- tazamore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Ebaum's just mad that he hasn't figured out how to watermark and attach ads to someone elses' DoS attack packets.
- we.are.devo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13www.ebaumsworldsucks.com (Flash Animation)
And for the record, I chatted with him personally over QuickChat a few days ago and when asked if he had any comments on why he steals people's bandwidth his best response was "Why don't you just go away, *****?" - gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Thats ***** he recieved many requests to have that picture and other things removed. He Refused to take stuff down when viacom was on his ass, now he gets a serious saying that he would gladly remove it when he is finally assaulted.
- deaper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This is flat out lies! I have personally had my content stolen from eBaum's world I sent them repeated e-mails asking that they remove the watermark and link back to me or remove the content completly they have done neither. They completly ignore my e-mails.
- deaper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"This guy must be loaded if he has a physical headquarters and security guard for ebaumsworld. On a side note, I can't believe how wrapped up people get in the internet. This whole thing started over a 3 second lindsay lohan animation. Ironically, the person that made the lohan animation doesn't own the copyright to the pictures he used in the animation, but thinks that he owns the work"
No you are incorrect the Lindsay Lohan animation is not the reason this all started. This thing has been seething in the back of people's minds for a long time. The lohan animation was finally the last straw for someone and he made a call on YTMND to do something about it. It is rather ironic that he doesn't own the copyright on the photograph's I agree. But just because that author broke copyright doesn't make it ok for somebody else to do the same.
"I'm a little confused: How did he "steal" this stuff? Isn't he just hosting it? How different is this from Google hosting a funny vid?"
EMPHATICALLY NO! Google hosts funny vids that are sent to them but upon any claim of ownership google will remove the video. However eBaum's world does not do this. I have personally asked for my content to be removed from their site and they have not done so. In addition Google's video product (as of right now) still does not show advertisements on the video so google is not making money off of hosting other's videos. And if you submit a video to google as the owner of that video, Google links to your site from the video. eBaum makes money off of the stolen content, and refuses to link to the originator.
"But to do this crap. Man that's annoying kiddie *****. Grow up. Focus your energy on something else."
WHY would we focus our energy on something else? So we can have THAT stolen from us by eBaum's world as well?
"Sites only stick around when you go to their site and now all anyone wants to do, is go to ebaumsworld and see what's going on. Good job. Way to drive traffic there. Mission accomplished you dumb *****."
Yes he has advertising however his advertising is pay per click. That means he doesn't get money unless people click his ads. So the more people that visit his site and don't click ads it raises his cost and lowers the value of the site. So a ddos that actually loads his site is an effective way at getting at him. - bbBear, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Maybe it's me being pedantic, but you'd think he'd make sure the year is right in the URL....
- Abx0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Eric Bauman's response just proves he is an *****. Yes, the DDoS was over the line, but he doesn't care if people ask him to remove content. You can ask over and over, and he won't remove it, period. He never will, unless you can actually do something. He steals every piece of content on his site. He tries to make out himself as the victim here when he is the one that started it all. He DDoS'd Somethingawful. He stole content and refused to remove it. He ignored every owner of original artwork. He is an *****, and nobody knows why (lol).
- scarfboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7global cyber-terrorism attack! Oh noes!
Seriously, people. There's drama, and then there's *drama*. - JohnP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5How dont you guys get whats wrong with eBaums world? There is no real copyright issue with the animation, but eBaum WATERMARKS other peoples content. This means that the content is being modified and resold as eBaums worlds own work. The people who took the photos should be kicking Erics arse right now, as well as everyone else who contributed to his content.
There is no point in Bauman defending himself, he clearly steals work from around the net (which is accepted practice, mostly) but tries to give the impression that he either owns it, or made it (which justifies his arse being kicked).
I think its time for everyone with work on ebaums world to take legal action, just to make the guy cry. - Juvenall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4hoffmabc
"Ebaumsworld might serve up rehashed ***** from the web but I like to go there and enjoy some of their stuff. "
It's not just "rehashed *****", it's stolen, REBRANDED *****. He takes if from the creator, brands it with this watermark and essentially claims it as his own with NO credit to the author. eBaum and any of the idiots that use the site are grade A ***** that hurt independent content artists. Is this the only site guilty of this? Hell no. It's not even a new problem. However, does his lack of originality make him or his rere supporters any less culpable? Again, hell no. - fr4ncium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://ebaumsworldsucks.com/ebw.html
^ An example of what happenned when a creator asked for his content to be removed from the site (which was put on their without his knowledge or approval) in the ebaumsworld forums. The topic was deleted and the user was banned. - Cam_86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"Not to mention that one of the people against him actually vandalized his office building. It's one thing to play around on the Internet, but it shouldn't pour over into real life."
The mans making ~6k a DAY through ad revenue, with stolen videos, images, animations, etc... You honestly think petty vandalism to the tune of 200$(stab in the dark) is even comparable to what he does? Just cause hes found a loop hole(in that most courts couldn't give 2 ***ks about this stuff, with all the other crap going on in the world) doesn't mean a bit a vigilante justice is wrong.
Also, i don't know how you can STILL be a mod there after seeing all the stuff he does. Talk about lack of morals. - DewayneSmith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"ANyone who "TOOK A STAND" against ebaumsworld is more than half retarded and needs to be shot. damn idiots."
eBaum's World directly linked off Something Awful, in return it drained Something Awful's bandwith. This image was not copyrighted, in fact it wasn't an image at all. It was a script meant to do a direct attack against Something Awful in an attempt to rid them of the internet.
Too bad that backfired against Eric Bauman and the cautionary flash at eBaumsWorldSucks.com was made. The Something Awful crew has a right to be angry, and not from copyright infringment. - DewayneSmith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://lohanoriginal.ytmnd.com/

"Seriously, eBaum publishes stuff like the farting preacher. Who cares if he stole it? We're not talking about masterpieces here.
Who cares."
I ***** care, unlike leechers like you who never made a single piece of ***** in your life. You know what's annoying? Someone stealing something you made, and putting his watermark on it, pretending that it's his. The worse part is that if the image already had a watermark on it, ebaums would remove the watermark and then put his on it.
Stealing something to put on his site: OK as long as you give credit to who made it
Stealing something to put on his site, puts a watermark on it, ruins the picture, pretends that it's his, refuses to remove said stolen content, and makes money off of something I created: That's just messed up - 5blocksfree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2>>Are you serious? LEGAL action? You don't think that's been tried before? Asking him to take it down gets no reply. The "link" to request your stuff doesn't work. When you do ask him too much, he responds by attacking your website(e.g. putting hidden links in his website that loads your website to kill your bandwidth).
Has anyone tried notifying his PROVIDER? Isn't that what the big companies do when they think their copyrighted material is being used without permission? - Lykos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"Not to mention that one of the people against him actually vandalized his office building. It's one thing to play around on the Internet, but it shouldn't pour over into real life."
The internet would probably be a LOT better if everyone knew where everyone else lived. - smilesman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I had read this story from the local newspaper a while back - he's a millionaire off that site:

Small child gets caught stealing. Small child throws massive temper tantrum. World does what world always does when small child has a tantrum: points and laughs! - john23528, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If someone wants their content take of his site then they should take it of. Who said he is making 6k a day. He is making around 14k a day or more.
- jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2*****! They damn well know the original creators have contacted them asking for removal.
- Abx0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He has millions of dollars, made off stolen content, he deserves everything he gets.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah one of the forums I frequented teamed up with YTMND to take down ebaumsworld. At first it was funny, then it just got really sad...
Still, Eric Bauman is an *****. - Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You gotta love attacks like this when Ebaums themselves through their pages have engaed in Dos attacks by inserting code in EVERY one of their pages to load other websites pages and never display them...
- hellomynameisop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1when i lived at my last apartment my LAN got infected and my router got hacked so it was part of a botnet for a couple days. i wish my attacker did something like this! =D
F-U ebaumsworld - gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5oh and sidewalkpilot Ebaum is short for eric bauman the creator of the site it is a site where he steals content from other sites and takes credit for it.
- neverender, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2what a liar.
they still have the dubbed GI Joe clips online even though he received a letter from Hasbro's Legal Dept asking them to remove the content.
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/legal-hasbro.html - Lax32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Seriously, the guy had it coming to him. He has a website full of stolen material combined with tons of ads you would expect to see on a porno site. I feel no remorse for him whatsoever. For forever he has just stolen content and either ignored the origional author or gotten away with it because the author likes the fact that their work gets so many hits. Well, he just happened to screw around with the wrong people this time, and he ended up paying the price.
- FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Don't click, you're just making him ad money.
- TheFjatKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Honestly.. Ebaumsworld SUCKS. i think it's a waste of time that people watch these retarted movie clips of people doing just plain stupid things to themselves so they can get "Recognized" for about 15 minutes.. heh. it's a load of crap.
- AngryGoldfish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Come on ebaumsworld, if you stole thousands of dollars and got pickpocketed some spare change, you're not the victim.
- MrMysterious, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10Regarding the recent attacks on eBaum's World.

-----------------------------
For the last 36-48 hours, ebaumsworld.com has been the victim of a global cyber-terrorism attack allegedly conducted by an alliance of webmasters and their followers who disagree with our company's editorial process (See FAQ below). The attack has come in several forms including:
-a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack;
-Malicious attempts at gaining access to restricted parts of the site;
-Spamming our forum and chat rooms;
-Hacking into admin restricted accounts;
There have also been numerous personal threats made against individual eBaum's World staff members. Most recently, our physical Corporate Headquarters building was vandalized so we've been forced to hire on-site security personnel. We have also opened the dialogue with our local police cyber-crime unit which works very closely with the FBI in matters like this.
We have been working diligently day and night to reduce any ill effect these attacks may have on our users, but you may experience some technical problems or annoyances while you view the site until we finish the ongoing criminal investigation. Please bare with us during this time and rest assured we will be back at 100% very soon.
We want to thank all the people who have helped us through these last few days, especially the other websites and forums that contributed what they could, you know who you are.
FAQ
Q. What is cyber-terrorism?
A. Cyber-terrorism is defined as:
the premeditated use of disruptive activities, or the threat thereof, against computers and/or networks, with the intention to cause harm or further social, ideological, religious, political or similar objectives, or to intimidate any person in furtherance of such objectives.
Q. Why are you under attack?
A. The cyber-terrorists claim that ebaumsworld.com featured an animation created by an individual they represent without the permission of that individual. The animation in question can be viewed here.
Q. Did ebaumsworld.com steal this animation?
A. Absolutely not. We received this animation as a contest submission by someone claiming to be the original author. We have a digitally signed and dated consent and release form that was filled out by the author in question. In fact, it is our policy for ALL content we receive to be accompanied by this consent and release form before we feature it on the site. We also log contact information, the originating IP address and any information given to us about the original creator of any content, including any other proof of origin the author can provide. Beyond all of this, our editorial staff manually researches the origin of the content looking for references to or appearances of the same content on other websites. Any discrepancies are researched fully before a decision to post the material is made.
Q. So now what?
A. Good question. We're hoping these individuals come to their senses and stop the attacks immediately. There's a professional way to handle this situation. There are no grounds for these types of malicious, unethical, ILLEGAL attacks. We honor ALL requests to remove unauthorized material. If any original content creator wants their material removed or wants to be given credit, they can contact us. Contrary to all of the attacks and threats, WE HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY COMMUNICATION FROM ANYONE CLAIMING TO BE THE ORIGINAL AUTHOR OF THE ANIMATION IN QUESTION, OTHER THAN THE USER WHO SUBMITTED IT TO US. IF YOU ARE THE ORIGINAL CREATOR AND WANT IT REMOVED, BY ALL MEANS, PLEASE LET US KNOW. - nicepants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would classify ebaumsworld.com to be a business very similar to a radio or tv station. (Using other people's content, and making money from advertising.) The difference being that a legally-operating radio or TV station must pay the people who produce the content that they air, since they are making money from it. I think ebaumsworld should be no different.
FYI - Ebaum linked directly to a video from my server over a year ago, running up a $700 bandwidth bill. I was able to get it reduced somewhat by my host, but thanks to a couple of changes, ebaum won't be able burn me again. - lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Anyway, what Ebaum does may be okay, legally, but it's _morally_ wrong to be making money off of someone else's work.
And anyway, I wouldn't want to piss off YTMND and SA, those are pretty popular placed for programmers and *ahem* script kiddies or self proclaimed "1337 haxx0rz" and chances are, you will be DDoSed. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1why does anyone care about "ebaums" if there is YouTube.com?
- tvaught, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Please bare with us during this time and rest assured we will be back at 100% very soon."
wait a minute--I'm not baring anything with anyone...
interesting request for a show of solidarity. - deathpasser, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ebaums is sucks, he steals other individual's work to make a profit off of it, totally deserved those massive ddos attacks he's been getting.

- Alphabet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1To adamco. You want people to meet eric bauman first? Here's a little insight for you, you don't need to meet someone to know what they're like.
Abramoff, I don't need to meet him to realize he's a liar, thief, and briber. I don't know where you get your news from adam, but it doens't look like you've been around the internet that long, or have even talked to that many people, or even part of any communities. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if you were even friends with eric, giving him the reach around. Your apathetic attitude is what allows bullies to push other people around in the first place. - Rjx_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This attack hosted by ebaumsworld.com©
