- YME1280, on 07/21/2008, -1/+9If MrBabyMan got it on with DivineCaroline they would produce super digg babies that would eventually lead to the downfall of the entire system.
- phreak79, on 07/21/2008, -0/+5It's well known that Digg has a lot of SEO'ers present that look to get either their own sites or those of their clients onto the front page. Some of the premier Diggers get almost 50% of their submissions into popular. Coincidence?
- darkchild82, on 07/21/2008, -0/+4I've also observed off late that they've been skewing their content towards the Digg demographic too. For example: http://digg.com/odd_stuff/Awesome_Animatronic_Dino ... . Yeah, 'cos you know how chicks just love animatronic dinosaurs! Nothing against them though, it's still a great site. It's just kinda lame to see them sell out after they woke up to the greatness that is the 'Digg effect'.
- pgrit154, on 07/21/2008, -1/+5Actually, he has 2 submissions for the site.... creepy eh?
- Seizure, on 07/22/2008, -0/+4For starters, other women.
- canewediggit, on 07/22/2008, -1/+5"I look for their submits because I think it breaks through the noise on Digg and allows me the opportunity to view more good posts vs just the front page or the forever altered upcoming area." - *****. you blind digg your friends submissions in the hopes they will digg yours. you've dugg 40+ articles in the last 1/2 hr or so.
since you dugg 2 basketball articles (conveniently both from the same submitter) tell me where you think the usa team will finish and what other teams will give us the biggest challenge. since it interests you and all..... - canewediggit, on 07/22/2008, -1/+4we lost at fiba.
- MTessa, on 07/21/2008, -5/+8YME1280 thank you for shouting me this story. Since I'm named in it I hope you don't mind if I respond.
First the blog post mentions that I post the majority of my submits from DivineCaroline. You are correct. I like Digg but don't have time to make a career out of it. I like DivineCaroline as a site and as a resource to post to Digg from. Since anyone can publish stories there I find a better assortment and possibility of a quality story for Digg. It's also not as competitive as trying to be the first to hit something from Yahoo news or Huffington Post. However, this has actually begun to change. Many top users have beaten me to post in the last few months. I've also noticed new users posting as well.
Second you intimated that there was improper Digging. I am not aware of any. I like many diggers have friends. I look for their submits because I think it breaks through the noise on Digg and allows me the opportunity to view more good posts vs just the front page or the forever altered upcoming area. I miss the old one.
Anyway, I hope that offers some info on me. As for DivineCaroline I looked to see if what you said “153 front pages” was a lot. Di66 shows the top sources for the last 365 days here. http://di66.net/top-sites-365d-by-posts.html
It shows DivineCaroline as 35th in the rankings with actually 168 front pages. I didn’t find 35th to be that out of the ordinary for a site with such broad content. On the other hand it seemed incredible that sites like engadget, gizmodo and huffingtonpost could beat out resource sites like flickr. BTW, I like all these sites and haven’t ever thought to worry about their ranking before.
I think Digg is a lot of fun. I like that I see content from a ton of different sites and yes sometimes I see the same sites from the same users. I kind of rely on it with some sites. Reader’s Digest (rd.com) and Weburbanist are perfect examples. Whenever I see a post from suxmonkey, skored or diggleague I know they will have found the best on those sites and it won’t just be any post.
On that note, I have come to digg your stories in the past. I hope that doesn’t mean I’m colluding. Again thank you for shouting me the story. I hope I was able to offer something to this discussion. - gbarberi, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2Great to here; we need more regurgitated blogspam around here. /sarcasm
I came across a few posts of divine caroline (that hit FP). While not nice to judge the whole site on the basis of such a small sample, the ones I saw were crap and/or blogscrapes. - gbarberi, on 07/22/2008, -0/+2*Great to hear
... ***** - Tomboys, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Well I have to tell you that as a female this doesn't bother me one bit. It's nice to see a females voice go popular on digg. and 24% of millions is a whole lot of females.
- bstory, on 07/21/2008, -0/+1women are evil? who'd of thunk it???
- MTessa, on 07/22/2008, -2/+2Hmm. I recall us being quite dominant. Here is an article from the Washington Post as well.

I'm sorry I couldn't locate the scores. I realize that would have been more helpful. Even the FIBA site is a mess IMHO.
If you are speaking of the U18 men's you are correct. We lost to Argentina a few days ago. However, even in U18 we were winning by rather large spreads until then.
I saw your profile said Miami. I hope you are having nice weather today and that you aren't effected by the tropical storms. I guess this is the season. Stay safe if it does blow through. - MTessa, on 07/22/2008, -3/+2I'm actually quite excited about the Olympics and our basketball team. My sons and I will be watching. We dominated at FIBA but I'm hoping for more at the Olympics. I think we have a great team and have continued to dominate the sport for some time. I will say I have fallen off the Kobe Bryant band wagon since his private issues and squabbles on court have come to play.
I'll be watching the first game against China. What a way to start.
