- fezzler, on 01/20/2008, -4/+32Being from the United States, this is hard for me to grasp.... In Europe, there are smart politicians?
- Redzin, on 01/20/2008, -4/+26Seems like more and more politicians are waking up around Europe. Yay for that :>

- Daggity, on 01/20/2008, -3/+17Pretty soon, we'll have the Pirate Minister? :D
- tg1248, on 01/20/2008, -1/+13This is a great development.. the filesharing revolution is now spreading from Sweden to EU level.
- donutwant, on 01/20/2008, -1/+9If nature has made any one thing less susceptible than all others of exclusive property, it is the action of the thinking power called an idea, which an individual may exclusively possess as long as he keeps it to himself; but the moment it is divulged, it forces itself into the possession of every one, and the receiver cannot dispossess himself of it.
Its peculiar character, too, is that no one possesses the less, because every other possesses the whole of it. He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
That ideas should freely spread from one to another over the globe, for the moral and mutual instruction of man, and improvement of his condition, seems to have been peculiarly and benevolently designed by nature, when she made them, like fire, expansible over all space, without lessening their density in any point, and like the air in which we breathe, move, and have our physical being, incapable of confinement or exclusive appropriation.
Inventions then cannot, in nature, be a subject of property.
– Thomas Jefferson - capiCrimm, on 01/20/2008, -3/+8linux is a consistent torrent, whereas stuff like a HD movie will spike for a week after the dvd(or leak) and then die down linux is always there.
- zapa, on 01/20/2008, -0/+5i'm proud
- acceleration, on 01/20/2008, -2/+7I read your username as "UncleCrapper"... oh wait...
- acceleration, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4It's not a "government" spending money on this, it's two political parties
- absurdist, on 01/20/2008, -3/+7Uhm... although I agree with the sentiment, I'm at a bit of a loss in seeing what that has to do with the article...
- blackjack75, on 01/20/2008, -0/+4They are actually a minority. But at least they exist and have a voice.
- schroeder, on 01/20/2008, -0/+3"Share and enjoy."
- MonarchWastxD, on 01/20/2008, -0/+2Yes - politics here is ACTUALLY separated from religion believe it or not, and any politician who tries to attack healthcare or education or raise war spending is "dugg down", if you will.
- capiCrimm, on 01/20/2008, -1/+3FSM
- MonarchWastxD, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1You just wanted to provoke a reaction in order to sound "with it" didn't you? Pathetic.
- Scheissen, on 01/20/2008, -0/+1You know, you can be against these copyright laws that limit my rights to what I paid for and not be a commie but this is in europe so you're probably right about it being a communist agenda.
- Daggity, on 01/20/2008, -2/+3http://picasaweb.google.com/jokeonyou2004/FunnyPic ...
Yes. - acceleration, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2First of all, it's not "a government", it's two political parties
Secondly, they are not "advocating the demise of copy protection laws", they are against laws that criminilise file sharers and advocating people (and artists) to share content
And thirdly, you sarcastly say people have a "right" to things they've "neither own, made, or were given permission to take". How is downloading something "taking" anything? You are not physically stealing a CD, you are just making a digital copy of a file over the Internet (called downloading). The only thing you could possibly be stealing is possible revenue, but even this argument is dubious because just because you download something doesn't mean you would have paid for it. - karolisonline, on 01/20/2008, -2/+3This is all so great, but.. I'm from Europe and words your are saying about EU politicians are some what surrealistic. There is no such a thing as neoComunists or blood thirsty lobbyist and religion is fully separated from government. Please stop abusing europeans, judge by what You see not what You hear from propaganda or films like eurotrip.
p.s. and there is nothing bad about free medicine and free education and fact that we have laws that protects homeless peple by giving everyone a living space. - static_13, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2Looks that I have for who to vote on the next euro-elections :)
- HardChargerxxx, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1Sophomoric video. Pandering to the electronic music crowd will not carry the day with respect to the issue at hand: high speed transmission of digital data.
+.40 [POW!] - kris33, on 01/20/2008, -1/+2Filesharing is a religion for me, so your comment made me sad :(
- RadonPL, on 01/20/2008, -2/+3Believe it.
- goat2, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1its only a law because of the government.
- Redzin, on 01/23/2008, -0/+0Yeah, cause no one makes music without getting paid, that's fact! Infact, there was no music untill the LP's was invented. Dude, there has always been music, and there always will be.
I don't mind the artists getting payed, but I do mind paying the recording industry. - otw7, on 01/20/2008, -2/+2Wow that makes perfect sense, by downloading music and movies I'm promoting communism.
- cliffski, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1so how does that excuse a torrent of spiderman 3? its not flipping medical research kiddo, its entertainment. get a grip.
- dupswapdrop, on 01/20/2008, -1/+1Hey hand me that byte and maybe that other bit, well come on I am waiting!
- kalle3000, on 01/20/2008, -0/+0When even the pro-filesharing people call a campaign “I Wouldn’t Steal”, then it seems like the music industry has already framed the debate. Because it is not stealing, it is copyright infringement.
- cliffski, on 01/20/2008, -3/+2the revolution where people will supposedly carry on making music and movies without getting paid? yeah, that is sooooo going to work.
what makes you think you are automatically entitled to the fruits of everyone else's labour? - Breepee, on 01/20/2008, -2/+1Yeah, the Europeans, eg. neoCommunists, will come down on anything capitalist, so watch out America!
/sarcasm
Wake up, and smell the coffee, dimwit. - cliffski, on 01/20/2008, -2/+1oh get real. you are taking something without paying for it. even if the cost of distribution is zero, the fixed costs are still sky high. face facts, if everyone did what you did, nobody would pay for movies and thus they could not possibly get made. there is a word for people who take stuff and do so only because other people pay for it. its called leeching.
- retzed, on 01/20/2008, -3/+0Why do people care?
- Saiyurie, on 01/20/2008, -3/+0hooray europe! ...as usual, their bigwigs are smarter than ours. this doesn't need a campaign, but it does need to be said by people in a position of power. *claps*
- UncleCrapper, on 01/20/2008, -4/+1Thanks, I read yours as "*****."
- inactive, on 01/20/2008, -9/+4***** religion
- UncleCrapper, on 01/20/2008, -9/+4I read the title as "European Politicians Launch Pro Wrestling Campaign." Oops.
- simplistics06, on 01/20/2008, -7/+1The music in the video was god awful though...
- DaDrake, on 01/20/2008, -9/+1So a government is advocating the demise of copy protection laws? Ahh .... didn't the communist try something like this. After all, businesses are eager to develop new software when they won't be paid for it.
Oh wait... sorry diggers... you have a "right" to things you neither own, made, or were given permission to take. - fkr3, on 01/20/2008, -13/+2Seems like more and more people are going to sit around on digg and pretend the massively overwhelming use of filesharing is piracy - which is funny cause when a story comes along saying it is they happily sit around and pat each other on the back boasting about how they're contributing to the stats.
Strange how linux is even mentioned in the top 100 torrents on thepiratebay huh.
