- cr4ft, on 10/11/2007, -9/+117Domain squatters should be taxed heavily for every extra domain they carry.
There is absolutely no reason to own 300,000 domain names and have them sitting until people (mostly start-ups) offer you thousands of dollars for them.
They should have a law where you could only own a certain amount of domains, and for every extra domain you get heavily taxed.
I just had to vent, it pisses me off. - fxmcleod, on 10/11/2007, -2/+77http://www.ohyeahwellthisdomainisnt.com/

- Cwo655321, on 10/11/2007, -8/+32i thought loser.com and *****.com were already taken. gratz anyways.
- themoose, on 10/11/2007, -0/+23Domains are like girls. All the good ones are taken, except for ones from exotic countries.
/bash - indicas, on 10/11/2007, -9/+32it's only disgusting because you didn't think of it first, admit it.
- dbarbour, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22As soon as I got wise to the Internet, I made sure to register the .com/.net/.org of my full name. No way was I going to let some ***** have that. I'll need them when I run for President.
- sannm, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21I...Hate...This...Man. Domain squatters are on the same level as spammers, and ruin our countless hours of thought coming up with the perfect name just so they could make a few $$ a year with adsense on a stupid redirect site.
- heavensblade23, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20It is now, bitch.
- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19http://www.yzzerdd.com/ - sigh.. taken
- dotlizard, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19a few years back i was totally broke and lost one of my favorite domains, offtoseethelizard.com to one of those vile piece of ***** expired domain buying *****. it was just a small, simple lyrics site and i loved it dearly. i even bought the 'backorder this domain' thing because they (godaddy) told me i was first in line and would get it for sure. that was, however, a lie -- they then claimed to have sent me an offer to make a bid for my expired domain, and said i didn't answser the offer, and someone outbid me. so the stupid scumbag got it. and now it's evil. i say we round up all the squatters & do unspeakable things to them, then use what's left of them to fertilize, like, our hydroponic gardens or something. ugh, i get so mad.
however i still own my son's first name .com, so there's that. - jono10, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16http://penisland.com
for all your stationary needs. - p0tent1al, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15This is why you make up names.
For instance.
Google.com
Yahoo.com
Flickr.com
Engadget.com
Cnet.com
Facebook.com
Technorati.com
and last but not least
Digg.com - roosterjm2k2, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18I was stoked to get omgpotato.com .... and then my buddy got omgbbqsauce.com ...
Silly names, yes, but they really serve no purpose....they are just for easy access to the server (dedicated remote server, for work) for us to use as playground/testbeds....
If you get a little creative, you really have no problem finding them.
Keep in mind that alot of domain registers (including go-daddy) will sell lists of domains people have searched for and not bought ... and go-daddy will also give squatters lists of domains that are near expiring... the list of reasons to hate godaddy is so huge ... their only redeeming quality is that i get to look at Danica Patrick in their ads... - lroper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13In Australia, you can't just register any .au domain for the sake of it.
.com.au and .net.au require you to be a registered Australian business and the domain has to relate to your business in some way (exact match, acronym, product you sell etc).
.org.au you have to be a registered charity or not-for-profit organisation.
If you are bored and want some exciting reading, have a look at the policies surrounding the .au name space.

- lefolly, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12www.iclaimthisdomaininthenameofspain.com
Shucks, here I was hoping to claim it. - Rekzai, on 10/11/2007, -8/+20They shouldn't allow people to register a domain unless they agree to using it for something useful.
- kevintmckay, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12I just got http://www.simplefit.org great name but .org and somebody is just sitting on the .com and they want 3k for it :(
- RanZom, on 10/11/2007, -6/+16domain squatting fuks should be de-nutted
- screamthenrun, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12dont worry guys... just click on one of the google ads on the side/top of the thread... they offer "Powerful Domains"
- jonathantneal, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12e.g.: http://www.duggdown.com
- snakesonasam, on 10/11/2007, -6/+15yeah its like even http://www.ninja.com is just a site using google co-op,
- Drahkar, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Actually the problem is Registrars like GoDaddy who have been found that if you do a search of a domain name and don't do anything with it, within a day its been registered by a squatter.
- esotericguy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10heres some that aren't taken, yet

sadly, http://pirateninja.com/ was already taken - gnatinator, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12Entrepreneur my ass. Domain squatters are abusing a broken system at the loss of everyone else.
If I ever met Kevin Ham (or whatever his name is) in real life, I'd punch him in his ***** face. - Haplo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7there are long, long lists of expired domain names that can be bought for around 9 USD. If you can afford say 20-30 USD you can buy even more expired domain names. As an extra bonus: the domain might get traffic the moment you start hosting it, or even added to DMOZ.
- omgomgomg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7there's only one more thing to do now.. start dropping consonants. web 3.0
- omgomgomg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7congratulations, you are now a squatter yourself.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8http://pcnames.com
- Pilgrim, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6hahah, checkout www.theninjabay.org
- ogletree, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6It can never be fixed. Any time you define domain parking and put some rule on it the parkers will just change. You really can't define parking. There are a lot of people that put up legit business sites that might as well be parked. There are lots of affiliate marketer sites that look like they are parked.
- munkyxtc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5holy crap, even idkmybffjill.com is taken...
- lieutenantmudd, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7my friends play a game called "string together absurd, dirty words and see if it is a porn site" I would say we would get a real site every ten tries or so
- eunichs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5correct. but dociousaliexpilisticfragicalirup.us is still available.
- lornefs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4fck.tht.com
- monospaced, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8Are you rich?
- kitta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I've been waiting five years for the squatters at kitta.com to forget to pay the yearly fee so I can finally register it (I own kitta.net and kitta.org already.) I've tried contacting them about buying it to no avail. I then tried filling in the offer form on the site, no contact was made and the price just increased - as if it was a never ending auction. After that I did some research and uncovered that it's owned by a Russian company who designed the Soviet Union's first nuclear-powered submarine and developed torpedo-missile armament systems to accommodate cruise missiles, torpedoes, rocket-assisted torpedoes, and mines.
Kind of makes me not want to go to war with them over a domain name. - s1mph0ny, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5So register the name already!
