Kevin and Alex didn't hear the audio when they reported on Diggnation but calling it a "hack" is totally wrong - it's just a misinterpretation because of the crappy audio in those books. If someone really wanted to hack it they could do a much better job.

- UncleRico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think it has something to do with dialect. people from different regions pronounce words oddly (to people from other regions) and words can be misheard. To me, being from the South, it sounds like "Die", especially if I am not paying close attention. After listening to the slowed down version, I can hear "Go", but you can tell Elmo speaks very nasally. So the next question is, where the crap is Elmo from?

Those little audio synthesizer chips they use in these types of books produce terribly poor quality audio, like a sampling rate of 8 bits at 4KHz. You can hear the crackling and tinnyness that causes these problems quite easily in this clip.

I disagree. Black humor is a fairly sophisticated form of humor intended for adults, many of whom don't even understand it. Aimed at young children, it becomes a sick joke indeed.
