http://digg.com/tech_news/Danish_Copyright_Censors ... - cyrusthevirus, on 05/18/2008, -2/+16***** censorship... The government needs to grow a backbone and stop letting lobbies like the IFPI push it around.
- dorkdork777, on 05/18/2008, -0/+11The Great Firewall of Denmark?
- suppazone, on 05/18/2008, -1/+10Did Torrentfreak actually bother to understand the proposal at all ( I guess they do not read Danish)? It comes from the Danish Socialist People’s party. Right now the copyright holders will contact the ISP and ask them to block the content. More often than not the ISP will ignore this and be taken to court. As a result they are often forced to either block or disconnect the affected customer or site.
In the same way as we now have a council for handling domain name disputes they are proposing a council to handle copyright disputes. This way the Copyright holders cannot play the “money muscle” and force the ISP the same way as is happened with tele2. I would much rather have a dedicated council for these matters than some random judge who thinks the internet is a blue e. - greenlight2001, on 05/18/2008, -2/+10***** THING SUCKS!
- tomsentest, on 05/18/2008, -1/+9The Danish MPs and Courts have no fundamental understanding of the Internet, if you knew how messed up things were here... TorrentFreak would have a lot more to write about.
- esssential, on 05/18/2008, -0/+7Remember the last issue with censorship in Denmark? ***** gonna get real.
***** off abszint. - Tubilakken, on 05/18/2008, -0/+6i live in Denmark... ***** *****
- Winston84, on 05/18/2008, -0/+4NO you don't .
As a dane I have to agree with abszint :
***** the denmark, there is something very rotten here . - StuartGibson, on 06/14/2009, -2/+6Yeah, but you're not MrBabyMan.
Wait... - AlanFang, on 05/18/2008, -0/+4I guess the government better than us which websites we should go to. It's a slippery slope to the government full out censoring legal and important information.
- D4CH, on 05/18/2008, -1/+4***** you too :)
- Pixelante, on 05/18/2008, -4/+7Something is rotten in the kingdom of Danemark
And, unfortunately, it will spread. - toshibu, on 05/18/2008, -0/+3Whatever happened to freedom of speech and clashes of civilizations? Oh, yeah...
- ScrewedThePooch, on 05/18/2008, -0/+3proxy?
- cnot3, on 05/18/2008, -0/+3There is no such thing as censorship in the digital age. If people want to see something they WILL see it. Censorship breeds dissidence; this will end up biting them in the ass.
- philodygmn, on 05/19/2008, -0/+2I dugg you both. What Digg needs is culling so you can leverage what your friends call the same story. Voting on descriptions wouldn't hurt, either.
- Sundowner, on 05/18/2008, -0/+2Meh, hes got the idea =P
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+2Let's say for a moment you are right (which you aren't, but we could argue that all day.) Have you ever heard of the 'slippery slope' of eroding a freedom? The next restriction is easier to pass, and the next even easier. The Patriot act that we are living under in the U.S. is a great example. Let them take one freedom from you, even a little bit, and all of your freedoms become fair game.
- SoxFanNH, on 05/18/2008, -0/+2And I thought the US was on the relative bad end with this stuff, guess not.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -1/+3***** THE RIAA!
- blacklilyninja, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1they'll just move elsewhere.... which is awesome
- Redzin, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1"Savage" filesharing as you call it will ofcourse destroy some of the record labels, that is enevitable. But the thing is, this happens every single time a new technology is developed. Robots are doing the jobs of what millions of people used to do. Filesharing sites and torrents will be doing the job the record companies used to do.
Trying to block these things insead of embracing them is like peeing your pants - it warms for a few moments, then it gets ice cold and nasty.
And humans will always make music. We always have, we always will. The internet is not gonna change that, although it will change the way we distribute it. Remember, there was music before the RIAA was formed. ;) - csidle, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Idiot.
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1So the corporations (American ones?) are taking over Denmark? Well something does stink in Denmark then ay?
- annoia, on 05/18/2008, -4/+5First of all, it's Denmark, not THE Denmark... Much like it's Abszint, not THE Abszint. 2nd of all, thank you for that eloquent assessment of what should be done about the situation.
- lukasmack, on 05/18/2008, -2/+2Sorry but digg used to have standards of digging people up? At the time of typing this guy had 4 diggs and in his comment he has racism and complains about the much improved comment system. What has happened digg?
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -3/+3Don't worry. MakiMaki will delete this one :))
- inactive, on 05/20/2008, -0/+0YOU GUYS WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The raw power of passion & the spirit of cinema come together. Check this out to see what I really mean. http://www.film-crew.blogspot.com/ - arock118, on 05/18/2008, -2/+1Thanks but no thanks. Maybe you should switch internet providers to Tele2
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -2/+1Well, the fact that it is stealing is an objective truth as far as the law is concerned. You breach copyright laws, etc... It's not that difficult to see where it leads.
And which freedom do you speak of exactly ? The freedom to run a torrent site dedicated to helping breaching the law ? Wow, you're right, everyone call the president ! We have to get a law voted to protect that right !
Savage filesharing as TPB will kill all smaller independent labels and bands before it does any real damage to the so bemoaned giant corporations. A band on TPB is not free publicity, it's just free for the taking. Sure, some people will send a few bucks and go to their concert but that does not cover for the loss savage P2P brings. And should music that does not make sense as a live performance just die too ? - inactive, on 05/19/2008, -3/+1Why not ? Sites such as TPB are only here to facilitate stealing software and media. Objectively, why would that be so wrong ?
- arock118, on 05/18/2008, -6/+1I speak for Denmark when I say "No, ***** you abszint" Also we prefer if you capitalize the name of the country, it is a proper noun.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -13/+7***** the Danes. And ***** this slow ass comment system.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -14/+3***** the denmark!
