- diggstown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Great deal, but Computer Shopper just isn't what it used to be 15 years ago. You used to be able to heat your home for the entire winter with the bulk of that magazine.
- moistspot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18gd US gets all the good deals, Canada gets shafted again.
Boolsheit I says. - teckjunkie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15only US :( damn.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13FREE STUFF!!! WHOOHOO!
It's Maxim with more pictures, and it's free! Free toilet reading material! - ktrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8No Digg ... I have read some bad reviews on these guys so I am doubtful that they are 100% trustworthy. Check out these reviews: http://www.epinions.com/pr-Online_Stores_Services-MagsForLess_com
Just my 2 cents, but hey, if you feel it is worth a shot, go for it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Anyone that WANTS Stuff that doesn't already have several years worth for free just isn't trying. I did the hwhole "Slick deals" thing a couple years ago. Within 3 months I had Stuff all "paid" for through 2014. Maxim through 2012, FHM through 2009, Blender through 2011. And then, I started getting other magazines like Giant that I never signed up for.
And Stuff, Maxim and Blender are REALLY easy. Just sign up at shopcartusa.com. You get 5 "points" just for signing up. And you can get a subscritpion for 5 points. Then, you refer another e-mail address for an additional 4 points. Use that e-mail to get another subscription. Then refer ANOTHER e-mail for another 4 points. Then use that e-mail for a third subscription, plus your first account now has 8 points. Redeem 5 for a fourth magazine. (The subscriptions add up so you can get several years.) With hotmail and g-mail, you can refer 5 other accounts for get 20 points. This owuld give you five subscriptions from your first account, and one each from the other 5. In the span of 15 minutes or so for the sign ups, you would have 10 subscriptions. Not just Maxim, Blebnder and Stuff. Lots of magazines to choose from. - atrain, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12thats what you get for living in an igloo with a lan cable and a laptop... :P
I'm in canada too, M$ usualy ships to canada as well, but those are the only things I've recieved, and havent got the USB key yet. - ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Magazine subscriptions are often heavily discounted, as much as 70% off the cover price if not greater. So if you anticipate buying it a couple of times a year, it could justify subscribing. More so if they throw in special issues and bonus swag. And some geeks love just watching prices of components as much as they do putting them together.
Also remember, back in Computer Shopper's heydey there "wasn't any" web (if not the internet) to most people. This was the place to look for parts & peripherals. - havaloc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The privacy policy seems ok:

- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4if they really end up sending stuff through this (no pun intended), they can't charge you since it doesn't ask for any real billing info
- whatsthatsmell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3if you are that worried about junk mail, just give them a fake HOME address too!
- __J__, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4you can only have one mag in your cart at a time to use codes...
- chickenman316, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I remember back when Computer Shopper magazine was the size of a metro phonebook. I never understood though why someone would actually pay for a subscription to it. I dont think they are going to do a year's worth of research before buying a computer.
- skunkman62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4OMG! you're right. but who doesnt have my home address?
- UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I like Computer Shopper a lot. They are a good magazine, so I will have to check this out. Another really good computer magazine is CPU (Computer Power User). Kind of expensive, but has very little ads, and caters to power users, obviously.
- Crossmenjeff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"freeoffer" works like i said earlier on a few magazines. it was listed as active for blender
- ReqX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2To those asking if sites like these selling magazines at low costs are too good to be true: they aren't. It's a common tactic used by magazine publishers to increase their circulation numbers so that they can charge more for ads. I've personally ordered several subscriptions from sites such as this.
Don't take that as an endorsement for this site, though. Never used them. :) - thespacepope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The publishers would gladly give them away to increase circulation (and thus, ad revenue)... the problem is, that ads in subscription mags go for a lot more than ads in free mags. So they come up with all kinds of excuses to sell subscriptions at a discount.
- vSanity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you read what he said, then you would see that he got charged twice! Thus it makes it about 100$ in magazine orders. But that is still a lot of magazines! I guess Gunner likes the toilet!
- mdmetzle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i got it to work by submitting it twice with just stuff in my cart
- fatalea1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it would be hard to receive you mag if the publisher didn't have your name and address
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why would people bury this? I am proving something even BETTER than the original submission and it gets modded down?
Everyone is saying how much they want their Stuff and I am giving them a way to get it through 2016 if they want. - Ionik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I read through the 1 out of 5 reviews and they all seem to do with the fact that those people bought magazines and didnt get them. For these subs, we didnt have to give any CC #'s or anything like that so maybe it'll be better?...
- jondoe73, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6freers?
- levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Canada gets shafted again, ahggg.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hmm, I wonder just how true this all is.
There are many 1 out of 5 reviews here: http://www.epinions.com/pr-Online_Stores_Services-MagsForLess
What do you think? - cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4more like free toilet paper...
- Harmless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hey, cardboard, looks like we just missed your birthday... February 7th, 1969
Happy 37th Birthday!!!
Cardboard, im going out on a limb here, but do you live in or around... Puyallup, WA? - MinnesotaTwins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I always use these free magazine offers, and i've never had to pay a dime.
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2the problem is, they keep sending you mags even if you didn't order them, then they try to chrage you. I've already been through this. Besides, Cnet is already sending me free mags.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stuff Magazine, you dirty dirty geeks
(um, i ordered two subscriptions) - Tanman895, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone know the codes for Rolling Stones and Blender????? Thanks!
- JaggedEdge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha oh manl.... im glad i snagged my free order when dealdetectives.com listed this freebie.
- monsieurgrand02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah. Nothing is ever truly free. You always seem to pay for it in some way or another.
There is always a catch.
And you know, I got one of those debt collection agency letters from Computer Shopper Mag too. So its not just Wired. Kinda got me worried. But I actually just ended up paying for the subscription cause I wanted it anyways. - Ionik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it doesnt matter which one you pick, they wont ask you for your info
- Zekaer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Thanks for the tip. I was having the same problem.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have gotten free mags from them before. But they stop sending them after a few issues. It sure wasn't a "1 year subscription."
- pixelwerx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The coupon code "freecs" worked for me just now.
- thespacepope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"The only information we do share is your name and address which we will only submit to the publisher."
So the publisher sells your address instead of magsforless.com? - JustinLeung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The code for Stuff is freestuff
- hakukaji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I ordered from http://www.mags4less.com/, and there turned out to be a problem with my order, so they said they would fix it and then give me a free subscription to another magazine. They were very friendly and i was drowning in magazines!
- CupofDice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What are you talking about? MagsForLess has a 4/5 overall rating, and we do not have the give them our cc numbers.
- kualla, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2All these people talking ***** about magsforless are the ones hustling at the magazine stands and on corner stands. I personally already got like 4 or 5 subscriptions from magsforless without problems.
Some people are saying their customer service is non-existant, well damn, if I was selling mags cheaper than Wal-Mart I don't think I could afford to even pay for a dog to go fetch my morning newspaper ;P - Filoviridae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Waa waa! My feelings got hurted.
- Zekaer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I used a fake email address..... :l
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2gunner...yes...it is possible that they could send you a bill for a renewal. But NOT for hte first year that the site claims is free. IF you are worried, just save the page that said you are getting it for free.
And if they send you a bill for an automatic renewal (and they haven't to me yet) simple bemature about it and write CANCEL and they cannot charge you. Don't be an ass and write ***** like "***** YOU" on it. - djblast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2CPU is such a great mag.
can anyone give me a link to subscribe? I used to only find their mag rarely in CVS or something like that and the issues only came out like 4 times a year. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So if you are worried about them sending a bill and reporting you to a credit agency just give them a fake name.. No need to change your last name just mis-spell your first. As an added bonus you will be able to tell if they sell your name/address to anyone else as any junk mail you get will have the same mis-spelling.. Also they can't report to a credit agency without a SSN unless I am greatly mistaken. but even if I am wrong a fake name would prevent it.
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1CPU is 50 bucks on that website... and subscribing with the card in the mag is $29 FYI and the first 3 issues are free to try without having to pay.
