- PistolSO, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4Good article. A three-way competition between iTunes, Amazon and Nokia could be very interesting. I also hope I can get DRM-free music from Warner or Universal soon through iTunes(I already upgraded my EMI stuff and I love it)
- benguild, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4I used to pirate *****. I still do, but if I like an album, I will go out and buy it. In the past month I've purchased about 40 CDs from the record store in my town. I like the vibe of going in there, looking whats new, and having the collection physically on my shelf. Beats a whole bunch of folders not necessarily at CD quality...
- niczar, on 12/28/2007, -0/+3Nokia can't even be fscked to implement FAST FORWARD(*) on their phone's mp3 players. They're not going be much of a challenge, trust me.
(*) The forward button exists, it just isn't fast by any stretch of the imagination. It takes 5 minutes to move forward 10 min in a podcast, no kidding. - tendonut, on 12/28/2007, -0/+2Try as hard as you can to find FLAC files dude. I'll never go back to MP3s if I can help it.
- sparced, on 12/28/2007, -0/+1I shop at Boomkat.com and Bleep.com, because I'm super cool and have great taste.
- scabbers, on 12/28/2007, -2/+3I'll choose the pirate way.
- tendonut, on 12/28/2007, -0/+1Yar har fiddle dee dee, being a pirate is alright to be
- skywake, on 12/28/2007, -0/+1If you have ***** taste in music that's fine just don't pirate the good music because they will stop making it. Its the same with TV, if there is nothing on don't watch the crap turn it off. If you download Futurama and Heroes but then watch Big Brother on TV next year you will get 24/7 Reality TV and nothing else!
- macaddct1984, on 12/28/2007, -0/+1I'm an Apple fanboy and I gotta say, the Amazon MP3 store is definitely my first go-to place for buying songs.
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -0/+1there will always be good music. that's the thing, people automatically think that musicians make a killing from cd sales.....they do not. thats probably where the least amount of their money comes from. the big labels take the majority of the 20 bucks you pay for a cd. the artists see next to nothing from that sale. if artists dont sell cd's it doesnt mean that they will stop making good music. music is an art, and it's these people's passion. a true artist just doesnt stop painting because their works arent selling...
- mrspin, on 12/28/2007, -0/+1Anybody have any idea why this got buried?
- CanadianGuy, on 12/28/2007, -2/+2It's too late, the RIAA screwed up when they sued Napster (and RIO remember them) out of existence. People will pirate music out of hate for them because afterall it doesn't hurt the artists anyway.
- benclark007, on 12/28/2007, -2/+0It's a pirate's life for me.
- gl77, on 03/31/2008, -4/+2dont pay a dime for music ever again! do your shopping at the pirate bay!
