- brakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I created an account demo/demo if you want to try it out.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Word of Caution, don't trust this with real data.
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Arrrg, you are right !!!
That's the problem when you try the systems in Firefox (Linux and Windows) and Safari. Never assume that Microsoft will work !! They are in a different dimension .....
We are fixing it right away. Thanks a lot. - IHaveIssues, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I agree. Lack of any posted contact information raises a big red flag for me.
- Grimmeh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That's all of them, then.
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Now should work in non-standards browsers ... :)
- Maldy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Excellent app. C'mon ppl - let's not get hung up on whether this is spam or insecure. It's an open source project, you can take the source for free and if privacy is an (understandable) concern, run it on your own server. Great effort.
- Arkitus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7You can't really call it an OS since the main point of an OS is to interface the hardware.
- sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4there's your problem right there:
"I'm using IE6" (I'm a dumbass) - Grimmeh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4There is a reason that people don't like spam. I've got 30-40 open source web projects sitting on my server. Should I add them all to Digg?
No, I should not. - jfsiii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Welcome to eyeOS.info, where you can create and use your own eyeOS Virtual Desktop. If you don't know what is eyeOS or just want to find more information, you can visit the eyeOS main website [link to eyeOS.org]."
Am I the only one who thinks it's backwards to have .INFO as the *functional* site and .ORG as the *informational* site? - Tripptdf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Eye OS has a LOT of potential! I'm running 0.8.11 on my server, and It is becoming a great collaborative tool. I just wish it had shared calendars!
- jimmy8091, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good use of the crossbrowser.com public scripts. Digg+
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Awesome.
+digg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Try using Firefox:
http://www.getfirefox.com/ - xxdesmus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2really freaking old, but thanks...
- mbrindam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dugg for coolness... I don't think it's anything I'd actually use though.
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Opera should be working now ..... so many browsers now :)
- Mental64, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Sure does feel like it doesn't it.
- idris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Screenshot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/candyz/103002079/
- gluon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anybody remember Desktop.Com? It was a very similar concept but they suffered an ill-fate due to a failure of adoption. I thought their technology was pretty cool but possibly before its time. If I remember correctly, then even had a C-compiler and an API to create your own custom applications.
- Tripmoneyuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it has an internet browser called eyeNav on the taskbar.
Works well but i'd rather host it on my own server. - hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Awful colors ? Change the theme !!!
- spy1325, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what about Goowy? isnt this the same thing. exactly the same thing..
- mrops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2NO not another company that wants your Data.
You can download eyeOS and put it on your server as long as it supports PHP. - GreenSlabOfClay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Tried to go here so I don't have to register and it timesout.
http://www.eyeos.org/
I'm surprised anyone is developing apps like this given that Google wants to rule the world. - Karyyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The browser would be eyeNAV, for those who missed it.
- prowling-tiger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is awesome!!!!!
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The difference is that you can have a server for your workgroup, all sharing applications and docs and sending internal messages to each other. And you can add tailor made applications. Also, being GPL, you can install it in your own serve, or even use the USB stick version we have (the miniserver) ..... and all of them for free ... :)
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't get it. Why the flip would you use this?? If you want somewhere nice to store your files, use Box.net
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Then simply download it from http://eyeos.org and install it in your server :)
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is not old, we open new servers to give free accounts .... that is new....
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now its all working fine again
- Corgana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very innovative, but could stand to be faster...
definitley will stop by periodically to see how things are going. - tehJR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nice rip off of Mac OS X icons too.
Careful. - JayWright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can make it look like OS X. That is pretty sweet. It's WAY slow, but that's probably just due to all of us using it at the same time.
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Gahaha that's awesome. I guess you could eh?
- cypherz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kewl! Nice job guys! I for one welcome our new Web Desktop-Serving Overlords!
- hombrelobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The contact info is all in http://www.eyeos.org/People
- ra3or, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I logged into the OS...it's pretty cool but it doesn't come with an internet browser.
- kibblesnbitz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Great work guys. Very inovative and useful. I love the design.
- ironhorse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree, I wouldn't put anything sensistive on this since apart from a disclaimer they say you use it at your own risk! ie. if they do sell your info on, don't come crying.
It is also spam, but I guess advertising your own site is low on the Spam scale of bad things to do. - aonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im not sure what you did, did you guys develop eyeos? the one one eyeos.org?
or did you just take Eye OS and make it available on your site for people to use? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well, to try out we have www.eyeos.net/eyeOS (the demo server). But seems that the server load is fighting against us :).
- leehord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very cool. Although I think it's suffering slighty from the digg effect.
- EDantzer, on 10/12/2009, -0/+1im still using Goowy (www.goowy.com) that's enough for me.
- samsite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2good for you guys, its not span, possably self promotion, but there open source and there trying to make ar life easyer, and for free, so give them a break and ill try again once the digg affect stops killing ur servers
- stevievep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worked for me...after being bombarded by digg for about 20 minutes or so, I was still able to register and get on. Just saying, that in itself is pretty good. I'll explore it more later.
- Grimmeh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Great. And what would happen if everyone did that?
Silly people =[
Also - why in God's name does it need a calculator? - mixd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yet another site killed by digg - also why is this eyeos.info?? why not eyeos.org?
