Oh please, no. We have enough people digging without reading the stories as is.
--"The ability to have the title link to the actual page of the story and not digg."
--"A little text box that appears next to your cursor and follows it around when you hover your mouse over a title link. The text box would have the description of the link your cursor is over."
--"The yellow buttons would go to that digg page"
Agreed, all counts.
--"Multiple versions of this extension.. (e.g., diggall version of it which lets you sort by new or sort by ranked number of diggs and lets you digg from that extension as well along with all my ideas above)"
Most of this could be done with the options menu, to configure it how you wish. - dude3609, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Oh hey, this extension needs these following things:
The ability to digg it straight from your google.com/ig
The ability to have the title link to the actual page of the story and not digg.
A little text box that appears next to your cursor and follows it around when you hover your mouse over a title link. The text box would have the description of the link your cursor is over.
The yellow buttons would go to that digg page
Multiple versions of this extension.. (e.g., diggall version of it which lets you sort by new or sort by ranked number of diggs and lets you digg from that extension as well along with all my ideas above) - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17google.com/ig could always use the Digg RSS feed to make a basic feed, but this is a custom google.com/ig module that shows amt of diggs, etc.
- Mudcrutch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11small request:
Is there a way to change the title from "DIGG" to "Digg" (or "digg?")
nothing like digg screaming at me on my google page. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Google OR Yahoo will eventually buy Digg anyway, so you can expect better Google or Yahoo Digg compatibility in the future anyways.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16haha reporting kevin's story as lame
good luck with that - jmonw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I agree with tkdan. It's nice, but I don't see the point. It takes up more space on the homepage and really doesn't add any functionality.
- kidblast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Under the description on that page it says "View stories from the social new website digg.com"
It's missing the s on news. Just a note. - thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8is it safe?
"Module requires inlining. Inline modules can alter other parts of the page, and could give its author access to information including your Google cookies and preference settings for other modules. Click OK if you trust this module's author or delete to remove this module." - EliW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Bad Programmer. Programmer make typo. This has actually now been fixed in the feed - and will update as soon as Google reparses the feed. Thanks for pointing it out.
- MegaSilver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I agree. I much prefer the simpler Top Stories RSS feed:
http://www.digg.com/rss/index.xml - Schda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I digg this and I do use Google modules. I like it because it works like my.yahoo.com. Sort of an aggregator of all my news sources and such. It's pretty simple to setup and it's nice and clean. Plus I use it as my homepage at work and it allows me to sneak a bit of entertainment in with my news.
I don't use an RSS reader so I can't compare, but my only gripe is that I can't figure out how to get two columns instead of three. Right now only 2/3rds of the width of my screen is used. I wish I could double the size of oneo f my columns. - cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5bah, way too bulky looking... i'll stick with the rss feed thank you very much.
- nstern2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Yeah I agree http://www.netvibes.com is much better then google anyday. Or use the digg widget.
- betterth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6This link works: http://www.google.com/ig/directory?num=24&hl=en&url=http://digg.com/goog/ig.xml&q=digg&start=0
- soulrubble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Did you really just use a tinyurl to link to a story instead of the actual URL?
What happens when it expires? - datter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41300+ diggs... for the sole reason that Kevin Rose submitted it. I swear to God if that guy ever needs a blow job all he'll have to do is pop in here and wait for about 10 seconds, he'll have 1300+ people lined up waiting to serve.
Flame away diggtards. :) - metafore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4how you like dem apples, /.
j00 g0t pwnd. (*ehem* as my /. google box has been replaced with teh digg) - cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love "the google personalized homepage" aka Google IG, but I still don't know what the IG stands for - can anyone offer this info?
- kowgod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Just add the http://
Use this: http://www.google.com/ig/directory?num=24&hl=en&url=http://digg.com/goog/ig.xml&q=digg&start=0 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Request: Make it leaner...make the yellow boxes smaller, maybe get rid of the 'diggs' part. or make the font smaller. The ability to digg it right there would be nice...Other than that super sweet, I'll drop my rss feed of it even though I really don't like the large yellow boxes. I understand why you want to have them big like the and nice cause that's what 'digging' is and kind of falls under the whole marketing thing, but you're developing for the Google world now and everything on IG is mean and lean. So if you want a great module you need to make it as mean and lean as technically possible
- heimtommy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It says:
"Please wait, loading ..."
forever. It wouldnt change with a page refresh either! What could be the problem??
Please help! - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6"Sorry, digg.com/goog/ig.xml is unavailable. Please try another result."
He left off the http://
This link works: http://www.google.com/ig/directory?num=24&hl=en&url=http://digg.com/goog/ig.xml&q=digg&start=0
Looks and works great =) - benwaterworth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i had the rss feed but it didn't seem to update as much
hopefully this will be better and its good that it shows how many times a story has been dugg
thanks alot - endy64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is exactly what stopped me from running it. Sorry no digg, I'll stick to the regular RSS thank you.
- Bonez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have the same problem as heimtommy , says please wait, loading forever
- hater2win, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Agreed, netvibes ftw. I wish this worked for it too. (I tried it in the modules thing, it doesn't)
- Steaminx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The developers at digg are doing awesome. Keep up the good work.
- we.are.devo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4reported as spam.
- FarcePest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, that put me off it too. On the positive side, I discovered diggdot.us. I already had digg, /., and del.icio.us as separate feeds. Not sure I like the combined feed yet, but it is less intrusive.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2cool, a replacement for the digg rss feed that i was using on google!
as other have said though, it would be much much better with smaller icons. - purpleplatyduck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2there's lots of speculation on what IG means. Some say it's "I, Google" (like I, Robot), others iGoogle (like iMac), and others "interface graft". Basically, nobody really knows. :)
- vdxc, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2i'd like to be able to choose whether the link opens in a new window and maybe remvoe the %% Diggs square
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Please make it for Netvibes too! :D
- SODA8297, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1awesome
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2
Um, it's ok. But so what. Does anyone even use Google's personal homepage anyway? - Paul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LOL
Reminds me of classic DIGG with the yellow boxes and stuff... - SpankyPants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have the same problem too :(
Any advice? - LMH1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree. While I trust Digg before many other organizations, I don't see where this feature should require that loss (however trivial) of security/privacy.
I'll keep using the manually entered link on google/ig. - icurnvs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amen! I'll stick to the regular Digg RSS until it gets trimmed down some.
- Groady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great stuff... had the RSS on my IG page for the last frew months. Now having it update more regularly with the diggs shown is so much better.
- sennmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep, same problem for me too, won't load. I've emailed the diggstaff, let's just wait and see if they will do something with this.
- curtissthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice, I have had digg's homepage rss feed on my google.com/ig page for a long time now, but it is nice to see a better scripted one released by digg!
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my homepage is blank...
- taxicab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very cool, Digg++ finally something on my homepage worth reading rather than /.
- cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe make the Yellow boxes optional if possible... but DEFINITELY a cool hook for my Google homepage. I like the customizeability over the way the rss works. I'd love more options though. If you can cross-index to "dugg by friends", it would be nice to have an instance pushpinned to a search keyword, or set of keywords of interest (like maybe have the other results, but promote recent "search" matches to the top and highlight them, similar to the little band on the yellow boxes on the Digg homepage, but non-graphical).
- AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To you who are digging this... do you use google modules? Not do you install them or set them up, but do you regularly use them. If so what do you like about them. I haven't tried them yet, but I use a dashboard RSS reader in OS X and it seems to do everything I need.
- DapperScoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This looks really good. I like seeing how many diggs a story got from my Google page, but maybe it would be better if you removed the word "diggs" from the yellow box? It would reduce the amount of space taken up, and anybody who installs this module would already know what the number in the yellow box means.
- apache2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use Akregator in gentoo linux. I like using software better because this way, I wont miss any front page article, they are all saved.
I used google's personal homepage for a while, and then I became aware to..... (sorry to say) how ugly it is. - XStatic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1- The ability to have the title link to the actual page of the story and not digg.
A little text box that appears next to your cursor and follows it around when you hover your mouse over a title link. The text box would have the description of the link your cursor is over.
The yellow buttons would go to that digg page

What is Digg?
