- SixSider, on 10/12/2007, -10/+26Eeep. I did it in 30 seconds. I'm not kidding. I had to spend the next 3 minutes to double check.
- ricree, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12"What makes a maze drawn in this manner more difficult to solve than a traditional "2-D" maze?"
Maybe it has to do with choosing a color scheme for the maze that is painful to look at. - uptown, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12...it's just the newest form of Digg spam. Post some sort of challenge, claiming it's hard to solve ... which garners attention of people that post to prove that they're smart, in the hopes that a percentage of these users will end up clicking the link to the underlying website ... thus bringing more future traffic to that site.
Notice it was submitted by CLIFFosakaJAPAN ... and links to a site run by Dr. Cliff Pickover?
Digg it if you feel like stuffing Cliff's pockets. - teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11This should be proof enough for the people who say it's impossible to sove. http://img181.imageshack.us/my.php?image=einsteinpuzzlesolved4wf.jpg
- doghand, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16me too. But I guess most digg users are in the top percentile. We tend not to compare ourselves to those who aspire to be a manager at burger king, for instance and therefor don't realize most people are significantly less intelligent.
- mogdor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5This is actually a test of stupidity; if you do the maze, then actually think you're smarter than everybody and come on here to brag about it because of how quickly you did it, then congratulations - you're a moron!
- nathanmock, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7You went through a wall. The red line shows the corrected path in your solution:
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/5268/einsteinpuzzlesolved4wf1vb.jpg - sarcoma, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5definately BS... very few could solve in less than 10 mins, because until now very had tried and 90% were stoned and everything was green
- TheFoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7It's not that hard and it has nothing to do with Einstein as near as I can tell. I don't get it.
- aurigus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm no Einstein but I solved in in a minute or 2 using my mouse- solution as above. I don't know if this website is supposed to be funny or what...
Plus what do mazes have to do with Einstein? Did he design this maze?
Anyway thanks for the retro maze action. - CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5It screws with the eyes. I went through several solid layers unbeknownst to me and I wouldn't have figured it out if my brother didn't clue me in on the fact that I passed through those solid layers.
The funny thing is this test doesn't judge intelligence. It's confusing because the walls and the floors are at a very close brightness level, so you're not seeing depth or contrast you're just seeing color differences which fools the eyes. Those of you who claimed to complete it in 30 seconds might want to try their route again and double check if you're passing through walls.
p.s. if you're color blind you probably won't fair very well. - shaun3000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Took me about a second...
http://i2.tinypic.com/wvecle.jpg - norris, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Einstein maze? Einstein?
I could see gifted chimp maze or even stupid human maze but Einstein maze? - Toon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6You went through a wall. Top row, eighth square from the left.
Or were you solving the puzzle for Juggernaut?
Edit: And I see that other people have pointed this out, but nobody else called you the Juggernaut, so I'll leave it. - Knoton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3about 45 seconds and then another minute or so to check, nothing difficult about it...but THIS is:
Supposedly, Albert Einstein wrote this riddle, and said 98% of the world could not solve it.
There are 5 houses in 5 different colors. In each house lives a man with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar or drink the same beverage.
The question is: "Who owns the fish?"
Hints:
* The Brit lives in the red house.
* The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
* The Dane drinks tea.
* The green house is on the left of the white house.
* The green house's owner drinks coffee.
* The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
* The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
* The man living in the center house drinks milk.
* The Norwegian lives in the first house.
* The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
* The man who keeps the horse lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
* The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
* The German smokes Prince.
* The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
* The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water. - JAshbaugh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Einstien hated thinking when not at work. Read this and other interesting facts about him on this website.
http://www.creationrobot.com/?p=1902 - BlindIrishman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Questions for Discussion: #5 Could someone under the influence of marijuana or DMT solve this?"
I'd like to see that study. - sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i think its about luck. i mean, you're not conciously thinking about which door to go through next, you just go through a door and if it hits a dead end, you go back.
some people just dont guess the right door.
unless theres a trick that i dont know? - coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7I took like a few minutes to do it, I'm pretty sure the whole "10 minute" thing is totally false, but it's still interesting nonetheless. I used to love mazes when i was kid.
- hollowmedia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1< 45 seconds and I am an idiot.
- ChoadNamath, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Der Deutsche hat die Fische, Weibchen!
- Havs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I finished in about 2 minutes. It took longer because I kept myself on guard. After the recent abundance of "fake" maze games, where the exorcist head pops up on the screen, I've developed a bit of caution whenever playing them.
- Terc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Excuse me... but did you notice it's a .edu? I would guess most "spam" (which I define as promoting a site to increase web traffic and therefore advertising value on their webspace) would link to site where you could actually use the webspace for profit. This seems to be a professor's webspace on a college server. I could be wrong.
- Terc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I found the puzzle MUCH easier to navigate when the colors were absent. Try it yourself. I've converted the image to greyscale here: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/995/einsteinmazefblackandwhite2ga.jpg
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Brilliant!
- CLIFFosakaJAPAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no relation to this guy
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Made it through in 6 minutes. I guess I'm a little slow. Or possibly just a little more modest than some users here. You know who you are...
- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1NO RLY IT ONLY TOOK 4 SECUNS HONESTLY LOL
I'm not sure why everyone's excited about being able to solve a maze puzzle, and then claiming the Diggers are smart. And what does this have to do with Einstein, other than that the author put his picture on the page? - fgsfds, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2http://youtube.com/watch?v=3MsfFoBhl0M
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You didn't figure the maze out did you? It's ok at least you made $450,000 last year. I'm sure you can pay someone to do it.
- mga911, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1correct. the german has the fish.
- fingiecrookie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Would you post a video for us?"
I'd digg it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ahh yes, but what kind of fish?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Honestly, less than 1 minute. >_
- Terc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The Microsoft maze screensaver can solve this one. 'Nuf said
- Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2There is no fish in the hints...therefore probably no one owns a fish, if the hints are considered the "facts" of the situation. In order for someone on the block to own fish, I think it would have to be stated that someone kept a fish as a pet. Unless the point is to operate by process of elimination and then assume that the last man standing COULD have the fish.
- BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wrong link
http://img75.imageshack.us/img75/5268/einsteinpuzzlesolved4wf1vb.jpg - spy1325, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ze german has ze fish
- bshankle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"Sometimes they like to all come over at the same time."
Would you post a video for us? - Miniman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That wasnt hard at all, but they need to make a bigger image for the slightly blind.
- Coelacanth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wow, I guess I ethier am a certified dumb*** or I just suck at mazes... I thought i did it in 30 seconds with my eyes, but it turned out i went through a few solid walls... I had to take it out and do it in paint in about 7 minutes... :(
- bshankle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.bruceshankle.com/_mgxroot/page_10769.html
1 minute, 28 seconds (with a little help from Photozip and Ctrl+Z) - Myst3r1o, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I did it in under a minute, first try. Don't know how and don't know if I'll ever be able to do it again in that amount of time, but I did it.
- fingiecrookie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think you might have an excellent point there, CornStarch. Everybody seems to be able to do it in under a minute, but maybe we should all double check that by actually drawing the solution as opposed to just imagining it.
- partyonaisle7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It only took me ten days, i must b a genius or something LOL
- MalDON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, thats amazing. I wish I was super smart like you. */sarcasmn*
- alevel27mage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"FRom start, go 6 blocks to the right, one block down, one block right, one block up,two blocks right, one block down, three blocks right, one block up, four blocks to right and finish."
Except for the part where you can't go one block right because there's a SOLID WALL. - Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Chuck Norris would have beat you by knocking down all the walls with a round-house kick.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Took me a few minutes... during a 'retry', I went to an area I thought I couldn't get to... anywho, I definitely checked the image to make sure it wasn't an animated .gif... I was thinking maybe someone was being a jerk, and making this an animated .gif, with some doors changing..
Speaking of which, someone should do that :) - nbuggia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I tried for about 1 minute then got board - maybe that's why so many people can't solve it in ten minutes, they stop trying.
