- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46They should also add a hole to the front. They could call it the "Wanket"...best blanket for pr0n ;)
- dirtyfratboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36Original digg link:
http://www.digg.com/gaming/The_best_blanket_for_playing_video_games - dootisterhans, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27but in the article, it mentioned appearing on digg first and then being picked up by other sites. commence with the masturbatory back-slapping.
- dashifen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Because it's easier to buy one from someone else if you have no skills at sewing. Plus, it made my wife, who's constantly cold in the evenings, very happy :)
- Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Eh I have a bathrobe and it doesn't move well on a couch it gets all tangled up....so no.
- ghelton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15You cant share the sleaves of a bathrobe with your girlfriend like you could with the slanket. Of course some of you younger digglets wouldn't know about that.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15What does this say about the buying habits of Digg users?
Worse yet, what does this say about Digg users in general?
I think I'll make an add-on to the game blanket, maybe a combination feeding tube / colostomy bag so you never have to move at all... - hspr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Where have you been ?
- ddpruitt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Does this mean we can expect a rush of DiggSpam now?
- geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I had the same thought, but honestly, is it really a bad thing if a new and interesting product gets attention that it otherwise wouldn't? It's not like there's behind the scenes payola going on to get this stuff on the frontpage. It's the Digg users who find the product interesting that promote it to the frontpage.
- Mininday, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Sorry, Haven't gone out and purchased my first sewing machine yet. I'll get right on that.
They had better get a patent on it, before the big boys start selling them. - KicktheDonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I actually think that's a brillant idea. Perhaps with all the sales, they'll be able to reduce production costs, and sell them for cheaper.
Or, I suppose you could get a friend whose good with a sewing machine to throw one together for you from 2 or 3 fleese throws. - GeneralChang, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11lol, I almost forgotten about this had it not been for the hard trashing it took in the comments section. but seriously...
Blanket with sleeves....
For those lazy to read the comments of the original thread here are the jems
"They need to make one with 3 holes called the "wanket""
"I already have one of these, it's called a "Jacket.""
"Regular blanket + wireless controller = better than explaining to visitors what a 'slanket' is."
"...then I realized it was 65 bucks..."
Yes, this is where digg is heading. One Big Giant Spam Hole. - hijinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6have you ever heard of time == money.. not everyone knows how to sew.. so the time to learn and the slow time it would take to actually create it would take a lot of time.. time i could be doing something else.. like playing video games in my slanket or watching porn
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The Wanket....holy crap that's brilliant. Funniest thing I've heard all day.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yea, and wifey's hands are free for, um, other things. Eh, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean, know what I mean, say no more, SAY NO MORE!
- tocksin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7you'll need something to keep yourself warm while sewing. and it's hard to do with that without one. catch-22...
- NtroP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7My wife reads out loud to me in the evening while I'm cooking dinner. It's a great way for us to be together. I get to satisfy my craving for books an cooking and my wife and I have something to talk about other that how crappy our day was. We've been doing this for 20 years.
The problem is, like many women, she gets cold easily when she's just sitting. She always complained that regular blankets "had holes" that let in cold air when she moved around, reached for her drink, etc. She also didn't like her bathrobe because it would always fall open at the front and didn't cover her feet.
I bought her a slanket and she absolutely loves it. In fact, she's away at school for six weeks and in spite of having limited space for packing, she insisted on taking it with her. - thegoodknife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6im suprised no one posted this link: http://www.theslanket.com/
- itsme7g, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6DIY coffee that would be a better start for most before trying out a sewing machine. With the money you save from Starbucks you can afford the Slanket.
- rodbibeau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Not all of us maxed out our sewing skills.....
Id buy it. - egometry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7While DIY is awesome, sometimes it's just easier to fire-and-forget a purchase, and reap the benefits of your desire when it comes in. Especially if you're doing a purchase decision while busy doing something else.
Not that I bought one of these, but that's the justification I use on book and software purchases all the time. Viva la intarweb commerce.
Anyways, it's neat that digg helped a small business take off. I wonder how big Adagio was before diggnatin, and how much business they reap in from the deals, etc. Or how much Scott evest got from their TWiT offer a bit ago... - TraumaPill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5http://jscms.jrn.columbia.edu/cns/2006-02-28/fido-theslanket
A better article link. It looks like this article was the source for the digged article.
I also find myself wondering how high their sales were. And what their projected sales are. - Funfetus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Re: all the comments about price/diy --
A quick froogle search reveals that this is about twice the price of the average fleece blanket, and about twice the size of the average fleece blanket. So, fair enough. AND it has sleeves. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You know, this shouldn't surprise Digg users all that much that this company was helped so much by the interest it received on Digg. I mean, look at what Digg did for PriceRitePhoto!
...oh, wait, bad example. - glassjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Another similar idea.
http://www.digg.com/design/New_sleeping_bag_means_you_never_have_to_get_out_of_bed_again_ - liquidedge, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6See folks? Digger's do actually have money. Just make something that's not like everything else out there. Potential Digg.com advertisers take note.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There's nothing wrong with buying it professionally made from someone else. From the looks of it, it's a really good blanket in its own right. Just happens to have sleeves.
- konkushn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I bought one of these for my wife and I have gotten a lot of mileage out of it. All I have to do is ask, "How do you like your Slanket?" She starts raving about it and then I am in the clear for another day or two. :)
I haven't seen something made so well. The fabric they use is really lightweight, but locks in the heat like you wouldn't believe!! - MountainFlip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4My favorite memory from this digg was people calling it the "Wanket" hahahahaha
Glad to see they are holding strong. - meechp123, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4good for them and good for Digg!
- glassjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@johndi - That pretty much summarizes Alienware's philosophy.
- eclectro, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6The home page shows a better picture of this;
http://www.thefreedomblanket.com/
Saldly, it does look like the slanket is a copy. But "slanket" is a catchier name.
the price is much better with the freedom blanket, and they say it is a high grade fleece that feels like cashmire. - antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hold on, people actually bought that crap?
- Dimecross, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"...maybe a combination feeding tube / colostomy bag so you never have to move at all..."
Shush, you! Patent pending! >:( - polvo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The pictures of that guy on the freedom blanket site are soooooooo lame. He looks like a monk.My vote goes for the slanket.
- zeldafan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I've had the slanket website bookmarked for a while, but everytime I went to order they were down waiting for more slankets to sell.
- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7This is lame... This company is a dupe. They lauched their website, and threw it up on digg.com that same day. They didn't mention anything in the title about how it was a new lauch, and nobody figured out that it was spam fast enough to kill it...
Meanwhile, another company has been making these things for a lot longer now. But they haven't spammed digg, so maybe you haven't heard of them...
http://digg.com/deals/The_original_arm-hole_blanket,_still_half-the_price_of_the_wanket - dialdn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I bought one. My wife and I love it! I think I play GRAW on 360 better with it on :-)
- burnt1ce85, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Man... digg has changed so much in so many ways. i have been here in the very beginning and im proud to see all of this.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It appears that Freedomblanket.com is a one person operation. These complaints stem from delayed service. My recent contact with them has been more positive, but I am still awaiting shipment of my product after 2 months.
- Progression, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2gotamd- You sir...are a genius! I'm still laughing at your comment.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Digg Army for the win! I'd certainly consider buying one of these things if the price dropped... looks like a really good product.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stay away from freedomblanket.com.

http://www.my3cents.com/showReview.cgi?id=17718 - johndi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, but their web page doesn't talk about Slanket Science. Marketing is a bitch, target a small group, and make them feel exclusive then charge 3 times as much for an inferior product.
- darthrsg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3you stole that from the original DIGG
- squeevey, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7That's kind of what I am thinking too. Not to knock the guys' idea, but wouldn't a bathrobe be just as easy if not easier?
- dbrooks19, on 11/20/2008, -0/+0I love the slanket and it's great now it's available in the uk.
