- VashTSPD, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35Wow, that's kinda cool.
- GamerSmurf, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I've noticed this before. But, if you looked more into it, you don't actually bump up/down a comment more than once. Try doing it and you notice it go a few time but refresh and notice that it only did it once.
- kbrower, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15testing this
- kbrower, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12yup you are right
i voted you up to 10
when i refreshed you were only at 4 - Everen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Nevermind. GamerSmurf is correct. If you rapid-fire click the Thumbs Up button 5 times, you'll see +6 (assuming that it was +1 before). Upon refresh, it's +2.
I'm going to shut up now. - MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14It doesn't actually stay that high...I remember doing this in version 2. Refresh the page and you'll see that it only went up by 1.
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This USED to be a bug, they fixed it the day after it was discovered.
Your click only registers once. - seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11cool!
- thogue, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6....? what browser yall using ?
I dont see this happening (safari osx ftw) - kamel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is client-side only. It's not logging thumbs-ups on the server-side.
- Everen, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Yep, it works.
I'm sure that Kevin & Co. will gank this little bug soon. - MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Will this work?
- Everen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Also, the time seems to be a bit off-- I just posted the previous comment not even a minute ago. Digg says that I posted it 6 minutes ago. Hmmm...
- metalrock76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It has been like this since the new comment system was implemented. There were stories about it then, and Kevin confirmed it is only client-side.
- kohlmannj, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Woo, +6!
+1 is soo Web 1.0. - Gryfft, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I notice no one is negged :-D Yeah, if this makes frontpage (even with the knowledge that it doesn't work once the page is refreshed) the top few posters will have LOTS of diggs from people trying it out...
- exoendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2as mentioned previously in this thread... it's just an illusion. This has been discussed many times before on digg. If you rfresh the page you will see that the person only goes up by one.
- Pooley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Aknowledged. And thanks for comments and enlightenment.
As author of the original report, I am bound to say that I was initially (technically) wrong but perhaps this brings up another debate about the whole AJAX thing - that server-side interaction can feel/be portrayed as client-side interaction when it *isn't*.
Or is this just bad AJAX impementation?
I take advice. - exoendo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2do you read?
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't think they will, actually. I reported this a looong time ago.
