KILLIN' TEH LOLZ. - nandabanaotakun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36Bad man caught.
Bad man cry. - nandabanaotakun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30Crook is a holocaust denier who wants to eliminate fair use. He deserves much worse than the method with which he's been "dealt."
- dtd00d, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Dugg for Canadian Mounties!
- swaggadocio, on 08/20/2008, -3/+27Don't you just love it when people make populist statements without attempting to substantiate them? Meme whores!
- jmcrane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14What a douchebag...
- boombye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Let's hope that some people even know what a meme is. You'd be hard pressed to find an average person that does. Sad as it is.
- tinyogre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: I dugg this story just because it's Dreamhost. Good folks, I've had a low usage personal site (personal email, web page with a couple of hits a day) hosted with 'em for six months, no problems whatsoever, good prices. This story is just one more bit of evidence that they're a good host.
As for high usage sites? No idea. My guess would be that they're good for that too. But that's only a guess. For a small personal site they're awesome. - kalleanka, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Dugg for the guy looking like a retard!
- xelloss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I just signed up, so far they had some hiccups but they actually post whats up and don't leave you in the dark. I really like them, if you look out you can find some cool codes for 97 bucks off and stuff.
- janzendavi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Very much so. I used them for my site for quite some time. Excellent price, excellent service.
- AxeSwinger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9So is dreamhost worth using? I find my self in need of a service provider and that post makes me want to host with them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8RTFA: Fox News has given everyone permission to show that clip. (Which is why Crook suddenly thought he OWNED it...)
- ArthurSucks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I personally like both Dreamhost and Host Monster.
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That dude should never look straight in to the camera. His three quarters view is far better.
- wastern, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7that dude has some crazy eyes
- RedHeadedFreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Absolutely use Dreamhost. I used them for a year when they offered a really cheap deal. Never really used my website enough to justify another year of purchase, but one day I got an email saying it auto renewed! D'oh! But, I emailed them, explained my situation, they very quickly responded to me and refunded my money. I had great service with them while I had a site there, and if I ever needed another host, I'd definitely use them.
And I noticed their update emails were pretty humorous too. - scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I've had no big problems with them so far and their support is great. Needed to contact them a couple times when setting up but they were prompt and have been very reliable.
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's more of a debate show than a news show, from what I can tell.
- TrentTheThief, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What a freaking idiot. That video makes an excellent argument for retroactive abortion, except mister crook is the abortee.
- cawpin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Oh, its that dude. Yeah, I've seen him before. He needs to be taken on a nice stroll into the desert. I live in Arizona, I volunteer to take him.
- Fhwqhgads, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Crook.
Ironic name. - j_bellone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow. Someone didn't READ.
- bmarc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nothing like seeing a guy admit that he was wrong on video.
- frank2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah dreamhost is good people. They've had some minor to moderate outage problems this last year but always are upfront about them. I've been with them for about four years.
- TitaniumJackal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No, as the article says, APTLY named.
It would be ironic if his name were, say, Honest Mike. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Didn't they have a terabyte of transfer per month with like 10 gigs of space for something like $99/year?
- ctishman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That used to be the case, when attention of any kind was at a premium. Negative attention really isn't a good thing anymore.
- Miniman, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10Let me take this time to tell a somewhat personal story, Dreamhost recently ***** me by taking down my site because of one of its hosted files (by someone {we had a free file hosting service} else, not me) Was a lame Trojan. So Dreamhost immediately deleted the file from out account, followed by that, they took down our site, When we noticed something was down, we contacted support, and a member of there support team put out site back up, without knowing what else had gone on. Later that day, a member of there other department claimed that we put out site back up with infected files and he was going to lock us out again. In the long run, he locked us out of our own files for something that there own employees did, and know thousands of other users unrelated, unharmed files got deleted.
Thanks Dreamhost, That was really a dream (a nightmare more specifically) - insovietrussia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Is it common on US television for reporters to attack and insult guests in that way? Obviously this guy deserves far worse, but it only serves to reflect poorly on the reporter.
Then again, it is Fox.
Edit: I was referring to the video in the post btw. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like Dreamhost just because they are down to earth.
- seks03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Never before seen picture of Michael Crook http://www.dailyhaha.com/_pics/uglymonkey.htm
- Matri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Trust us, you've never seen anyone quite like him.
- drepmoreh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He looks like Casper on crack.
- AxeSwinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the info. I opened an account thanks all
- mjsfl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If he's what you consider "kinda ugly," I'd hate to see what meets your standard for "very ugly." ;-)
- Cerium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@janzendavI: Sorry.. I meant to digg you up.. I missed the button.
- mimilena, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2SUMMARY:
Michael Crook, famous for creating a website bashing the US troops and saying that they do not deserve taxpayer's money, tried to shut down websites making fun of him. He became ludicrous during his appearance on Fox and many people started to make fun of him on the internet. He filed DMCA's to try to shut down those websites, but it backfired and, by law, he has to create an apology video. - mdmadph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@nitrodist
Don't know about that, but I have 2 TB of transfer a month and 200 GB of space for $9 a month. Not bad. - Travelsonic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2stopfairuse.info - looks like this person is taking a stab at fair use, even though his beef is with things that don't get covered under fair use.... proves how paranoid he is.
- sirber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://i18.tinypic.com/30j30is.jpg
kinda ugly - Ludwig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Their blog alone makes being a customer worthwhile, and it's free!
- Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Michael Crook is my hero!
not - tdowling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hannity's ad hominems were driving me nuts. Can he not make a bad person look worse without making himself sound like a jackass at the same time?
- whiteEEnerd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I have their lowest plan (L1 I believe) and it has been working great for me. My site was even dugg, on the front page of xbox-scene, etc. all at the same time and it didn't have any problems. A couple times I have tried to access my site and haven't been able to. I contacted them about it and they got back with me very quickly and said it was probably a lot of traffic on the server, and told me if it ever happened again to contact them. Since I contacted them about it, I haven't had any problems.
- alex288288, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hmm...one of my friends is on a rampage bc of somthing Dreamhost is hosting and refusing to take down...jst kinda funny that someone would have dugg this lol
- kezze, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah. I use Dreamhost for a lot of nonimportant personal websites that I'm running. I host all my friends' websites and they pay me back by buying me beer(s).
- digitalkaos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been dreaming about hosts all my life.
Could they not come up with a cooler name? - mvannatter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Good. I'm not impressed. Not even a bit.
- mjsfl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've used them for years and like them. It's all personal preference, though. You get a lot of bang for the buck--hard to beat there. But... if you're someone that needs a lot of hand-holding, phone support, tickets answered in 30 seconds, etc... then, no.
Definitely use a promo code, but I wouldn't use one that gets spammed here--especially by the idiots that claim it's only valid for DIGG users. No such thing. Get one from someone you know that's hosted there or has helped you out in some way (instead of spamming)--or just choose from the 50,000,000,000 or so that Google will bring up.
Also, the $97 promo codes aren't necessarily the best anymore. They now let you mix & match discounts with features (ie., free unique IPs, more space/BW, free domains, etc...). Just depends on what you prefer, but some of those options can add up to a helluva lot more than $97. -
