- danhuard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3submissions like these are exactly why it's so difficult to follow stories completely through the /diggall queue to the homepage.
stop treating digg like a message board...it's science and technology news not "whatever comes to my thought process gets submitted."
contact digg at feedback@digg.com - DPowers08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No need to copy Slashdot... I like seeing all the comments in the order posted on one page.
- uclshea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's the one thing I hate about slashdot. Quoting users would be good, but threaded comments always end up being too convoluted. No Digg
- mighty_mouth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Threaded comments are the one thing that keep me attached to Slashdot. Digg would be make 100% better if we had threaded comments.
- WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The whole point of threaded comments and thresholds is to eliminate the GNAA + Goatse + whatever lameness... It's badly needed here, especially since comment rating is already implemented.
- mighty_mouth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ uclshea: I agree that sometimes threaded comments can get convoluted . . . but I am sure some good UI design guy can find a nice way to make it work well.
Besides, if you want to see something REALLY convoluted, try having a decent conversation here on digg using the current flat comment system!!! - WiseWeasel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh God! Yes, please!!!
- mighty_mouth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ tuxfan: digg's flat comment system = 50 lamers saying "ok ill digg this" + 2 or 3 insightful comments hidden somewhere in the mess (they dont usually get modded up) that you can find if you have time to waste + since not many comments here get modded up, there is little motivation for people to post good stuff (not getting any glory) + we have plenty of rantings here too + isnt it annoying how I have to start each of my posts with "@ YOURNAME"
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Also make it so you can 'quote' users. I submitted that like in v1
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm sure they are working on it considering how many people have said they want this.
- znxster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Absolutely.. threading is a good idea.. and @milomindrbindr they could implement the ability to flatten the threads for you...
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who is danhuard anyway?
- TuxFan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Threaded comments = /.'s bizarre libertarian/conservatives rant + GNAA + Goatse + Linux
- Kzar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, à là Slashdot comments system and welcome to Flame Wars on Digg ! :D
- Monkeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0threaded comments suck
nested comments for the win - MrGeorgeBush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@danhuard
@mrinternet
Agree 100%

THANK YOU. I've been saying the same thing for months now.. - mighty_mouth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ Kzar, like we dont already have flame wars. Actually, right now MOST of what we have is flame wars or uber-lame posts.
Whenever I see a really good story on digg, I find myself hoping it will be posted to /. soon, just so I can see the good comments there. - mrinternet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ danhuard: stop treating digg like a message board...it's science and technology news not "whatever comes to my thought process gets submitted."
Agree 100%

Not a big slashdot fan ..mostly because I don't like the 'feel' of the navigation and look of the site (perhaps its just me). That's why I find Digg more refreshing and it 'flows so much better'. Hopefully adding the threading will help
(perhaps worth describing more what you mean for the n00bs by the threading aspect) - laelfrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bingo!!
- MiloMindrbindr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0another vote against threaded. I friggin hate those things. I cannot stand slashdot almost for that reason alone.
- panique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have to agree with mighty_mouth, the flat comment structure makes digg comments 100% noise. Threading would render some signal out of the noise. Either that or a blacklist to enable me to block en masse all the lamers. Doubt that will ever happen though.
- jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like the flat comments
the threaded comments on slashdot are horribly ugly which is why I come here for my news instead. - numist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YES PLEASE
proper conversations can't really happen without threads
then again, I'd also like to see a voting entry for -1 Incorrect, but that's a petition for later. - mighty_mouth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@ danhuard: This really isnt something that just came "to my thought process." I've been thinking that digg needs threaded comments for a long time now. I thought a petition like this would be much more likely to get the digg developers attention (that is, if enough people digg it) than simply my one little email.
We'll see. . . - beasty_dave_Mk2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0mmm flames
