- kingUssop, on 12/11/2008, -2/+245New Dream Study Reveals Humans Are Incredibly Perverted
- eredeath, on 12/11/2008, -13/+214This is scary. What is more private than your thoughts and dreams? Technology like this can open the door to "thought crimes" prosecution like in 1984, except more accurate.
- inactive, on 12/11/2008, -6/+134While this could and should be amazing, watch out for all those wet dream images too!
- Dumbledorito, on 12/11/2008, -4/+74So an article about images from the brain contains none of the images the technology produced?
Lame. - Exhibitionist, on 12/11/2008, -0/+69http://i35.tinypic.com/34otzpj.jpg
There's the image from their work - ExofusionX, on 12/11/2008, -2/+63Watch out for them, or record them and watch again.
- ScottMcIntyre, on 12/11/2008, -3/+60I hope it'll come with a rating system like the movies!
- Domitri, on 12/11/2008, -2/+53That's crazy. Not only could they see what we dream, this sounds like it can be used for anything that we visualize in our heads. Is this one of the first steps to "reading" our thoughts?
Though ethical issues aside, I'm also curious about how other people visualize things. There are so many things we could use this for. I've found it impossible to ever understand how someone else (or maybe an animal) thinks. So being able to see what other people are thinking visually on a screen would be awesome. - aolshove, on 12/11/2008, -6/+46*cough* *****! *cough*
- InfinitySnatch, on 12/11/2008, -2/+41It would probably be just as embarrassing to have your English teacher read that comment.
- j0hnc0ry, on 12/11/2008, -5/+44Does anybody else realize that Daily Mail is the UK equivalent of the National Enquirer?
- Topher06, on 12/11/2008, -7/+44I call BS on this.
- Lunarbunny, on 12/11/2008, -3/+36Imagine the porn...
- freezerburn666, on 12/11/2008, -1/+34i bet my cat would be thinking "feed me you sonofabitch, and throw that mouse toy around more often"
- chuckDontSurf, on 12/11/2008, -0/+32And watch out for your wife watching you dream about a four-way with her sister, Jessica Biel, and a midget.
- catpuke, on 12/11/2008, -6/+34won't happen
- hoohaha, on 12/11/2008, -0/+25http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/480/pbf081addre ...
- EricAnderton, on 12/11/2008, -4/+28I disagree.
Technology opens doors.
People choose if they should step through them. - billbugger, on 12/11/2008, -1/+24Sweet, i'll have to record mine so i can remember them. I always forget my dreams. :-\
- skersh, on 12/11/2008, -2/+23Well that was the most depressing thing I've read on digg. It was like high school all over.
- aks123, on 12/12/2008, -1/+22You would probably be amazed by automatic doors then!
- MiddleOfNowhere, on 12/11/2008, -2/+21Before y'all collectively ***** your pants, could you please note that this comes from a source about as reputable as Joe The Basement Blogger?
Really, people. Wake up or grow up.
digg used to be a community of cynical, but highly educated people. Now here is a (fuzzy, to say the least) article about a technology that *may* come to fruition in a hundred year or so, and emo comments like the one above ("Uuuuh! I'm scared! Leave my brain alone!") get 70+ diggs.
Seriously. Have you lost your ***** minds?
Neurology isn't anywhere near reproducing human dreams on an HDTV screen, not even in ***** Japan.
With today's technology, we scan the brain like a three year old kid walking around a 4 GHz workstation, wondering what might go on in there.
And we do not have a ***** clue, except for the occasional blinking light.
Buried for being, let's call a a spade a spade, retarded. - Indierocka, on 12/11/2008, -4/+23I can imagine this being used in interrogations
- A11YND, on 12/11/2008, -1/+19Good news everyone!
- Aphrael, on 12/11/2008, -1/+19Anyone seen Paprika?...
- Hortinstein, on 12/11/2008, -1/+18finally I can watch myself sexing Scarlett Johanson while I orbit Dune doing a bunch of spice surrounded by my ship made of money!
- dandonia, on 12/11/2008, -7/+24Technology can't open those doors, only people can.
- SatNav, on 12/11/2008, -2/+18I disagree.
Technology creates doors.
People choose if they should open them.
yeh, that's it man. - lolwaffle, on 12/11/2008, -3/+19My dreams are better than real life anyway. Even though I always die or am getting embarrassed or chased. At least in my dreams I don't realize my existence is pointless. Sometimes I even have friends or get to see my grampap again. He always disappears though when I ask, "but aren't you dead?" Always have to ruin it...
- freezerburn666, on 12/11/2008, -9/+24oh snap, sounds like something from fringe :P
- Jpeg2600, on 12/11/2008, -1/+16"So, you wanna f*ck somebody else?
- ah, my love, i was just dreaming about it" - angusm, on 12/11/2008, -2/+15Coming soon ... Tivo for your unconscious. I wonder if you'll be able to skip the commercials?
- Paulorific, on 12/11/2008, -1/+14Coming from someone named lolwaffle, dis is sad.
- kraney, on 12/11/2008, -0/+13I would normally be equally skeptical, but since this has porn applications, I'm more optimistic that it could happen.
- MrAsparagus, on 12/11/2008, -2/+14Imagine the possibilities..
Watching a recorded dream from someone else would be phenomenal.. Anal. - diggdatt, on 12/11/2008, -4/+16Dreams are just random *****.
- Trifold, on 12/11/2008, -1/+13Wow amazing technology...I bet in time this might even have non-pornographic purposes! (maybe)
- zetec, on 12/11/2008, -0/+11So... would one theoretically be able to record an acid trip from the "inside"?
Timothy Leary, eat your heart out. - Elranzer, on 12/11/2008, -1/+12Now we'll truly need those tin-foil hats we all make fun of...
- Ockniel, on 12/11/2008, -0/+11I know, the whole article is about an image, and they don't even let us see it?
- fozzymandias, on 12/11/2008, -1/+12sounds like the anime paprika
- ileftfark, on 12/11/2008, -3/+13Jizz in my pajamas.
- chuckDontSurf, on 12/11/2008, -0/+10"Porn drives any new technology. So this one will probably be on the rise."
The market's already starting to swell. - o0joshua0o, on 12/11/2008, -0/+10The MPAA will take notice of your dreams and send you a cease and desist letter.
- supernovanights, on 12/11/2008, -3/+12Analogy fail.
- sjaxso, on 12/11/2008, -1/+10I think the early morning boner is a device to save us from accidentally rolling out of bed.
- se7en11, on 12/11/2008, -0/+9I'm sure our cat thinks I'm the dog's bitch since I have to pick his poop up.
- Exhibitionist, on 12/11/2008, -0/+9The results are for real - they showed people several simple images and were able to intercept "teh neuronz" and reconstruct the images - it's pretty amazing!
Here's the key result from their work:

(S1 is the first person, S2 is the second person they tried) - edrodgers731, on 12/11/2008, -0/+8Absolutely certain to be pure BS. The author stretched the implications of this research beyond recognition.
- TheSabre, on 12/11/2008, -0/+8If they have technology to read your brain waves and interpret dreams, how long before they find a way to replicate brain ways and write to your dreams? What happens when advertisers find a way to actually insert commercials into your dreams? That would be the suck.
