- CrioKnight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Shame the Marlins are still an awful team thanks to mismanagement. Glad to see that the owner of the Stadium can rub it in their face by spending the $$$ on such a big screen.
:P

:) - multivariate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now if we could just do something about the gof-forsaken dump that is the Orange Bowl...

Its not mismanagement. Maybe if "fans" acutally went to the game, and the loccal officials would build a real ballpark that team would be much better off. And its not the owner of the team that owns the stadium, Wayne Hizinga is part owner of the stadium and Jeffrey Loria is just a tenant. - Bluth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Laces out DAN!
- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Rjcc, In terms of format, Turner Field's is still bigger. Since it's in standard 4:3 format, the physical size is different, thus the height is bigger.
- oepapel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Didn't have the extra cash to go 1080p?"
720p has an ability to go 60fps which is important for fast moving events like sports. Being able to have that perfect freeze frame without blurring is just as important (if not more so) than higher resolution. After all, what good is a high resolution still of a blur?
Until 1080p can go 60fps, sports will stick with 720p. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Didn't have the extra cash to go 1080p?
- Aero1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2we all know who the number one team in the league is anyway
- finnif, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Everybody's moving to vegas. The Marlins, the A's, the Nationals (nee Expos). We're going to have 5 teams in Vegas by 2010!
- mirunit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah I could definitely go for some 360 on that thing.
- aeiou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11080i is not higher resolution than 720p..... interlacing effectively cuts the resolution in half
- INHUMANITY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's what I was thinking too. I wonder how well it will hold up in bad weather in general. I'd be curious to learn what kind of regular maintenance it requires.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1give the marlins a new stadium? are you kidding me? do you remember what happend to the panthers after they got their new arena? wait, do you even remember that we still have a hockey team?
- pad22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think there are two screens. If I saw the video correctly, there are two screens at either end of the stadium. If the stadium is two fields in length, that would make the optimal place to sit at about the 30/40 yard line. Unless you are looking at the closer screen, you'll probably never see pixelation. Just guessing... ?
- pad22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not giant at the distance you'll be watching from. For 720p screens you want a screen that is 5" in size for every foot you are away from the screen. This means that the optimal distance from this screen is about 350 feet. Closer than that and you'll start to see some of the pixels, further away and you start to lose the perceptible detail. Anyone know how far away the seats are from these screens based on their position in the stadium?
- BigPapi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0On the brightside you can see the D-Train pitch for $15.
- Hawk4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No, I don't, but the farthest seats away will be a bit farther than that, most likely. However, that's just the optimal distance. It'll still be impressive a little closer or a little farther away.
Just sucks to have the seats right under it. - oepapel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is almost as big as Frank's 2000 inch TV.
- digx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh, still want your own place to play Marlins? Someone's going to be missing Miami...
- Yet another disgruntled Marlins fan. - tito13kfm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll be the first to admit I understand little about HDTV standards.
But wouldn't such an enormous screen look terrible if only displaying at 720p? Then again I could be completely wrong on this, but wouldn't it be like using a low resolution on a GIANT monitor? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hes out fir the year.
you might see him, but it wont be any new footage - wayjer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://digg.com/technology/World_s_Largest_HD_Screen
Here is a video of it if you are interested - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is the original submission to digg
http://digg.com/technology/World_Largest_HDTV_Unveiled - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why? At the distance you'd be from it, you wouldn't really notice it seeming "bigger".. and if you got closer, the picture would suck. Silly american. Bigger != Better.
Dang, didn't thread correctly.. - JisBOSS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Now when i'm at the dolfin game i can watch Dante get hurt in HD
- intrktevo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wonder how that's going to hold up during hurricane season?
- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would pay to rent this for an hour if they will let me hook my video game consoles up to it.
- MethosVk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not very impressive. Go to Aichi.

- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The appeal ruling hasn't come back yet, so there's still a chance he will play.

- danielrh9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It's still not the biggest. Or the first. That title belongs to the huge display at Turner Field in Atlanta.

A long time Dolphins Fan! - TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I'm sure Vegas will treat the Marlins much better when they move there! ;)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It's bigger than the one at Turner Fieldso...it is the biggest. and it's the first one that big, so it is the first.
In case your calculators is broken it's more than 6000 sq ft vs. 5000-some. Thanks for playing. - tito13kfm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Thank you for the information Pad22. I was unaware of how to find the optimal viewing distance of 720p which will help me determine what size to purchase when I have the extra money. To me the extra lines of resolution provided by 1080i would not be what I want as I would not want the interlaced blurring when playing slowmo or pausing with my DVR.
- faceness007, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1One word: Halo.
