- misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47Guna, 90% of diggers probably have their own websites and you don't see them post their link everywhere, just because it's annoying, off-topic, and is considered spam since it's obviously just an attempt to get traffic for no justifiable reason. I also think signatures are annoying in general because it's pretty obvious who wrote it, I can see digg's title bar with the user name above each comment. With that said, many diggers use signatures and I never bother to mod them down, but I'm sure other people probably do.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+45Ok makes sense. I will continue to learn about digg. Thanks.
- harmlessinc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31Guna in your opinion that would be what...
Link spamming in the comments? - keng, on 10/12/2007, -6/+26Oooohhhh.....so he says they "HAVE NOT" opened up digg to other topics like politics and stupid videos of snakes eating midgets......hmmmmm......
- misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The ability to make digg more customizable is certainly welcome, in order to weed out all the stupid videos and stories that would be better off staying on Reuters Odd News. Sometimes I think Digg would be better if I could only see the stories/comments from about 20 different users that I like (wow that's very un-democratic, huh?). It'd be cool if it was a tree-like system where I get to see the 20 users I pick plus everyone who they have picked as friends. That way my "circle" would be bigger but everything should theoretically still be very similar, as far as what each user gets to see.
- tysonhy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13This was a very interesting interview. I am looking forward to all of these new features in the near future. I agreed with Jay on pretty much everything he have said; I do think think the major news sources are very interested in what digg has to offer and as far as how and what the people submit stories shows an effect on what we see and hear about things on the net. As far as blog spam... we'll, we know who we are so enough said on that. Overall, good interview and can't wait for more word on what's next for digg.
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17I always bury those comments.
- SixSider, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10While I agree that tech will always be the base for Digg, I look forward to more categories, especially if you have more filtering options. Say only see tech, politics and sports. Or viral videos, health and humor. Also if stories could be tagged with a couple of tags (not unlimited amount, say three).
But has it expands categories it seems there needs to be a system for the masses to re-categorize a story. If enough people/percentage/whatever vote to change the category, it shifts. - cphuntington97, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Digg has a CEO? I thought it was just like, Kevin Rose in his parents' basement or something.
/ducks - sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6and no, i'm not fscking trolling - use your brain, and realize the following :
If you see 20 seperate Digg users, all digging links which direct back to the same site *all the time* (no variance in what they digg, it's all from hardocp or gotfrag) wouldn't you think something is going on? I think it's past the "oh they're just friends" point. Yes, you can use Digg for evil, too. - mdheinzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Poor audio quality, but still interesting to hear jay give his point of view about digg.
- metafore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5damnit! integrate [and/or (re)develop] a cache so these 220 diggs don't knock the site offline.
since the crowd says it's cool, digg - sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Can we fix the large amount of spam bots which try to boost their ad revenue by digging the same story 200 times?
Hardocp & Gotfrag, are just a few of the offenders.
Digg needs to weed out these *****, either by IP filtering or possibly a nice algorithim to check multiple users which digg the same "stories" from the same sites all the time. - TopBanana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6When sites like digg.com have CEO's, you know it's time to sell!
- fazed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That initial buzz is wearing off and digg is becoming a dumping ground for people who want to sell ***** rather than submissions of stuff that you couldn't find easily otherwise (which is what digg was in 'the good old days')
I'd sell now.. it's not gonna get much better - tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Digg should just stay strictly technology. When you add more sections you add more spam, lame, crappy, stupid post.
- keng, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13maybe all the fark-posters can listen to this instead of me telling them...
READ THE FAQ YOU FREAKIN' GUY!!!! - dekkerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A Kevin Bacon option for Digg? That would be cool...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Digg should just stay strictly technology.
Other CJ sites which focus on general news didn't take off.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9The IT field is what I was referring to.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5"I do not see how their articles which are actually informative reads can be considered "spamming *****"."
what is the point of having digg if everything they submit is garunteed to be on the front page? Unfortunately we can't filter authors either. Personally, I don't like reading crap that was forced down my throat from hardocp -- if i did I would just read hardocp.
these are clear examples where digg fails. - Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you run a one-person company, you can call yourself the CEO.
- lordbelial, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I don't know about Gotfrag, but HardOCP has a very active and large fanbase with most of them also being active Diggers. I do not see how their articles which are actually informative reads can be considered "spamming *****".
- TreasureChest, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Is anybody else having problems playing this mp3, do I need anything special?
- TreasureChest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not a standard mp3 and winamp won't play it. It may well play in quicktime or iTunes but i don't like either so i don't install them. It did play in VLC however so all is good.
- SoulMaster2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Outlook: More Apple and Linux worship and more Microsoft bashing
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's admirable that the want to keep evolving Digg, but it's clear that they want to pump and dump it to Yahoo or some other company with big pockets down the line. So the question becomes - are they evolving Digg to provide a better experience to the end user or are they trying to pad the buy price by adding extra features.
Realistically, I think the illogical acquisition Yahoo boat has sailed and will not be in port for a very long time. They've made a lot of questionable purchases that have done nothing but bleed their operational costs and they will never see a ROI on any of them. Flikr is a prime example of a failed Yahoo acquisition. Yes, it gets traffic, but it generates very little revenue for Yahoo. I heard a quote that they average 70-90 new premium account signup's per month. Flikr would have gone belly up within weeks had they not been bailed out by Yahoo. I would be very gun shy if I was the Yahoo CFO because ultimately he has to answer for these poor returns. - bluefire0728, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Valid points, but Flickr would still have done fine without Yahoo's help. Flickr was booming well before Yahoo found them. They had a very targeted niche market but that market was sustaining them quite adequately, if not more.
I'm confident that Digg will remain "independent" for awhile (and I put "independent" in quotes for lack of a better word). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6If you WANT sports news, or viral videos GO to a site that has those! Why must you get that here? There are far better places to go to get those.
- Elxx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Haha, Fark references on Digg. What is this world coming to?
/slashies! - bluefire0728, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2My interview with Jay Adelson is a little dated, but I wanted to share it. It was when I was still getting the hang of interview podcasting so the questions can be a little bland. It's a podcast interview as well:

http://www.dormd.net/podcast/episodes/DORMd_Interviews_Jay_Adelson_Digg.mp3 - Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Well, Jay would make sense if I never saw non-tech on the front page. But I know I've seen of plenty of non-tech there which isn't a bad thing at all because there have also been some irrelevant and repetitive technology news stories on the front page.
- SpunkyNuts, on 03/09/2009, -0/+0This IS opening up, OPENING UP to FOX viewers because we want FOX viewers' comments and informed opinions on DIGG, right Jay? FOX wasn't patronizing at all, not at all.. and Jay, you looked assertive and not at all like a tool. Good job extending that olive branch to the FOX viewers. You should go on Hannity next, then on Rush's show...
Should get interesting.. - LR2_, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I have never heard of this podcast. Why some random podcast?
- SillyRabbit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Whoa. You can get them by the bag now? It seems lately they ship by the "elroy"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1nothing special required... heck, quicktime was more then happy to play it back through my browser.
- willistg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Looks like a reguar mp3 to me.
I'm off to look at porncast see ya. - applespice, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1reddit (http://reddit.com) is doing pretty well.
- DiggerT, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3lets hope they make the DIGG site a little faster in the future, cos some times it can run really slow!
- alej744, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1mp3 is ummmm... i think the most native, usable kind of audio... thing i've ever seen, so you're an idiot..ok

ODEO!!!! - cantoral, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Digg is in its way to become AmericanBlogNews.com
Once you have that American adjective, you have made it. At least for a while. Remember American Telephone & Telegraph, and yes, American Online.
Way to go, Jay et al. - elroy, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE COOL, IS IF MY "DEFAULT THRESHOLD" IN PROFILE ACTUALLY WORKED
