- ThePhilomath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's only essays on the topic basically, there's no child porn, and they're just talking about it. What's the matter here? Sure the authors may be sick but they can say what they will as long as they don't do anything.
And indeed there are cultures where pedophelia was normal, I think that most greek men were bisexual and had young boy lovers, and that was their cultural norm. Should I be put into jail and ridiculed for that statement?
I think not. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1to defend EVERYONE's rights. The people talking about having sex with kids have the RIGHT to talk about it. As long as they don't ACT ON THAT. The action is illegal. I can talk about killing Kevin Rose. That's not against the law. If I actually tried to, or did, kill him, that's illegal.
They have the right to talk about whatever they want.
You're pretty much saying "OMG CENSOR THIS CUZ I DUN LIK IT LOL" and that's why everyone is pissed at Google right now. Because they censored what China wanted them to.
No matter what you're censoring, censorship is wrong.
There is no argument that can be pro censorship and pro 1st amendment at the same time. - rxdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This coming from a group that defends NAMBLA, who DOES act on what they preach.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0to defend the kids I hope you're referring to
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I forgot to mention that I'm a card carrying ACLU member. They're everyone's ***** rights, and it's everyone's goddamned responsibility to defend them!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0On the page when you click, you see the DMOZ page full of pro pedophile sites being listed. The bad content will be on the sites that are listed on that page, not the page itself.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is the problem with censorship. If they aren't actually DOING anything, but only TALKING about things that are against the law, they're not BREAKING the law. By not censoring discussion, they're not supporting child pornography.
It's ignorant people like you that get the government in everyone's goddamned buisness censoring every damn thing. If you don't like it, don't read it. Don't ask someone else to censor it for you. Self-censor. - znxster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0scary as it seems.. yes i dislike the content.. yes i personally would like it removed but.. no i wouldnt remove it.. it is categorized.. you cant say that you stumbled upon it like you could with google so in someway this is better than the random search, instead i can simply not go there..
- DoubtfulSalmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@gab00n: You'd fit in really well with all those politicians who fight like madmen (and madwomen) to censor foreign movies that they've never seen, "to protect" someone or other.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How exactly do child porn and foreign movies corrolate?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And here is a little bit more about the subject matter:
http://blog.psychlinks.ca/2006/02/aol-owned-dmoz-directory-promotes.html - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0rx, what does the L in NAMBLA stand for? Seriously, some of the points make sense. Who's to say that nobody is ready for sex until 18?
Acting on what they do is illegal, and they are arrested for breaking the law when they break it. All I'm saying is that you have to defend the freedom we have with everything we've got. - pgm_01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is nothing illegal whatsoever on those pages. Just because you find the THOUGHTS disturbing they are just that, thoughts. Actions are prosecutable in most nations and none of those sites have any material that would be inappropriate, even in the US.
- rxdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Tell you the truth, I would like to know who these people are. Let them speak out. Let them say who they are so we can say "stay far away from these people." If you supress their speech they will find other ways to let you know who they are. We don't want that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You're just afraid of what is different. A few hundred years ago, they were the "normal" people.
If it wasn't against the law, if they made it up to the people involved in the relationship as to when they had sex and at what age, would there still be a problem? - gab00n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I haven't clicked the link but if you have to warn then i think this should absolutely not be posted.
