- INHUMANITY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Real or not it was a good read. :)
- btdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Dave Chappelle being held down by two Nation of Islam goons who drugged his wife and put a colt 45 to his head"
Ok i call ***** on this one. Everyone knows brothas carry 9mm - Deenem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2View the page source. There's Javascript at the bottom for a web traffic analysis service (http://www.onestat.com/ Account ID : 259530).
No anonymous insider is going to go to the trouble of paying for a traffic analysis service for their conspiracy website. Clearly this is some sort of marketing site. - datapimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the article was for pure enjoyment, people need to realize that all news is skewed. Real or fake this article was written well and provided some entertaining moments. Dave Chappelle is a great comedian perhaps he just ended his career on his own terms, unlike that of Jim Morrison or others that had instant fame.
thanks to the author for putting this together and paying for the web space. I enjoyed what you had to offer in ways of entertaining my and making me think.
the trouble with DIGG at times is that people are too opinionated to realize that all news is entertainment. find 1 paper that is not biased and tilts the story to their favor. especially when they have a stake in a company or political party that they are writing about. RANT RANT RANT
so stop calling people stupid and peoples craft stupid.
Cheers,
DP - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The answer to this is very, very, very simple:
Either Bill Cosby will sue or he won't.
Remember "House of Cosby"? How long did that last before the world famous comedian reveal that he doesn't have a sense of humor when it comes to using his name without getting paid.
If it stays up longer than a month, it's viral marketing (with the assumption that Bill has given is consent).
In the mean time, those of you who took it seriously probably need to ask yourself some deep and disturbing questions. - garg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All the people announcing to us that this story is "CRAP" and "nonsense" and "*****" need to relax and understand that it's a JOKE.
- kris2pe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1BTW this is a "theory" not even close to real life facts! The one that gave Chappelle a chance was not Bill Cosby or Oprah or someother person but it was actually Eddie Murphie or his brother! But amazing round up of conspiracy theory which I would presume Dave Chappelle made to hype-up his TV once again!!! Folks this just if I am correct a viral marketing thing that their doing!!!
- CronicusX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well...fake or not, it was a good read, as Inhumanity said.
- Slimer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1from tfa:
"The package — which arrived via UPS — contained a picture of Chappelle's sleeping children, taken the night before [CHRISTMAS] in Chappelle's house. A person who appeared to be of Al Sharpton's build was standing next to their beds." - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting, but probably complete BS. Look, Whoppi Goldberg has done more than her share of making money off black stereotypes, she shouldn't talk. Oprah's main hook is that she is black. Farrakahan, OTOH is just completely insane, so maybe I wouldn't put any of this past him.
I never really liked Chappelle's sense of humor, but if people like it, hey, whatever works. I also have a hard time when "the establishment" takes somebody down. Chappelle was making piles of money for the Comedy Channel. The would hire their own goons to fight off other goons, if necessary, to keep the money train on track.
I think Chappelle just self destructed, with little or any input or influence from others. - deadfrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm more certain that this is Viral Marketing. Here's the weblog for Jason Hill, one of the owners of weblinc

The Chappelle Theory is his most recent post. Twice. - Slimer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1`"The local police appeared to have been doing nothing to ensure the protection of Chappelle and his family. There was talk of the department being in negotiations with BET and Oprah's production company — which may explain why."
This article is ridiculous, if you're really high, read it and go on ahead and imagine that the 7 most recognizable black entertainers in America who were behind a conspiracy that terrorized the lives of Dave chappel, and his wife and children are also after you.
However, on the other hand, this article is really ridiculous. and it's really long. i mean if this isn't true, this guy did a lot of ***** writing making his web page.
THIS IS NOT A NEWS STORY. but as far as conspiracy theories go, it's not a bad read!
Skeet skeet skeet skeet skeet - smekosh, on 01/09/2009, -0/+0The disclaimer linked on the page starts with this:
"Stating the obvious: We'd like to thank the bulk of you for not thinking, it makes the satire and parody that much easier. We've been pretty proud of the results so far."
It continues to state:
"Absolutely none of the information on this site has been verified to be true and, if you haven't been able to tell, it isn't affiliated with any of the people or companies mentioned on this site." - doctorpants, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Still a good read, fiction or not.. Kind of like a short story...
- DaManRigel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I loved this story!! not a believer, however there were times in which they had me thinking. And I agree with those who state that we must take this story (along with others of its type) in its artistic aspect. I do believe that whoever thought this out (more importantly, who actually spent the time to write it) had a lot of time (or money from sponsors) on their hands. Eventhough, some statements do classify the creator of this story a "HABITUALLY LINE STEPPER!..."
**I wish I had more hands, so I can give those TITTIES FOUR THUMBS DOWN!...**
ASHY LARRY FOREVER!!!!!!!! And Thank goodness TIGER WOODS is FINALLY declared BLACK. that's the reason I bought a bootleg copy of his game; gotta support black business/entertainers!lol - spunknugget, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm practically from Yellow Springs, Ohio, population, oh maybe a thousand. It's a good 45 minutes from Dayton Airport, and prolly 1.5 hours from Cinci airport... yeah tiny little hardcore hippy college town (Antioch University), with a wiccan bookstore and lots of little artists shops... yeah Bill Cosby and Louis Farrahkan who up ALL the time. Every fortnight they stumble down down to the Emporium for some hardcore Colombian coffee.
It's a funny read though, but then bird-***** crazy is usually entertaining. - ranjur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How is it racist if it portrays Dave Chappelle (a black man) as the victim and protagonist of this whole mess? They're (jessie HI_jackson& co.) just trying to keep the crap rolling so they can pretend they give a damn about black america. OPPRE$$ION MY ASS! It's just the same old scam.
- wyrder42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stopped buying it as soon as they said "secret cabal". Almost *sort of* (not really) started buying into it again on the next page when they had pictures of who the secret cabal supposedly were. *smirk*
But, nah this is obviously fake-y, tabloid crap. You can tell by the *style* of the writing as much as anything else. If you're gonna make me fall for a con-job, you'll have to at least be able to make it *sound* real. Real news spends a lot less time building up tension, it just gets out and says, "hey, this is what happened." I realize some documentaries *don't* do this, but then again--documentary, these days, is really just a style of film making, it's not necessarily even remotely unbiased or realistic.
I voted this story as "lame". I humbly suggest others do the same. Lame, stupid, fake stories like this hurt the credibility of the site. At this point, all we're doing is acting as free "buzz" marketing for some dumb-ass website. - suprawes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That site is registered at the same place that comedydentral.com is and the expiration dates are only 1 day apart. Seems pretty fishy to me. But the story is funny, worth the read!
- brundlefly76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gee, an anonymous web page which summarizes the bios of some of the finest and most successful entertainers in show business by listing any civil suits against them and suggests them as death-threatening members of an African-American cabal, with zero evidence and 100% heresay.
ARE YOU PEOPLE REALLY THAT GULLIBLE?
Whats even more disturbing are the people who said whether it was true or not, it was an interesting read - omg. - mathew_bug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That couldn't be true, ever. But it sure is a good and interesting read.
Oprah in your bed room, standing on top of you, holding a whip:
- "You've been a naughty naughty boy, Dave...!"
*skeet skeet skeet*
That's a nice image right there... - DiggedBy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So many holes, as the previous hundred comments have stated... but i would love for this be true! definite digg. it really annoys me when diggers go on the 'where's the tech' rant. That's why this is a SOCIAL bookmarking site... this site is shaped by it's readers, you know that, go back to slashdot if you don't like it!
- TheMiddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*shrugs* who cares if it was real or not... it was entertaining.
- ranjur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Most of the people mentioned, with the exception of perhaps Bill Cosby, are a bunch of racist scumbags. Dave Chappelle was making big strides, revealing a lot of truth about race relations in this country, just pulling everything out in the open. On the other hand, you have people like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and company, who try and hide the truth about their plans on keeping the black community on handouts. It doesn't seem too farfetched to think that these people would plot against Dave, and I am severely angered by the idea.
- ToeCheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Reality went out the door after the fact that many of these people wanted to get Chappelle off the air. Many of these crusaders were also against R. Pryor. The difference is that Richard Pryor would talk about it publicly with reporters, friends and at times on stage.
- whig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Marketing to paranoid potheads. No digg.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man, given that all this BS was made up, I think someone is getting sued! I have a hard time believing this came from the Chappelle camp, since this really hits below the belt, and drags a lot of big names through the mud. Even Chappelle wouldn't go so low.

Lol. - shiftless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I belive it. I never thought of it from this viewpoint, but when that many people are ***** with you, you have to stop.
Poor guy must have gone through so much torment that last year :( - enterthepizza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"According to some of the documents left behind by the group, they seem to have emerged with a definite plan"
Hey let's call us self black crusaders and make some plans to deal with Dave Chapelle and leave our plans to deal with him in the hotel so some person can pick it up and rant about "the truth" on his site.
good read though, really funny :D - aussiehuw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok. What the ***** did I just read? So much effort put towards so much *****.
- twogunsalute, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this is total NONSENSE !!!!
- ksgant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, it went totally into LA-LA land when it said that Oprah beamed a special message straight to his house during the Tom Cruise interview...and it's amazing that no one else seems to ever have a tap of this.
Shenanigans! - garg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahaha. It might be a joke from the Chappelle team. His shows promo last night on "last laugh of 2005" was slightly similar to this.. had the same theme.
- thebusyant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0stopped reading long before the article says they could control his credit cards.
if you believe this, please e-mail me. I have some Enron stock that I can give to you for cheap. - kris2pe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow I finally finish reading the entire load of crap! There so many unbelievable events that would have me perplex
1.) Voice recording of Bill or Al are written several times in this site & can b made as actual evidence
2.) Oprah Winfrey in your house saying your next!!! God Lord!!!
3.) Black Crusader??? What the... My god this is foolish news!!! - procras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wows you can post anythings on teh intarweb
quick call Mr. Seigenthaler with the news flash! =P - awok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good read. The rise to stardom and fall to African drug rehabilitation clinic of Chappelle isn't a pretty one, and shows what happens when you're a young, aspiring black comedian who messes with his races most influential leaders
- yankee_7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a load of crap!!
- dealwitit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well the idea that the whole thing was a conspiracy seems like complete bull but like most people said, it was a good read.
- TheFlyingMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0viral marketing. i mean cmon, the ***** DARK CRUSADERS! Thats got Charlie Murphy written all over it.
- deadfrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Jason Hill also submitted the original Digg story, here:
http://www.digg.com/links/The_Chapelle_Theory - Oogler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Crap, pure crap other than some of these people may have a less than positive opinion of Chapelle's comedy. And I agree... where is the technology angle here... oh I remember, 'transmitting' a special version of Oprah just to Dave Chapelle's house. BULLS**T!!!!
- Estazor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't believe this is real for a couple reasons. One if it really happened Dave would have more than enough evidence (packages, dolls, calls, eye witnesses) to warrant atleast an investigation. Second I noticed that the site is very designed to fit the "conspiracy theory" theme. You noticed the typeface chosen and how the lines on the top and bottom are very rough edged. The pictures of everyone has dirt and grain on them to make it seem very worn out, used, and looked over. The fact that they bold and increases the size of each first letter of the paragraph to draw your attention. There's a lot more detail into this that someone spent a lot time to invest in. If someone did this and didn't want to be known he/she never would've spent so much time. It would provide too many traces back. Also what was said about the site being registered is again another reason.
Still a very good read that makes you think. - gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the ones that will benefit from this story are the ones that created it, i read it all yesterday, it has too much detail, if you were accusing these people and it was real you wouldnt mention it
- DJP26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, lakai's post is just riddled with hurtful racism.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'd say *****
- chosenone-, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice thorough read.
Why are people so hesitant to acknowledge that there are interest groups in America with great power willing to do anything to accomplish what they see as "right?"
"you could never get a group of African Americans together to do something of this magnitude"
That's just ***** racist. - Vill4no, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It might be all *****, but it a ***** great read.
DIGG!! - elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This proves that Courtney killed Kurt. Watch your back Dave, that crazy bitch is on your ass now.
