- SpectralSounds, on 10/09/2008, -9/+68Too many Kevin Rose ass kissers around here.
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -6/+52Absolutely he's excited, its guys like him that will be the gatekeepers to power, at least where elections and popular opinion are concerned. The power and sway of the likes of Rupert Murdoch is certainly on the wane. They just can't seem to nail this webternet thing.
Use it wisely Kev. - clichecow, on 10/09/2008, -5/+45"Digg founder excited to feel important"
- xGrill, on 10/09/2008, -5/+23What I don't get is that the internets went from being a Ron Paul (Libertarian/Republican) fanatic to a Barak Obama (Left wing Democrat) lovenut.
If you supported Ron Paul and his beliefs of non intervention before, how could you change your viewpoint completely and vote for more governmental intervention with Barak Obama? - inactive, on 10/09/2008, -5/+22The internet makes McCain look like an *****.
- Kugelblitze, on 10/09/2008, -0/+16Ok, digg is cool, but honestly, wgasa what Kevin Rose says about the elections? If I want to learn about over-priced tea or which black socks to wear with my sneakers, then I'll start listening to Kevin Rose.
- crombenevolant, on 10/09/2008, -1/+13I think it is more a case of Obama adopted social media, after he saw how well it worked for Ron Paul. Just like they have volunteers out canvassing neighborhoods, there are campaign workers furiously posting to sites like this one. The funny thing is that most people on Digg don't realize that there are many political groups/corporations/etc using Digg to sway their opinion on things. They just assume all diggers are regular people like them. This won't last forever, but while it does it is very powerful tool for the savvy campaigns like Obama's.
- syxx, on 10/09/2008, -5/+17It is important to bring so much political spam together in one place at one time. Now if we could only someway bring in more articles on erectile dysfunction and how to lose weight like hollywood stars I could do away totally with email.
My hat is off to you Mr Rose. - SpudgeBoy, on 10/09/2008, -8/+19You ever think that we aren't voting for Obama, but are really voting against McCain? Ron Paul would have been better, but since he is gone now, Obama gets the votes. ANything to keep Pallin and McCain out of office. I wasn't nearly as anti-McCain before he added the whacko to his ticket.
- quomen, on 10/09/2008, -0/+11Has either Kevin or the Digg crew come out and spoke publicly about Net Neutrality? They should make a public stance (in favor) for internet neutrality like Google has.
- donkeydrop, on 10/09/2008, -1/+11So the Obama-bots, and before them the Paul-ites, are spamming garbage stories to the front page. And that's good? Only for someone who gets paid by the page-view. Not for anyone looking for interesting stories or even a meaningful political discussion.
- rframpton, on 10/09/2008, -3/+13According to Digg:
Socialism = Good
Personal Responsibility = Bad - socalftw, on 10/09/2008, -4/+13"And it seems that it's the Obama camp using it the most. The [Obama] iPhone app is very good."
It's not that the Obama camp is using technology the most, it's that the McCain camp (and a lot of their supporters, it seems) is too out of touch with today's technology to take advantage of it. - PeanutCheeseBar, on 10/09/2008, -5/+14I wonder how excited Kevin would be if he actually paid attention to the front page of his website and saw all the DailyKos/HuffPo/ThinkProg spam that overly fanatical Obama supporters submit every day?
- jayzDigga, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8I heard that he was more excited about finally getting into Ariana Huffington's pants.
- RobotBuddha, on 10/09/2008, -0/+7I was excited for the same reason when I kept getting messages reminding everyone to sign up to vote, at blah website, if they hadn't already. Until I found out it just filled out a form for you that you then put in the mailbox. It's nice, but still pretty low tech. And, really, I'm not so sure that's a bad thing. Elections are one of those things that I'm 'very' wary about tinkering with too much.I love technology, but large amounts of people literally live or die based on the accuracy of the voting process. It's not something to take lightly.
- dan222555, on 10/10/2008, -1/+8How about the election changing tech...i.e. turning Digg into a Huffington Post spamfest?
- sockpuppets, on 10/09/2008, -1/+8Pandering to the 4chan vote.
- jayzDigga, on 10/09/2008, -0/+7dude, didn't you hear on TMZ that Kevin Rose finally got into Ariana Huffington's pants? It makes him real happy when he sees her crap on the front page.
- marksands07, on 10/09/2008, -1/+8I don't really think so. The majority of Internet users are probably 18 - 25 year olds that get on these social network sites and post about politics. And since the majority is probably 18-25 they're a little more rebellious, and thus more liberal about their outlook on life, where the conservatives seem to be older and thus keep quiet to themselves and haven't learned the ways of the tech. It's not so much technology is changing the election, it's that technology is being used by young, liberals and it's election year. Stuff like that happens.
- rowlodge, on 10/09/2008, -0/+7kevin didn't say that, a ghost writer did. (he's not excitable)
- Pinkshisno, on 10/09/2008, -2/+9Hiii Kevin.
- 3leggedHorse, on 10/09/2008, -1/+8Some what favoring Obama. LOL.
- dew209, on 10/10/2008, -1/+7Buried for Kevin Rose
- Spuy767, on 10/10/2008, -2/+8He lets the wackos who would usually exist on the fringes of society meet with the tin foil hatters in a huge forum of conspiracy theory circle-jerks. Kevin's just happy cause he gets to line his pockets. If it wasn't making him rich, I doubt he'd give a *****.
- specialbuddy1, on 10/09/2008, -2/+8Diebold machines in all states. Let's change the U.S. election system. YAY
- jimmyobama, on 10/09/2008, -5/+11I can't wait for President McCain to win. Question will be - when will Kevin rip the Obama sticker off his laptop, or will he be like those who still have a Kerry bumper sticker on their car?
- TacoHell, on 10/09/2008, -0/+6Tech is changing US elections. Like unaccountable, paperless electronic voting? Yep, that's a change we can all believe in.
- MacBookForMe, on 10/09/2008, -2/+7Google rules in that department...(and is ever increasing its Media power:)
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5I'm skeptical. It's not like the internet is going to give the power to "the people" or anything like that.
- crazysamz, on 10/09/2008, -2/+7Yeah Hopefully in four years time, Kevin Rose will convince the US population to change our voting method to online voting, and it will be created and secured by Digg. So we'll all just go to Digg.com on election day, and it will be a big ass Thumb's up or down for each candidate. The winner at the end of the day is the 1337 prezid3nte!
I can dream, right? - GTPilot, on 10/09/2008, -8/+13because people can't stand the thought of another 8 years with mcbush.
- ICSU, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5tech is changing US election
..I thought it would be about Diebold. - HanSolo69, on 10/09/2008, -2/+7You would have gotten a lot more Diggs a lot faster if you had said "Kevin Rose" in the title instead of "Digg Founder."
- MWeather, on 10/09/2008, -4/+9"You ever think that we aren't voting for Obama, but are really voting against McCain?"
And McCain voters are voting against Obama. Nobody wants either of them elected, but their shortsightedness will ensure one of them is.
"ANything to keep Pallin and McCain out of office."
Even if it means no real meaningful change will ever come? - ChristophyBrown, on 10/10/2008, -2/+6Yeah, all the pro Obama propaganda being shoved down our throat as "news" is such a great thing!
(I'm Canadian, don't bury me just because I don't believe in your Saviour) - Batfishy, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4Sorry, Jerry, but there is a way he is that clueless.
- nymphetamine, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1CPKhAxPyU
- smoothmann, on 10/09/2008, -3/+7If the presidential election was like digg. Digg Obama/Bury McCain or vice versa, by the push of a "Digg it" button or a "Bury as Lame" button.......
"Submit New" (insert Palin here)
We'd be so ***** - neenach2002, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4And no one cares about Diebold and the crimes they have committed? Sad..
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -4/+8McCain makes McCain look like an *****.
- Stiverton, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4You can't blame him for the content when it's user generated. I agree that there is way to much election ***** all over the front page, but thankfully they let you filter certain categories out.
- nullcodes, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Both parties have access to the same tech .. so how is it changing anything? What can be done by one can be countered by the other. Cuts both ways.
- gnews, on 10/09/2008, -8/+11Social media adopted Obama, the Internet followed and it is good to see that you don't really stand a chance against the Internet these days. McCain has no chance!
"I rarely Digg anything political. But tomorrow I'll be happy to cast my vote for Obama." K. Rose http://pownce.com/kevin/notes/1298589/ ... that was in Feb 08 - jayzDigga, on 10/09/2008, -2/+5Well, you raise another point. most of the people in 'Social Media' are addicted to it and under 30. Election day will come and they will be too busy blogging about it, trying to fix online polls, and digging Huffington Post articles to vote.
- brycelb, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3At least HALF the country does not want to get it's political fix thru the internet. It has nothing to do with their ability to do so, they simply choose to get it elsewhere. It's not like using or even finding digg requires ANY special skills.
- cougar618, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3i guess agreeing means auto ban?
- magus_melchior, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3@Holocaust: He didn't need our help...
