- drakino, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2eyemandy, all LCDs will look blurry to some extent when not running at their native resolution. In games, it's not a huge deal. For Windows (or OS X or whatever), make sure to run the main desktop at the normal resolution, in this case 1680x1050.
If the LCD acts similar to the LCDs in their laptops at 1680x1050, 1280x960 and 1280x1024 work fine with black bars. In many cases, desktop scaling is both a function of the monitor and the video card. ATI cards have several scaling options, as do NVidia cards. Make sure to use DVI, and check your display control panel. - truk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've got 2. Like Dietrich said, a little weirdness of the backlight and for some reason they look reddish from an angle. But its a great picture, and a pretty good refresh rate... and for the price a hell of a deal compared to other monitors with comparable resolutions. I'd recommend them overall.
- IceBurn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey ThePug,
You're wrong there. I got one of these the last time around and I had a dead pixel. Too bad Dell won't exchange it for less then 5 dead pixels. :( - Dietrich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've got one, here's a mini-review: Good picture but they have issues with backlight bleed in the corner. Make sure to scrutinize yours before you get too attached to it.
- hypeiv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1btw this isn't the lowest price ever... it was $5 cheap a few months ago... and some people over at slickdeals claim they have gotten it for $25 cheaper at one time... but its still a great deal.
- hass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bought this monitor a couple months ago for $470 after coupons, and I have to say I love it. The screen is huge and the colors are very vibrant. I believe it's the same pannel that Apple uses in their displays but the Dells are cheaper. I would have gotten the 24" if I could afford it. It also has DVI, analog, s-video, and composit inputs. It has PIP and PBP for the s-video and composit inputs. Haven't played any games on it yet, but the 19" monitor is on sale, too if that's what you're looking for. If your looking for a monitor jump on this deal.
- shanafme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Been waiting for the dells to go on sale again. Just picked it up :)
- dnouche, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Make sure you apply both coupons.
- ThePug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dell monitors are the best. No dead pixels.
- stheo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Best price i can come up with after the coupons is 426.85? How are you getting $389?
- phore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I have one of these and they are GREAT. I kind of wish I got this deal for it though.
- incu_vamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wish those worked in canada :(
- SuperRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just might get in on this. I could get two of these for the same price as the 24" widescreen they have. Then again, I couldn't do native 1080p with my HDTV Wonder, but I might make that sacrifice ...
- fullbore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I could have gotten this off Slickdeals.net but why would I be hanging out there on a Friday night? Digg is way cooler and just as informative!
- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I already have one, but this almost makes we want to buy a second one dual wide screen monitors would rock. Rotated vertically two vertical next to each other may even be close to a normal monitor aspect ratio, though having wide screen is great for movies.
- jmccorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Create your own dead pixels."
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dang thats way too big....prefer a 17" lcd for resolution unless you get really set the resolution pretty high
- Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just got my 2005FPW today. It's all set up using DVI and a real nice 1680x1050 wallpaper. I must say, this monitor is amazing! I personally have never seen such a beautiful display in my life! It was worth every penny I paid and more. And it's the perfect size for the dorm room desk I'll be using at college this fall! P.S. Here's that wallpaper I'm using. Anyone with a widescreen display (up to 1920 x 1200), check it out... http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/details.php?id=168
- eyemandy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My roommate said, "...when we setup their new Dells, letters were blurry at 1024x768 and they don't like 1280x1024. it looked ok for an analog at native 1280x1024 but not like a digital flat screen." Is he just trying to talk his way out of getting me one or is this true?
- Tonyisbad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just ordered one, can't beat 389 shipped with no taxes to Ct, this was a no brainer, i just put up 300GB hard drive and my old amd 64 3200+ CPU on eBay. So those to will pay for this monitor, so worth it, now i can finally get rid of this HUGE 19" CRT monitor! Such a great deal, i had to cancel a previous order i put in to dell for their 19" one. 20.1 inches of wide-screen LCD goodness here i come!
- fartonmyear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it works fine with minis
- bryantee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How do these perform on Mac Minis?
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hot - my wife and I were looking at the 1905FP for $287 ... gotta try convince here that that extra 1.1" makes a difference :)
- greatromance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just placed my order. $389 shipped. One question tho, i've been researching and I haven't found any compatibily complaints with the Radeon 9200SE not being able to output at the native 1680x1050, but it wasn't listed on the compatibiliy list on the dell site. And the ATI specs don't mention a 1680x1050 either. Am I gonna need to upgrade my card to get this thing to look good?
- damonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow! I ordered this Friday night (7/22) and its scheduled for delivery Tuesday 7/26! NICE!
- fartonmyear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i got one
- Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank you sooo much for posting this deal. I was going to buy the Dell 2001FP (20.1" 4:3 1600x1200) for $524.30 tomorrow, but thanks to the price of this one, I just placed my order. What a deal! $412.76 after taxes.
- dazzed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0$749 - 40% off coupon W34XRDP2KW2K90 - $60 off $500 coupon C07TR1WFGJ18SF = $389 w/ free shipping
I bought this monitor a month ago thinking $464 was the lowest I would see it. This monitor is insane, I love it. I can surf the net, watch a movie, and chat with my friends with out having to put a window in front of another.
Also, HL2 is freaking amazing in widescreen. - DarkHeartedFool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what 2 coupons are you referring to?
I cant get the price below $466.
In plain english please what are the coupon codes? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they're outta stock.. I just got an email stating it's backordered for about 3-4 weeks, :-(
