- Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was "doing my own" telephone wiring when I was 5 years old.
- Binaryzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0tehtemper is the lameness here, he is spamming every story...
- WackyT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's not really lame. But seeing how unknowing people run cabling is fun. Especially when they think it's OK to run cabling inside heating ducts.
- Slinker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wouldn't trust most people who do their own wiring. I'm no pro, but I have seen a lot of really poor wiring. And people wonder why the DSL isn't working for them.
- Demagogue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*marked for spamming* He comments almost everything just so he can spam his stupid website...
- binarypower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is pretty lame... who hasn't run ethernet.... and who needs a land based phone anymore with cell phones (even beats voip) because you can get, like, more minutes in the world that you will ever need, have only 1 phone number, and can call long distance and worldwide for less than $70 a month.
- miamiredskin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's pretty funny you posted this. I was using that site a couple of weeks ago b/c we moved into a new build and the directv/phone guy didn't hook the wiring up right for an added phone jack.
- dailyclerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is pretty good. We did our own wiring for our office and home at the recommendation from a phone tech. We were broke college kids that needed 4 lines into our house because we each needed dial up. Man, that was so long ago. He told us how easy it was and how much we could save. All we did was tell the phone company to activate x number of lines. It's easier when you already have one line activated because you can see what colors are in use. It's a bit of trial and error but it beats paying the phone company a couple of hundred bucks to do the install per jack.
- rewritable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about, "He's been pwned."
- SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Used this exact site a couple of years ago when I added a second phone line.
dugg - zombie-m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wish I'd had this info when I got my DSL hooked up. Bookmarked it for next time.
- VesperDEM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with some of the others here, this was a great Digg. Finding info on telephone wiring is really tough some times. This is the kind of Digg I would like to see more of.
- lorax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice, I was just searching google for this exact information - switched to the digg tab and there it was on the front page!
- anagami, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0dugg for future reference when VoIP is a worldwide standard :D
- zelig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...
- terafunker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool, but certainly nothing new or exciting! No f***ing digg!
- Spec8472, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Any Aussies thinking of doing the same, be careful.
Unless you're a licenced/registered cabler (previously an Austel licence), it's illegal (yeah, illegal) to install your own Telephone wiring in Australia.
Telstra will only fix up to the first socket (which is determined by the way the wiring goes). If the fault can be fixed by disconnecting any additional wiring or other non-standard devices (Telstra T1000/T400/T200 phone), they will do so - and you could be up for a Fee for Service charge. - Danny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great Digg! Dugg! Thanks!
- danhuard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"tehtemper is the lameness here, he is spamming every story..."
he's been banned - retcynm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why do you think this is lame?
