- Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -37/+222I've a confession to make. I digged before checking out the screenshots.
- Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+180Those have got to be the clearest "blurry" pictures I've ever seen....
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -12/+120Believe it or not, we already have one:
http://digg.com/apple - Xeworlebi, on 07/25/2008, -7/+111They should build the duggmirror right in the site.
- sundancekid503, on 10/12/2007, -6/+103World News?? Uh oh.. here come the *real* trolls.......
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -17/+111Sorry for the reply abuse, here are the direct links to the images.

Noice. - ntwrkguy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+91the pictures of the screen add the "spy shot" aspect to it that makes it look "uber1337", yo.
- owenkun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+57Man, there goes my ability to feel all superior when someone posts news that isn't tech related. :crosses arms, emo-mode on:
- theotheragentm, on 10/12/2007, -7/+60Why take a picture and be artsy? Why not a screenshot so we can really see what's going on here?
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -11/+61Looks good, if this is legit...
- ellingswin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+46I am glad that no big changes were made. It looks sleaker and hopefully, with broader topics intergrated into the system, digg can improve in quality and quantity of users.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+57Will there be a Fanboi section?
- version30.x, on 10/12/2007, -5/+44Maybe they want to reduce any notions that the screen grab may have been Shopped...
- nord, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40I would prefer Digg to stay in the 21st.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -6/+38I think the best thing would be for digg to make a script, so when you click on a story, it launches a PHP (or whatever this site is written in) script, and if the server can't access the said site within 15 seconds, it stops trying and gives you a list of possible mirrors.
Actually, someone BESIDES Digg could do this, and then create a greasemonkey script/their own Firefox extension to utilize it. - Wolfbeta, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35Sweet a radial gradient on the "# diggs" button. Take that you outdated linear gradient!
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -5/+36You can tell it's V3, because it says "beta" everywhere.
- aptget, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28What's the "hang on" thing in the first screenshot?
- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -10/+33many users hate duggmirror and prefer other caching methods - like coral cache.
Building in duggmirror right into the site might also open them up for major legal fights with people... nobody will likely sue duggmirror because there is nothing to get from them... - Mejogid, on 10/12/2007, -12/+32"I for one welcome our new overlords"
I wish people would stop saying that at every illogical oppurtunity. I'm not too sure who the overlords are in this case either. Well, that other guy's comment got rated well because he used it so I guess it works for everyone, right?
(just a little pet-peeve) - curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24Nice, looks legit, hopefully it is! I like the new GUI, and can't wait to see World News, and Business News, among other sections to be added. Nice to see Digg finally branching out into other media categories. That's awesome if this comes out in a week! Also, found it interesting earlier to see that limewire's website took the Digg GUI! Digg is definitely going places! Can't wait to see what other features they are adding in Digg v3.0! Keep up the good work Kevin and company!
- vbsurfer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24When does digg this v3 become active?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23> I've a confession to make. I digged before checking out the screenshots.
Don't worry, everyone diggs before they actually follow the link. How else could so much crap end up on the front page? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+30Doesn't look all that amazing to me. I hope they still offer the front page like they do now, only the top dugg recent stories. Keep it simple.
- ntwrkguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16and hopefully as a result, fellow community members won't be as snobby and assinine to each other.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17or shop the screen, then take a picture of it.....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Nice find! Can't wait to see this in action.
- tdkme, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15cuz it is digg. and anything digg, we digg. you digg?
- bluephoenix, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16I predict that this will actually decrease the popularity of the site, I don't need digg to give me all the news I need, that's why I have an RSS reader attached to CNN, yahoo, espn, metafilter etc.... I use digg now for the latest in tech and programming resources and occasionally there's good insight in the comments. I don't need to read 12 year old kids comments on world news nor in business. This is why newsvine hasn't taken off....essentially digg will turn into a bulkier version of the Bulletin Board system that runs on myspace....which is rather sad. However I hope it at least makes money for Kevin and Co. so maybe they can start other tech related projects.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Is it ironic that you don't know how to use the word irony?
- owenkun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12@ntwrkguy
Nah, instead I can just comment about "Remember in the good 'ol Digg v2 days when we wouldn't tolerate this stuff?" :wistful sigh: - Chort, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Well, for the people that don't want this spoiled, there's nothing stopping them from NOT clicking on the story.
- DanSheldon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12>> Forget about a design overhaul, we need a user holocaust.
Someone using the holocaust to imply the death of people he has differing opinions with getting modded down?
I'd say the users are just fine. - jakejarvis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I wonder if this'll affect Diggnation or not.
- nature, on 10/12/2007, -23/+32Will the forums join the 20th century and actually implement proper threading in the comments section?
- valour, on 10/12/2007, -11/+19How useful would that be, though? When Web publishers realize that they aren't getting any traffic from Digg anymore because of the caches and mirrors of their content, they'll start blocking Digg, or (like me) blocking the caching services. My site blocks both Coral Cache and Duggmirror. If one of my articles gets Dugg, my reward for writing it (and the reason you can read it for free) is getting the actual link to my site posted. If that doesn't happen, then the only way you'll have access to sites like mine is through lame third-party blog links... and you hate that, right? I'm sure some snarky ***** will reply to this with a comment about how my articles aren't that important and are infrequently linked here (4 stories in the past 6 months, I think), but if you think that this sentiment is isolated to me, you're in for a disappointment.
We're not asking for money, or putting some ***** DRM into our articles so that you can only read them on our sites. All we're asking for is credit and traffic. If you take that away, then Web publishers like me will have no incentive to not block Digg, and the only stories you will read here will be from The Register, The Inquirer, CNet, and the other big media companies that don't care about incoming links.
Quit being so damned selfish. - nature, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15I know that most of you idiots can't recognize sarcasm, but websites and message boards have had proper threading for well over a decade. Which would put us in the 20th century. But please, keep denying what a POS the current comment setup is. It's not like any conversations here are worth reading anyways.
XOXO - javierror, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Don't you think?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18I for one welcome the lack of slashdot memes on Digg.
- kalphegor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10they can ping coral cache server ever time a story is promoted to the front page and provide a link to website coral cache version
comments (xxx) | blog this | email this | coral cache | category: xxx | problem? - jared9985, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I agree with you. I think the vast majority of diggs users (atleast I would hope) initially started visiting digg because it was a great souce for tech news.
The downside of all of these new sections popping up is digg starts to lose its concentration on technology. Personally if digg stayed _true_ to tech I would be a happy man. That is whyI love digg...technology concentrated news.
However the upside of having these additional sections is I will no longer have to look at horribly written Bush bashing articles that get submitted... now they will atleast be in there own political section and not mixed in with tech news I actually want to read
we shall see I guess, digg v3 should be interesting either way - billybob476, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Maybe an idea would be to have an app pinging the servers hosting stories on the front page once every five minutes or something. Once the pings start timing out, display the cache links. We could even mark the stories as DUGG.
- FederalSource, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I agree. It's interesting going to Digg to find the newest and most interesting technology news, but I feel like the site loses its point when people are going to link to other news. People are going to see who can link the fastest to the latest DrudgeReport headline, which is already linking from somewhere else. Doesn't make sense, and on DiggNation, what are Kevin and Alex going to debate world events. Come on!
- wired4u, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Well at least it is not in an endless beta, unlike Google
- 15charmaxwtf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Well, don't read the other sections.
- amish, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It looks as sleek as transformation from xp to vista :)
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8that's a very good question to pose. Will diggnation continue to just cover tech stories (i hope it stays this way) or is the show going to turn into just a news show?
- Recrofne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yeah, print screen FTW.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5World News (and the other expansion categories) are finally going to free up Digg to all stories, and kill off the "this isn't tech news" trolls. That's fine by me.

What is Digg?
