- IvanB, on 10/11/2007, -6/+29Too much content on the page. God, clean it up.
- msaleem, on 10/11/2007, -9/+32It's sad how many people comment without reading the article. i.e. most of the people that have commented on the article so far and have made inane remarks about Kevin Rose or Jay Adelson, without actually discussing the content of the article. Please read and discuss. Thanks.
- AriaStar, on 10/11/2007, -12/+32Dude, that was just lame.... Dugg down.

What browser are you using? I didn't see anything except the article and a small amount of harmless mumbo-jumbo. Firefox + AdBlock Plus for the win. - djbelieve, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Dear mikesbaker/Troll,
Angry much? I'm looking at "the top of firefox" [sic] and the only thing I see is the Bookmark and Navigation Toolbars.
And just because capitalization and punctuation are a part of the English language doesn't mean it should be used ever. Er...
P.S. I am not blind. Thank you for your concern. - smacksaw, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Someone has an MBA...I should just rip off Jay's quotes and sell it to grad students.
- grimfandango, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2A totally uninformative article. Buried.
- slapthemonkey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Interesting story.
- culley, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3Nice read, Jay makes me think and they way Digg might end up one day, hopefully not in the hands of some idiots
- inf1ni, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Bleh, I'm not paging through this BS.
- nickmch, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3Is it me or was the HD-DVD riot about as important as a flame war? Obviously mainstream media took notice but I fail to see what the hell it mattered. The only entity to be affected by it was digg and I'm sorry but I highly doubt everybody would have just left digg anways. To me the only thing it proved was DRM doesn't work but I highly doubt that was news to people on this site.
- drilldown, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1A moment... had to kill the popup comment. More people read than you'd think, discussing is another matter. People will comment on what they've got to work with, and what's popular. Ideals are rarely popular. People are popular. I wanna do what they can do, is popular. It's education, it's advertising, it's the businessman, it's the working man, it's the everyman. That is what makes digg popular. It allows everyman the common voice to be followed, or not, by others. Advertising agencies have had it down for years to sell something as simple as a sneaker.
The warning is the temptation to alter, confine, constrict and control. Creates riots and unhappiness. People learn from people. Education is merely knowledge to become whatever you consider to be the best people. Equality isn't really a constitutional requirement. It's the human hive mind at work. AKA, you do that and live... I do that and live. Starts with peek-a-boo as a child, really.
Controlling the media/access to others limits the mind. Desirable for cults, sects, and all others cut off from the hive by various govn'ts. Old as Stalin's implementation. OH, we're not talking until I hit the enter button. - aserer511, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2I like his philosophies but he's an idealist. He has too much faith in the burial tool.
- anitab83, on 10/11/2007, -20/+16Really though, the article belongs in the toilet. It was poorly written, far too long, and really not terribly exciting. How many times can we listen to the reasons why they eliminated the "top users", and then basically get lied to that this helped create a more democratic Digg? The top users are still there, and still have hundreds to thousands of "friends" on Digg that thumb-up their articles. Digg is no more democratic because the list is gone.
Plus, any Web 2.0 company that tries to discount the concept of "being built to be sold" isn't being entirely truthful. While Kevin and Jay may not have it on their minds 100% of the time, you can be sure that Digg's backers do. You don't plop Millions on a business to live off a couple Million a year in advertising revenue.
I would have loved reading an interview with Kevin, but lately Jay has been coming across more and more like a typical "smoke up yer a**" CEO. No offense Jay, it had to happen sooner or later (it comes with the job). - crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2Interesting article.
Too bad the "cutting out the middle man" reference wasn't about blocking blog spam/passthrough articles. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2***** CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!
12 pop-ups BLOCKED in under 4 secs !@! ...........just to read this ***** !! ***** that and the horse it rolled in on !!
Nothing but a viral pop up page !! Thanx computerworld for reminding me why i don't frequent your ***** page !! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -12/+8"CEO" Jay can kiss my arse. Have so many of you already forgotten what Digg's Lord Protectorate did on that fateful day?
- chirps123, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2Diggs Ok we got some good diggs in Jan i just wished they would give everyone a fair go not just silicon valley people
- 5m0k3, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2Nice to know I wasn't the only one who thought this
- LukusLuke, on 10/11/2007, -8/+3I thought it meant ESPN's Bud Light Hot Seat!! .... disappointed
- rabidjade, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1Read the whole article. He was careful in his use of words and avoided some of the questions with generic or expected answers. Otherwise it was a good interview.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1'I didn't see anything except the article and a small amount of harmless mumbo-jumbo.'
look at the top of firefox telling you how many pop ups its blocking - or are you blind and just because you spell out FTW doesn't mean it should be used ever. - rockdawg, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1yay
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -21/+14Atleast its not a Kevin Ross Article.

- Fly1m1, on 10/11/2007, -24/+1The NYT is a news outlet. digg is a social website. So that makes you capital PRICK #2!
- Fly1m1, on 10/11/2007, -35/+5First It's Rose not Ross. It's because of Mr. Rose that u are able to post that comment. So that makes u a capital PRICK!
- Paperclip1, on 10/11/2007, -151/+8I was hoping 'hot seat' meant toilet. But I guess that'd be the 'cold seat'.

What is Digg?
