook profile. May not be free to content providers (we may never know).
OpenID: It's a standard. Works with whatever provider you wish, you can even host it yourself. You pick your own level of security. Free. - theholyraptor, on 12/01/2008, -1/+39Real life friends? This is Digg.
- wastern, on 12/01/2008, -0/+35This makes me want to delete my Facebook account. I never wanted one in the first place...
I don't want the people on twitter, digg, or wherever to see my facebook or vise vera. Separate networks, different purposes. This is like a *****, intrusive OpenID - kingtobo, on 12/01/2008, -0/+27SUP DAWG, I HEARD YOU LIKE LOGGING IN, SO WE ADDED FACEBOOK INTO YOUR DIGG SO YOU CAN LOG IN WHILE YOU LOG IN!
Fixed. - maragarine, on 12/01/2008, -0/+27some ppl did the right thing and violated the TOS by using fake names.
- MoClippa, on 12/01/2008, -4/+30Yah count me out as well, this is a major privacy issue that people who are into social networking and all the benefits one gets out of it, but have little understanding of privacy implications will jump on board with. Facebook has already been proven to not be a secure platform, giving potential employers with basic hacking or manipulation skills to access all your private data that you post online (private in that you post it thinking it would be private to you and your immediate social network only) and fire or not hire you because of it.
Politically this also puts you at severe risk, I don't even have to get into that as I'm sure you are all well aware... avoid this guys, glad to see there is consensus to a degree in the comments that that should be the case. Perhaps its fine for the people who only Digg popular culture or entertainment stories... nobody else though. - rabidbob, on 12/01/2008, -1/+27You know you don't HAVE to install them right?
- diggface5000, on 12/01/2008, -0/+23True, but I really wish facebook was filled with digg and bury buttons.
8000th picture of you and your old college friends still hanging out in the same bar- buried.
Any note regarding how you feel about the election- buried.
Using the "it's complicated" relationship choice- buried.
I see potential here. - ffttoteof, on 12/01/2008, -0/+22Sadly open ID is kinda crappy and confusing for normal users.
To log in, I get _redirected_ to another site, then back to the site I'm trying to log into?
I'm sorry, but on the web, most users aren't techies, and you've got 2 seconds to catch their attention before they move on. If it's confusing or too hard to find the information, they surf on. You've lost 'em.
They might see the login form and think "Hey I can log in with my Google/Yahoo/whatever ID, cool!" but then it starts talking about Open ID URLs and redirects them to another site and jesus, why wasn't Open ID implemented as a web service or something to avoid that *****? - utnow, on 12/01/2008, -3/+24lol.... you my dear sir take home the high and mighty-though-uninformed/educated tin-foil hat award.
It's not hacking or platform insecurity if you post something marked for "everyone" and "everyone" is able to see it (and in your example, make responsible hiring or firing decisions based on it).
Kinda like how if you go outside naked and people can see you naked.... it's not because your clothes are suddenly transparent, or because your neighbor has super x-ray vision. it's because you're ***** naked. - DVmaker, on 12/01/2008, -0/+21fap fap fap
- Danltn, on 12/01/2008, -16/+36I, for one, welcome our new Facebook overlords.
Long live your domination over the Internet. - phike, on 12/01/2008, -0/+19I bet a huge portion of diggers already use Facebook.....I don't think the user profile is much different.
- oblique63, on 12/01/2008, -1/+20that sounds frighteningly close to how google works...
then again, google has never gone behind my back and announced to the world that I bought movie tickets online, only to have random unwanted people stalk me and ask me why I didn't invite them... - desertDenizen, on 12/01/2008, -1/+20I would be so ***** if my ***** clients saw how many times I say ***** on digg.
- uptwolait, on 12/01/2008, -4/+22Facebook. Facepalm. Coincidence?
- dharasick, on 12/01/2008, -5/+23REAL friends dork. Have any?
- crushfan, on 12/01/2008, -1/+18Telling them you hang out on Digg isn't the problem----one of them asked my username after I mentioned a story I had seen on Digg, I said something like, real life and the internets are two different things, let them stay that way. Yep, true story.
- drgmdp, on 12/01/2008, -3/+20that's the profit part
- theL3G4CY, on 12/01/2008, -3/+20great... then when google buys facebook all of the internets activities can be stored in one place.
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+16My name really is Mr. Sticky
- Sleepfist, on 12/01/2008, -2/+184... 8... 15... 16... 23... 42...
- Joomal, on 12/01/2008, -1/+16I don't want my friends to see pedobear!
- irishjays, on 12/01/2008, -2/+16Awesome, now that e-mail address from college that hasn't worked in 4 years, can live on!
- stack3r, on 12/01/2008, -0/+14EWww, while this might be a good idea in theory to start linking all this great social network stuff, im getting concerned about the potential of abuse by the people who hold the data.
No thanks, as per usual, i will keep most of my identities seperate on the internet for each place.
I dont trust my own government to sensibly control the internet, why would i trust some nameless company owners or the people they maybe in cohorts with (CIA?).
/tin foil hat - sgtcaboose, on 12/01/2008, -1/+15Oops, that'll teach me to Digg whilst my boss is talking to me :P
- crushfan, on 12/01/2008, -1/+14Facebook: It's now more easy to get your real name indexed on the Internet! Sign up today and lose your identity, get random spam and be 'findable' even if you don't want to in minutes!
- brandonelliott, on 12/01/2008, -1/+13kevin, kevin, kevin (shakes head) i know you have to feed your addiction to weird and expensive herbal teas but digg integrating with facebook? thats like mixing pepperoni and apple sauce, you just don't do it.

What is Digg?
The Digg Toolbar for Firefox lets you Digg, submit content, and keep track of Digg even when you're not on the Digg site. Download the official
