WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING ANY MORE APPLICATIONS. - dburka, on 10/12/2007, -5/+195Extra credit to any designer who sends in a .txt resume. I'm not even kidding. I love getting design resumes that are totally in text, yet are clear and concise.
- Aberwind, on 10/12/2007, -4/+193...and on the 9th day of March, Digg servers are brought down for the first time by thousands of Word resume templates flooding their inboxes.
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -25/+187I got dissapointed when i realized it wasnt a Steve Jobs page.... :'(

TOP BURY MANAGER
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Digg is looking for a skilled clicker to join our crew in San Francisco. You should be able to click your right mouse button, left mouse button and type keyboard (sometimes).
RESPONSIBILITIES
You should constantly hang on main Digg page and bury stories. Your funcitons will be to:
-click Bury > Duplicate;
-click Bury > Spam;
-click Bury > Inaccurate;
-click Bury > Ok, this is lame.
Sometimes you will be required to put comments like "dude lolz it was week ago", "but.... will it blend?" and "haha fag you misspelled < insert something >" - supafuzz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+57http://digg.com/jobs
- lms21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48Dugg purely for "And, as always, you stay classy Internet."
- sctechguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Today's winner of the "He didn't get the joke" award, is: superpotential.
- TriZz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31...with a name like unabomber?!
- johngardiner, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34you guys will never need another book again... prepare to be reading thousands upon thousands of resumes!
- Skitzzo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33damnit people, READ the other comments before posting your "clever and original" quip!
Better that everyone thinks you're an idiot than to open your mouth and prove them right. - Universal, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32You don't need to work for Digg to do that ;-)
- joestump, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24I've been working at Digg for about a month now. I took the job for mainly for two reasons: 1.) Name recognition and 2.) Potential. Your comment about "I wouldn't work anywhere the relies heavily on web ad revenue." is probably a flat out lie because you'd most likely jump at a job at Google (especially if it were before Google had went public or been bought out for an enormous sum of money). It'd also keep you from working at 8 out of the top 10 most visited sites on the internet according to Alexa as Yahoo!, MSN, Google, etc. all rely mostly on ad revenues. To round out my comment I'll comment on your assertion that less traffic leads to less ad revenue. This is like stating "If less people visit Disneyland then Disney will sell less Mickey Mouse tshirts." In other words, duh. It applies to everyone on the internet. If less people go to Amazon.com, guess what, they're sales go down.
Other reasons to work at Digg? I'm working with some of the brightest minds in the industry, San Francisco rules, I get into all the good parties and it's fun as hell. - ToRoE, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20But will I be able to surf Digg all day. That might be a conflict of intrest, methinks.
- dfltr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19well, dburka is canadian.
- brianez21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I like this line for Senior Systems Engineer:
"Proficiency in scripting/programming in any of python, perl, python, C, or C++."
I think they really want you know Python :) - PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I'm in no position to apply (student on other side of country), but I'll cheer for you, dburka. In areas where it's imperative to use monospaced text — code, game walkthroughs, NFOs, MOTDs, a great art has developed. It's so much more powerful when there are no formatting tools, no competing editors which produce different output.
- ripzone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16From the jobs page:
* Proficiency in scripting/programming in any of python, perl, python, C, or C++.
Why is Python doubled? I know it is good but damn...! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16just wondering whether they will handle all legal stuff for a qualified guy outside the us?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I would have more chances if my nickname was "-=@CutieCatie86@=-" ? )))) lol
- rshu4you, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21FTA Perhaps you’d like to join us at Digg in sunny San Francisco
Buried as inacurate - ScottyDontKnow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I applied for the designer position, then forgot to attach my CV, so i had to reply to my own email :S
lol i got a great shot now !

Burka get me the hell outta Ottawa. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Pics or it didn't happen.
- yansarazin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Man, I wish. Time to build a portfolio so I can leave this cold Ottawa weather.
- joestump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10@mobilehavoc
I was at large startup during the Web 1.0 boom as well and the reasons those companies normally failed (Care2.com hasn't failed, going strong with over 6m users) wasn't because they lacked a business model (the web was so young that nobody had a business model at the time) it was because their management were spending like drunken sailors. Digg, despite being a leading startup, has taken a fraction of what even the most insane startups (anybody remember Gazelle.com, which was a site devoted entirely to women's leggings?) during the Web 1.0 boom. This means that there's less of a risk and you don't need the same amount of employees, infrastructure, etc. to become cash-flow positive. Also, I didn't mean to imply that Digg is spending like crazy on wild parties. They're not. In fact, spending, etc. is all managed exceptionally well. In other words we're not spending capital on 150ft. sailboats.
And you hit on a good point, Disney has interests in ABC and ESPN ... which both rely entirely on advertising and are also being threatened by ad-blocking technology (TiVo, etc). I know Amazon.com sells actual goods, but your original point was, basically "less traffic == less ad revenue" which is the same for ALL business models because what you're really saying is "less demand == less sales". - blueskydiver76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10To apply post your resume here....the resume with the most diggs gets hired.
- grendelboogie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9python, eggs and spam. python, ham, python, eggs, python and spam. python, python, bacon, python, eggs, python and spam.
Yeah, I should proofread a little better. But, Ron does REALLY like Python. - dburka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Compared to Canada in the wintertime, San Francisco is indeed very sunny. Before I came to Digg, I was in Toronto and it certainly seems like sunny paradise in SF this time of year.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12There are ads on Digg?
- mobilehavoc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Maybe I'm just too much of a realist but why is everyone so hot and bothered about working at Digg? I qualify for the Senior Systems Engineer twice over but no way I'm giving up my current job to work at a place wehose business model is based on web-based ad revenue....good luck to you other folks.
- eetraveller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8In the true spirit of Digg, I think WE should be giving the thumbs up/thumbs down to these prospective employees.
- scoobydoo84, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Do you guys need a super qualified Cube Patroller?? Previously my position was G-14 classified at the CIA. Without giving away too many state secrets, the essence of the job was to go from cube to cube and make small talk while the boss was away. Though my popularity was very high amongst many cubes I resigned because of contract negotiations. I refuse to take anything less than $1,000,000. If interested you know how to contact me. I am also available on a contract basis!!!!! Serious inquiries only please!!!!!
- engwar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Got a wife and kids, darkmule?
What you work for changes quite a bit when you're paying housing/clothing/food/medical/schooling for more people than yourself. You can't pay the bills with warm fuzzy feelings that you get from your job. I say "Show me the money." I'll take myself to new heights and enjoy where I'm going with my hobbies when I'm off work. - jewelzer, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10My resume doesn't quite fit the description, but I can make a mean pot of coffee... :D
- mrmcbastard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm sure they're all broken up about this, too.
- mobilehavoc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@engwar...More and more it seems Digg users are all young and naive with no wives/children or at least no sense of responsibility.
But maybe it's just one of those places that has no career growth and is a hit-and-run. Work there for a few years and then leave.
Good luck getting a job outside of California though, the only people who know about Digg.com are Digg users so don't expect it to give you a resume boost in all cases either. - jspegele, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@johngardiner
That was based on BusinessWeek's estimate of the value of digg.com. Supposedly Kevin's not making too much money off the site yet. - binarybandit92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@0crabby0
I believe that position is already taken
"Dan's job at digg consists of raiding the Pepsi section of the fridge and sometimes sneaking a Red Stripe at 9:30am"
http://www.digg.com/about/dan - reynan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4how about applicants post their portfolio and digg users vote by digging/ burying posted portfolio links.
aahh.. I love to work at digg, just too far away and I dont have U.S. Visa plus my xhtml+css project aren't online yet. :( sucks
http://rheyzer.deviantart.com/ - dfltr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4since when do we listen to what ron likes? i thought he was just there as a nerf target.
- tuka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5What a letdown, I thought this was an anouncement of a new Diggable section dedicated to jobs and or job related topics. No offence, I just don't happen to need a job at digg, though it would probably be sweet hehe.
- aston127, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3no positions for people completely underqualified for any sort of internet company? lame.
- masterdieff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dugg because Daniel Burka said "weed".
- iggiafrica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Even digg links to their blog first!
- jcs_goog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wanted: Someone to make our website faster.
