- fugazi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+51First off its beat and then you say you hate when people cry dupe but do exactly that. So in short you are an idiot.
- gregmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+48portable desktop and portable gym
- rasty, on 10/12/2007, -9/+47I'd call it a "Transportable" rather than "Portable"...!
- dsander, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35I ciould not stop lauging at the pics. That thing is a tank.
- Wootery, on 10/12/2007, -5/+36Consider it done.
- zeiben, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31It's like driving a humvee. You think everyone is staring at you with envy, when, in fact, they are just marvelling at what a colossal douche you are.
- TransmitThis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22You may find my quick edit of a 19" Laptop funny, or not :)

I think I am the mirror daddy ;-) - UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20I think the 17" are even to big.
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Really quite good. It doesn't use Sony batteries (Dell learnt that lesson). It uses a hydrocarbon based liquid fuel power generator made by Honda. According to Home Depot (don't you get all your tech supplies from Home Depot?), it gets 7.5hrs (basically a full day of work) on a single 8G tank.
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Lets hope for the sake of the world that that laptop didn't have a Sony battery in it.
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Certainly it is, but the word "Transportable" makes it sound more cumbersome and massive by association.
- bebop717, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Well since you only bet him and did not "beat" him I dont see what is the big deal.
- rbvmusic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Surprised he didn't get mugged.
- blake213, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Brooklyn in the 80's maybe. Today it's as nice a place as Manhattan.
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13It's starting to slow down...
http://duggmirror.com/tech_news/Day_Around_Town_With_the_20_Notebook_Pics - tsunamisteve, on 10/12/2007, -9/+15Gigantic laptops are one my biggest pet peeves. I don't care if it's more about having a "portable desktop" rather than a laptop or notebook--these things are too big.
- BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Did you write the article? No, so chill out.
- Sp0rAdiC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+818.3 pounds?! Jesus I didn't realize they made laptops that heavy.
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6And both of these are opinions that you are fully entitled to. However, what about a LAN party? I'm betting one of these is easier to carry than a full tower (especially if you go all out on your cooling solution) and a monitor (even an LCD can be heavy for gamers who don't do much heavy lifting... *cough*).
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's the perfect "gamer" laptop. Because we need it...
- bobbygeorgina, on 10/12/2007, -0/+520.1 inch LCD, adjustable display, removable bluetooth keyboard, carrying handle, 18.3 pounds, webcam, eight speakers, sub woofer, pop-up slot-loading DVD drive, full-sized keyboard, numeric keypad, media keys on the base and the keyboard, full-sized bluetooth optical mouse included, 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processor, 2GB RAM, Dual 6-cell battery, over 3 hours of use with everything on and running, 256MB video memory, radio frequency (not no stinkin' infrared) remote control (with onboard LCD, media center keys, wireless mouse abilities), external TV tuner, Blu-ray drive option by year's end, etc.
Did I mention this was a laptop? - RichSPK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Regardless of whether or not a 20-inch notebook makes any sense, that's an amusing piece! I love the expression on the guy's face to stage-right on the subway! Oh, I see mikedpirone beat me to that observation.
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4duggmirror doesn't have all of the rest of the links. anyone got those (or know how to duggmirror them)?
- lowlevel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Certainly it is, but the word "Transportable" makes it sound more cumbersome and massive by association
... Yes, exactly what it is. I think he hit the nail on the head there. ;) - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Duggmirror is down...way to crash the intarwebs.
- falcon707, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What's the battery life on that thing? 20 seconds?
- crashingechelon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@UNL1M1T3D
That's what I thought about the 17" PowerBook. I thought 17" was too big and now Dell just proved me other wise. I'm still convinced a 15" notebook is the biggest they should go. - DragonQuester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Man...thats a big-ass laptop! Wish I had one.
- Bigdee4933, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I wonder what battery life is like?
- Kelmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@UNL1M1T3D
It's a tough decision to make these days. I'm using a 15" PowerBook as my day-to-day computer these days but will upgrade to a 17" MacBook Pro once Apple gets around to refreshing the range with a Merom processor. I am concerned that 17" will make the computer less portable since I use my laptop pretty much everywhere but since I don't use an additional display I also value the screen space that I have on the laptop itself. I hope that 17" won't be 2" too far but I am definitely certain that the featured laptop in this article can't be called a "laptop" (or even "notebook"). Personally, I look on the Dell as more of a "proof of concept" rather than a legitimate product but I guess they must have a market in mind rather than the average road warrior. - degustibus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Same way I used to lug my Kaypro 4 around town. To the envy of all those deskbound IBM mainframe users.
- mikedpirone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The look on the guys face in that subway picture is pricelss.
- darkamster07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2whats the point!? if people watch movies on their little ipod screens I am sure that a normally sized notebook will be fine. Also that thing looks like *****
- TokenUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mightn't be right for this purpose, but I can see a huge benefit for client meetings and tradeshows.
- Averain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those pics were hilarious. For his next series he should try taking it through airport security.
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Especially if used as a bullet shield.
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Should that thing have wheels?
- mathie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5It's way too big to carry around, and it looks disgusting too. It's simply a desktop
- 0v3rk1ll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, they invented that phrase just for you, lil'zilla.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I soooooooo want to paint that thing. Send me one dell, please!
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hehe, this reminds me of the actor, who played Mini-Me in Austin Powers movies, with his 17" PowerBook on an Apple TV ad.
- gbaderek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Last week I got my inspiron 1505 and I thought the 15.4 wide screen was pretty big. That laptop is is pretty cool but to big i think. I wounder how upgradeable it is. Would be nice if you can change parts in it like a desktop but i bet its all integrated. I bet the battery life on it sucks though
- laserone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Back when I got my first laptop, was it 1999? I got a Gateway, it was the biggest screen on the market at the time. I took it to the university library and a guy actually TRIPPED over a chair doing a double-take looking at my screen. hehehe. It turned heads. Nowadays it's pretty standard tho'.
- jones20992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i think this would be great for the oilfield man who never leaves his truck but one thing i don't get the review on it says it has a rj-41 port and the dell site says nothing about this i think it would be way cool if it did even if i never plug in my laptop in to a t-1
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Time to invent the foldable lcd screen
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1puch maybe i should have just meantioned it looked like he was compensating for something.
I have just noticed people that brag about having the best, biggest, or fastest tend to be the smallest. - masterkenobi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Or Bushwick? That place is really ghetto!
