- iparker, on 02/27/2008, -9/+175***** you comcast, filtering the internet for your own benefit will be your downfall. new internet service providers will come out offering unfiltered internet and people like me will give you the finger and cancel even if it cost 2x as much!
- Soulbow2, on 02/27/2008, -1/+95http://www.theseminal.com/2008/02/26/comcast-pays- ...
They didn't even pay employees, those are people off the street. - RealmDown, on 02/27/2008, -2/+89In cards, this is called "stacking the deck"
Comcast is less than gradually making it's way to the top of the "companies who suck" list. - Phatfiddler, on 02/27/2008, -4/+68If you cant beat 'em, pay your employees to fill their spots!
- MasterThief117, on 02/27/2008, -0/+59First they are filtering the Internet, now they are filtering their hearings. What next?
- jeremyduffy, on 02/27/2008, -0/+47I ordered Verizon to get away from the Comcast idiots.... Of course, it's taking over a month to get installed because Verizon is full of idiots too.
- Shreyasva, on 02/27/2008, -1/+45you get paid to sleep! thats the best job ever.
- h4ckler, on 02/27/2008, -8/+33Taking notes from Fox. Clearly.
- Synthesize, on 02/27/2008, -0/+23***** the RIAA... and Comcast.

- DarkerMaster, on 02/27/2008, -2/+20Its Comcastic!!
- Suzilla, on 02/27/2008, -0/+17Oh, the irony! By packing the room this way, COMCAST actually demonstrated what happens when you stratify the cost of Internet access. In other words, they made the case FOR net neutrality by their own, stupid actions.
- hollywoodphony, on 02/27/2008, -3/+20***** Comcast. I was at the meeting and we did not get paid to sleep. The second we'd doze off, either someone from the company would nudge us and wake us up or some ***** would take a picture of us. Next time I want sixty bucks, I'm just gonna ask my parents for more money.
- mcnasby, on 02/27/2008, -1/+17Do you understand the concept of a regional monopoly?
- scrimaxinc, on 02/27/2008, -0/+15They tried to pass one, but no one could get into the hearing because the opposition paid people to fill the room.
- piper999, on 02/27/2008, -0/+14Let's face it they weren't that far off the top to begin with.
- whatizmyname, on 02/27/2008, -1/+14Comcast sucks. How dare they try to control our internet. *****' *****.
- mcnasby, on 02/27/2008, -0/+12I'm pretty sure it's already up there - right under the RIAA!
...I know, the RIAA is an organization, not a company. ***** the RIAA. - kaelyiesta, on 02/27/2008, -4/+14Reply abuse but I need to vent:
***** COMCAST! - LeeSoong, on 02/27/2008, -3/+12COMCASTIC !
The Reason I canceled cable: 500 channels and nothing to watch.
Go get a local public library card.
Books, CDs, DVDs - all a lot cheaper than cable TV,
and here are some free books too:
http://www.gutenberg.org - Hotrox, on 02/27/2008, -0/+9Oddly enough, I switched to Comcast to get away from Verizon. Lately I'm starting to regret that decision as well.
- wingo123, on 02/27/2008, -1/+9I switched to AT&T to get away from Time Warner. Boy, that was stupid, with all the BS they're talking about doing now. But man, Time Warner is a major piece of crap. They ALL suck, goddamnit!
- Darth, on 02/27/2008, -1/+9So, I will pay the devil's advocate here (correct me if I am wrong), and use this thing as an example of what comcast wants to demonstrate by restricting p2p traffic. Thinking about this above situation logically - comcast paid people to fill in seats at the hearing. Thus using up the bandwidth of the hearing hall/room/whatever. The result of this was people who wanted to be heard and hence were involved in the hearing got left out. So bandwidth of one room was choked up by one party, while other parties were left out. Same thing comcast is trying to say - if one dude in the neighborhood sucks up all the bandwidth in the area, others might not get the service what they are paying for. Exactly what was demonstrated in the room above. On the contrary, we see comcast "paying" those fellows, meaning they were playing the regulators in that case. So if the same thing applies to their Internet service - like they being nudged or paid by peoples like the MPAA/RIAA and also regulating because of their own competing products (which they are according to that FCC filing letter) then they should be held accountable, for that's undesired and non-competitiveness. In either way, I persoanlly dont really like all these US operators. They are more like ***** cartels. All these communications giants.
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -0/+7Oh look, a spammer.
- BinaryDelt, on 02/27/2008, -0/+7"Craig Aaron, a spokesman for Free Press, one of the groups that filed the complaint against Comcast, denounced the company's tactics."
Well I sure hope he rejects them too. - Jade10145, on 02/27/2008, -0/+6I do agree with your sentiments, the only issue is that much of the infrastructure for providing internet is owned by Comcast. Just think about in your neighborhood what options you have for internet. In order for a another ISP to provide service they would have to either lease or build a new infrastructure. Also, I would say with Comcasts current record of blocking out competitors from reaching your eye balls it might become difficult for you to even become aware of other ISP's. Then again, they do play satellite commercials on cable TV, so I guess anything is possible. In essence, what I am trying to say is that Comcast is a monopoly. Either way, I do agree with what you said.
- Cerialthriller, on 02/27/2008, -1/+7twice as much as comcast would be like $150, lol. As for me.. comcast is my only choice for broadband atm..
- darkane, on 02/27/2008, -2/+8You mean the one that was submitted only 3 hours before this was? The one that was a different website and a different article? Don't be an asshat, you're not impressing anyone.
- GhostyBoy, on 02/27/2008, -2/+8They want to turn the internet into another outlet for FoxNews style propaganda.
- derek20cali, on 02/27/2008, -2/+8No, there aren't always alternatives.
- Nougat, on 02/27/2008, -2/+8In Soviet Russia, you filter Comcast!
- inactive, on 02/27/2008, -1/+6I think he just means being dishonest and presenting information that is known to be false as true.
Why don't you rightards get it? It's about integrity.
Oh, that's right. Integrity isn't a rightard virtue. - ronaldinho, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4Duplicate, but dugg again because people need to know about this!
- kaelyiesta, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4You forgot:
4 steps to profit
welcoming some overlord
and in soviet russia, blah blah blah - Nougat, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4No, if I'd said "Comcast filters you," that would be actually true. The joke is to make it opposite. Which I did.
- 63hz, on 02/27/2008, -5/+9"Comcast sucks." Right, that's really easy to say. But say it all you want, as long as you keep paying them to access the internet so you can trash talk them on Digg, I sincerely doubt they care. Comcast doesn't have an alternative to be afraid of. They're the biggest gig in town, and they can really do whatever they want unless we actually DO something about it. Get rid of them! Comcast sucks, so don't subscribe to them anymore. When you pay for their service, you are essentially saying "I agree with your business practices, here's some money. Keep up the good work."
Send them a message by pulling the plug. - stretch611, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4With reports (and pictures) of sleeping in the audience it probably was their employees.
Of course they were on hold waiting to talk to the help desk. - kaelyiesta, on 02/27/2008, -1/+5Ever see the Frank Luntz post debate focus groups?
- SigmaDraconis, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4It's Comcastic!

- pintomp3, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4the smell of fresh cut astroturf.
- hextic, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4And why is there no regulation or rule or law against this?
- lnxfi, on 02/27/2008, -2/+6You, sir, are a moron.
- loopist, on 02/27/2008, -0/+4I just switched to Qwest from Comcast. Best thing I ever did. When I hear crap like this it just makes me feel even better.
- EtherGnat, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3Unfortunately Qwest isn't any better. This is the company that tried to tell me there were no problems with my VOIP service despite having to call me on my cell phone to understand me, then tried to tell me my call quality problems were because I was using Firefox, billed me for replacement equipment (which arrived weeks late) that was supposed to be provided free, and when I tried to switch back to landline service tried to tell me I had never been a Qwest customer (I'd never been anything but) and missed the date the service was supposed to be switched back with no notice.
That's actually the abridged version of a debacle that lasted for months with me calling nearly every day. I actually had to track down the e-mail address for the CEO of Qwest to get some of the problems fixed. - pr0gr4mm3r, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3I'll digg 100 articles on this. The more publicity, the better.
- SQLserver, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3'Liberal' is often used as a term that means:
"Anyone who is smarter then me, and actually thinks".
You used it as such.
Obama is VERY anti internet censorship. - inactive, on 02/27/2008, -1/+4That's great for TV.. but I think the article is referring to INTERNET service.
- loopist, on 02/27/2008, -1/+4I was waiting for the inevitable "This is bush's fault" line. Thanks idiot, you didn't disappoint me ;)
- stretch611, on 02/27/2008, -0/+3On target?!? Lets add lawyers and corrupt politicians (unfortunately that is most politicians)
