    A lot of people who either are kids, or act like kids, get a personal sense of power from the Internet because they can do and say anything they want, without retribution. Everyone knows you can't send a punch to the face in an email, so they feel they can get away with it.

    That may be true (and I respect that) but their are a lot of people on Digg now that have 1 track, bias minds that won't take part in intellectual debate. Instead they will digg down anything they don't like and erase traces of valid comments because they don't agree with it.

I look at people like bonlebon and he, along with other top diggers submit at least 100 stories per day. Even out the field a little.

    * Become a top user by creating alot of accounts, digg yourself to the frontpage and you will gain friends
    * Submit at the right time (submit seems to work at best, when everybody is bashing something)

    The mistake you and many kids make is that by thinking any of this... this... 'contributing', somehow makes you an 'adult'. All this 'social networking' web stuff is bs. Do you really think the comments written on digg amount to a hill of beans? hint: they don't.

    So much of these sites have so many kids writing on them. Just wait till they grow up and get real responsibilities... they'll be lucky to find an hour a day to 'surf'. And then when you do, it's mostly for quick info, and bargain internet shopping. Then it's back to real life. Work, taxes, sleep, work, taxes, sleep.

    Any article titles that have the following words in the title is likely by one of kiddie punk wannabe's. Digg needs to add some of these words to the permanent block list for titles, I'm serious!
    - BEST, COOLEST, HOTEST (almost all words ending in EST).
    - AMAZING, AWESOME, COOL
    - TOP XX
    - EVER

    Type of things that give a clue the comment is from some young punk:
    - End of comment has a bunch of CAPITALIZED texting words like PLZ THNK K and so on to make them look K00L.
    - At use of the words: retard, retarded, tard, owned.
    - Using shortened versions of words commonly used in texting.
    - Replacing numbers in words, such as THR33.
    - Replacing similar sounding letters in words, such as K00L.
    - Having a cool handle that most adults would not have: PimpMyBitches.
    - Any manglish (mangled english) that make them sound like a rapper / hip hop wanna-be.
    - Digg down people because you can't handle the truth.

  • BlackNapkins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Your average Digg user is a 15 year old who becomes an atheist to rebel against his parents under the guise as being "sophisticated" by reading Richard Dawkins, a mac user whose sole reason for switching is because "lol microsoft is for those business people like on the commercials" (if not a mac user an Ubuntu user who proclaims to all of his friends how much more advanced Linux is than their corporate windows box and proudly exclaims to the Digg world the newest list of Top 10 UNIX commands he found on a blog), an attention whore who counts his submissions and ridicules others because they promote their own site here when they don't know the first thing about economics.

    On the other end is a lowly IT sector employee in cubicle 5ac who spends his money on thinkgeek.com so he can have a usb desklamp.

    That leaves the hip college kid who is "ahead of the pack" because he is taking advanced Java classes while all his friends are taking business. He brands himself a "geek" because "no one understands him". He posts with joy a picture of "the best sunrise he has ever seen" HI RES (1040X768).

    If you don't submit something or make positive comments about anything that has a fanboy base (ie Al Sharpton, Ubuntu, Wii, iPhone, atheism, or anything else that makes these kids feel like they know something) then you get ridiculed and dugg down.

I also disapprove of the comment digg, since sometimes immature users digg comments down, thus hiding the message just because they disapprove or do not agree with it. Pure democracy has gone too far. I'm expecting diggers to digg this comment down to -200 diggs right now.
