No. Just no. - OBKenobi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Twitter is full of noobs. What kind of "buzz" are you going to find on there?
- HUKI365, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11I thought Twitter died three months ago? So glad I skipped that fad.
- crakbot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Facebook this, Twitter that...whatever.
In two years it will be plugtom this and ficklewinker that. - johndi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7All hype all the time. Sounds like a good way to get burned.
- wdr1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6*yawn*
- WikiEasy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Could that guy change his profile picture? Every time I see his articles I can't pay attention...
- SiNN4R, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6People that write blogs are not intresting.
- bubs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Twitter is the most self absorbed, "look at me" thing on the web. No one cares that you're drinking a cup of coffee or taking a dump.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Twitta what?!
- N3wtR0ckn13, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3how bout profit sharing for how much hype i generate on twitter daily called bs.
- Markpdotcom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4All spam all the time... ***** off Twitter. No one on Digg wants or cares about your spam. Its the same people digging your articles every time. Buried!
- prosayik, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Sorry, I'm too busy twittering about what kind of frappuccino I got to answer this. I can tell you this: its soy, and delicious.
- ClOlD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Probably, because not enough people use it.
- jambarama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I guess pownce is the logical sucessor to twitter. I got an invite, tried it out, and didn't feel like it filled any need I had. Don't get me wrong, it does neat stuff, but I like distance in communication (email), if I need immediate access I've got a phone. If anyone here wants an invite to pownce, just post your email (I'd recommend you obfuscate it somewhat), I've got a few left.
- controltheweb, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Can't they just implant something into my head so the voices can tell me what's important?
- dgp1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Also, I can't believe they just figured out search. I mean, that's one query: SELECT * FROM mindless_twitter_rantings WHERE text like '%$search_term%' LIMIT 20;
Somebody throw $50 million in VC at me, I'm a flippin' genius! - diggdeep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2No, it could not. I've experimented with twitter for about a month just to see what the hype was about. The character limit necessitates that I dumb down almost everything I say. At least among the small group that's testing it with me, the majority of posts are mundane or inside jokes.
Blogs, chat, forums, and email are infinitely more relevant than Twitter in terms of buzzflow. But because those media--especially chat and email--are where people actually say meaningful things, privacy concerns are much greater. I haven't yet seen a really successful "opt-in" model for mining and analyzing the wealth of data these media generate. - Markpdotcom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Or care about it. Twitter is the Paris Hilton of websites, a desperate attention seeking whore!
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I don't see why people enjoy twitter at all. I don't care about a guy in Minnesota drinking coffee and someone in the south mowing his lawn. Why does anyone visit that site?
- mrurc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If the IM client started working, maybe. I will not sign up my 10 free texts a month phone for twitter when I have a free unlimited data plan.
- Spankov, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No of course not.
- copyland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1perfect name, Twitter. Its for Twits.
- sq2shooter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I must be in the minority in finding Twitter the most useless thing ever. I tried it but quickly found I have little or no interest in discovering what you are doing for lunch. There is just nothing interesting on it. How people find it interesting is just beyond me.
- assassinave, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I second, third and hundereth the people that are bored with Twitter. Digg for example is a useful site for finding news and information that I do and do not enjoy reading. I think of many web 2.0 like ideas Digg fills a need. Twitter, Pownce, Del.icio.us and nearly every other social mixing idea just proves that people are at least thinking of doing great things, but they haven't reached something great yet and oddly enough have "angel" investors and VC's twisted up in loads of pending failure. Just imagine if we were putting all those resources into companies that could create and innovate new products to help out people in the Third World or even our own. This is seemingly more important than knowing what the editor of your favorite blog just had for dinner. Live vicariously through yourself, not the web.
- sophia269, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0i start using twitter a month ago, and it works well
i think it would be great buzz tracker - brandonace, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Twitter just the name sounds like it's for teenyboppers.
- copyland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0within seconds isn't fast enough. I need to know this within microseconds. In fact, if you know of a site where they tell you in advance, that would be better. People's buzz is often THAT critical.
- AROZ, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1You just think you want it until it becomes inconvenient.
- andrewcsayer, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Terraminds has a pretty sweet twitter search http://terraminds.com/twitter/
- jerseygardner, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1^_^
- somewhatfrank, on 10/10/2007, -10/+3I agree. Twitter offers alerts and updates as things are happening. It is a lot quicker than writing a full blog post and therefore acts as a buzz tracker for the latest news. It is web alerts 2.0. Opening up real-time search is a smart move.
- dareiff, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1With the help of twittersearch.com (or another site, Google doesn't index fast enough) you can find out what people are talking about within .. well, seconds. It is *the* buzz tracker...
I can't believe they left out David Troy's twittersearch from this article.. - ChrisRo, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2Oftentimes, I've seen news break on Twitter first...even before it hits the blogosphere.
Real-time search will only hasten the process. - BarbaraKolbe, on 10/10/2007, -12/+1;-)
