Demonoid To Be Resurrected Under New Admin
torrentfreak.com — Deimos, the administrator of Demonoid has announced that he is stepping down for good due to his preoccupation with ‘real-life’ issues. For those tearing their hair out with dismay, you can stop now. The site will be resurrected under a trusted new admin and Deimos is asking the community to give him support.

- nmnnotmyname, on 04/11/2008, -4/+1followers? I agree with them and I came to my own conclusions about Scientology and the MAFIAA. using "***** THE MPAA & RIAA" is just a way of agreeing with those around you.
- aceakm, on 04/11/2008, -3/+2I agree with them, but using the term is making them followers of a trend on these "forums". "***** the MPAA/RIAA" is simply a way to get a joke/digg noticed imo.
- nmnnotmyname, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Well, honestly? I don't really care what people think. Hell, think what you want. It's not blind following. Many people have to come to their own conclusions on how important bad business practices actually are. Some people care so little that they think Microsoft is a horrible company and they don't mind supporting it while others won't buy cell phones with proprietary operating systems. So your wrong if you think we're all followers. And what, Digging me down will make that any different?...Honestly?
- kamisama, on 04/11/2008, -2/+4yeah and it doesn't show that people fencing with the term "trend follower" are all kids desperately looking for a way to be different, thinking they'll achieve just that by pointing out others are just sheep :)
- aceakm, on 04/11/2008, -3/+2Sorry, I can't understand your sentences, but if you're calling me a sheep, I don't get it.

- BlaenkDenum, on 04/11/2008, -1/+9Yeah, with Demonoid it was actually FUN to seed, not to mention it was easy as hell. - christophocles, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3So use Tor to download the torrent files from their site and then d/l them like normal. They didn't block Canada at the tracker-level, did they?
- arcooke, on 04/11/2008, -3/+1Tor doesn't support BitTorrent. You can get it to work, but it's slow as ***** and you can't use a private tracker since your logged in IP has to be the same IP as the one downloading the torrent.
- Winston84, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3No need for that, just get the info-hash and download the .torrent over DHT from a peer .
That was maybe the best thing about Demonoid : No nazi-admins telling you what not to do with "their" torrents .
***** private trackers, buying yourself a better ratio and what not ..
- xsquirrel378x, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2yeah i wouldnt worry about it. it makes about zero sense to block canadian traffic now since they arent even in canada anymore

- foolishwolf, on 04/11/2008, -2/+6There is a god!!
- d0onut, on 04/11/2008, -1/+11Let's not jump to conclusions...
- Hangly, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1DEMONOID NON SERVIAM
- AzureRise, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Serve Demonoid, you peon!
- Predater, on 04/11/2008, -0/+16Demonoid was the best place for ebooks... Looking forward to it's resurrection.
- christophocles, on 04/11/2008, -1/+3Demonoid rocked but when it comes to ebooks, #bookwarez is teh *****. I'll let you figure out on your own which IRC server that one is on.... Oh, and alt.binaries.ebooks.* rocks too... Also, for you college students out there: stop supporting the greedy textbook publishers by buying every new edition they spew out! Buy used books and support textbooktorrents.com !
- Hangly, on 04/11/2008, -0/+23/4 of my downloads are ebooks (from Demonoid.) I'm going to have to buy a bigger brain with as much as I'm cramming into it.
- debuffplx, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Not really. Usenet has a much bigger selection - especially for niche interests like language learning, audio books ect.
- Zaggynl, on 04/11/2008, -1/+2Good thing the new admin also made a statement, and we know his name :/
- h4mx0r, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Then the prophecy has come true. Demonoid has returned.
- mptsxtps, on 04/11/2008, -2/+2I just hope I still get my account back when it comes back in full force.
- adml_shake, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2I think this was brought up last time a story about them coming back was brought up. The user database is still intact so your old login should still work.
- twoblink, on 04/11/2008, -1/+6I'm gonna buy beer just to celebrate this occasion.
Ladies and Gentlemen.. Start your BT Engines!!- zongamin, on 04/11/2008, -11/+3You're a ***** sad individual.
- plytheman, on 04/11/2008, -1/+4Hey, any excuxe to drink is a good one by me!
- S1lkySm00th, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Do you really need an excuse?
- zeabu, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Yes, drinking without excuse is pathetic. Celebrating it's 11 in the morning is not.
- zongamin, on 04/11/2008, -11/+3You're a ***** sad individual.
- mcorone, on 04/11/2008, -4/+2Long live the hydra!
- baconz, on 04/11/2008, -3/+4I'm always wary when a questionably illegal site such as a torrent site magically reappears. Maybe my tinfoil hat is on too tight, but I imagine back-room deals were made with the NSA, RIAA, FBI et al to allow the site to come back on "certain conditions". The website gets to make loads of cash, and the gubmint has all the personal data they need, and the users are unaware. I'll stick to usenet while it remains out of the spotlight (for now).
- zongamin, on 04/11/2008, -2/+3You are so clever. The RIAA, MPAA have never heard of usenet and they will never think to start tracking you on there too.
- arcooke, on 04/11/2008, -0/+5They can't "track" you there like they can with torrents. When you download a torrent, you make direct connections with other machines, so your IP is clearly visible to people you are uploading data to or downloading data from. Whereas on usenet, the uploader uploads to the ISP or private usenet service, and the downloader simply downloads from it. In order for the RIAA/MPAA/etc to get your info they specifically contact the owners of the service for logs of who downloaded what. There's a lot more red tape for them with usenet.

- slowburnmuc, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2RSS feeds are already up and running again! yay!
- kinggimped, on 04/11/2008, -2/+3***** THE RIAA & MPAA. ***** them up their stupid asses.
- Spyder810, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2For all of you questioning whether this is real or not, it was posted on the subdemon forums by Deimos here >> http://www.subdemon.com/forum/index.php?topic=1756 ... . So I can only assume that is is in fact real, because he wouldn't have posted something like this otherwise.
- arcooke, on 04/11/2008, -10/+1I'm not trying to troll here... but honestly, Demonoid was one of the worst private trackers I've ever used, and I've used many of them. It was rarely ever faster than any public trackers. It has so many members that the only reason it could be considered "private" is that it required a sign-up. Almost anyone could snag an invite.. and if they couldn't, sign-ups were open at least once a month.
One thing demonoid DID have was a huge selection of things that you couldn't find anywhere else, and they almost always had seeders.
I just hope it improves the 2nd time around.- Winston84, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2Demonoid wasn't a private tracker, DHT was (is !!) allowed .
Douchebag, STFU . - robthom, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3"One thing demonoid DID have was a huge selection of things that you couldn't find anywhere else, and they almost always had seeders. "
What more do you want? A reach around to! Jeeesh!
Where are these private trackers that are better than demon was? I've never heard of them. And if I've never even heard of them fat chance of there being any seeds let alone being fast.- zeabu, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2funfile's fast. But Demonoid is bigger. Ill go for tht, when it's back up.
- hilikus34, on 04/11/2008, -1/+2Lol. If you've never heard of them than there is probly a reason.
- zeabu, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2funfile's fast. But Demonoid is bigger. Ill go for tht, when it's back up.

- Hangly, on 04/11/2008, -0/+9I had a dream last night about Demonoid coming back, and look here it is!
Yes, I sometimes have dreams about bittorrent sites. Please don't hurt me.- AzureRise, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2*Gets out the whipping pole*

- willemvzyl, on 04/11/2008, -1/+16I got Digg #666... About a Demonoid article... That must be a good sign ;).
- liveer, on 04/11/2008, -0/+0well.I hope it can become what it once was again.
- iXneonXi, on 04/11/2008, -8/+1It's a trap!
Also, ***** the RIAA! - buddamus, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Long live Demonoid.
- QsheiK, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Serious question, since I'm not terribly familiar with Demonoid...
What did they offer that other torrent sites such as Pirate Bay and Mininova didn't that makes them so popular?- MrTulip, on 04/11/2008, -0/+9due to its semi-privateness generally good dl-rates and due to its semi-openess an unmatched collection of rarities and fringe stuff.
- chillbeast, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4Yea, lots of stuff you couldn't find elsewhere, very few dead torrents, and those that were dead, you could generally get someone to seed again by just posting a request for it. I don't think i ever ran into any fake/virii torrents that were on the demonoid tracker(found a couple fakes on external trackers but yea..)
- robthom, on 04/11/2008, -0/+4You had to be there. I didn't understand either until I experienced it.
:) - Crisender111, on 04/11/2008, -0/+3It had great & ever-helpful community. The mods & users weeded out all bad torrents. Generous seeders. Quite lenient ratio restriction. Finally, it was God-sent. No really.
- zoom56ok, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1How? I want it to come back, but I can't see how it's going to work with the law knowing exactly who and where they are. I'll go read the story at torrentfreak, because I can't imagine how they're going to avoid the trouble they had last time.
