- unusualbob, on 07/10/2009, -0/+10More likely scenario:
HAI GUYS
R U WANT CHAT?
and of course the whole 'I accidentally the <noun>' meme will cause it to crash entirely. - chuffdogg, on 07/10/2009, -0/+10This is the third time I have heard that announcer woman on a technology related video. Her speech pattern is driving me crazy. Inflection all over the place, does anyone else get annoyed by that?
- skoles, on 07/10/2009, -3/+11Soon they'll be learning out language via the World Wide Web.
"Yo, homies. What's crackin? This looks like a fresh place to kick it!" - tonycomputerguy, on 07/10/2009, -0/+8When it learns to read lips, I suggest dismantling it's brain, one cartridge at a time.
"Daaaaaaisy.... Daaaaaaaaaaaaisyyyyyyy...." - doublefelix, on 07/09/2009, -0/+6What will those computers think of next?
- anaclagon, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Something worthy of being on Digg's frontpage.
- prisoner24601, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3I'm sorry Tony. I can't do that.
- DarthLamp, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3Too grammatically correct to be from the internet.
- enantiodromia, on 07/10/2009, -1/+4you accidentally the entire social skills :(
- Morphine7399, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2Apply this technology to project natal and you have a human keyboard on top of the controller.
- enantiodromia, on 07/10/2009, -4/+6my son learned the ASL alphabet by using youtube + touchscreen PC. he's 3.
- EverybodyPanic, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2That video was full of gang signs. The police should investigate.
- unusualbob, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2It may be used in a realtime scenario when communicating with a deaf person who is unable to speak. They may want a translator that can be used to turn signs to speech and vice versa. This way a user who does not know sign language can communicate with a deaf person with ease.
- pospro, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1one step closer to Arnold ripping off his organic casing if you ask me.
- BrokenVisage, on 07/10/2009, -1/+2It has begun, I mean.. *does stuff with his fingers to fake sign language*
- MattZed, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1A la Transformers...
- andrewh7, on 07/10/2009, -2/+3If you can see a computer's virtual sign language, why couldn't you read text? What would be the purpose of a computer displaying pictures of sign language?
- kamikaze134, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1Good point; maybe for the deaf & illiterate? :-)
- mysql101, on 07/10/2009, -1/+2According to the video, the computer could sign with only 35% error rate.
- flarn2006, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1ASL is useful when you want to talk to deaf people! (I almost said dead people, lol)
- Black6x, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1There was a joke about this on Everybody Loves Raymond
Ray: Remember that time you arrested that guy for flashing gang signs? And you kept talking and talking and he just kept flashing gang signs? He wasn't flashing gang signs, was he?
Robert: No.
Ray: What was he doing?
Robert: He was... being deaf. - richirwin, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1JOHNNY 5 IS ALIVE!
- LittleGerms, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1The Singularity is Near...
- Gcharestiii, on 07/10/2009, -0/+0That is a good question. I don't know.
- nateyo, on 07/10/2009, -0/+0@andrew
dude what kind of a comment was that? - 68024, on 07/10/2009, -1/+1Translation: soon all tv signers will be out of work to be replaced by a computer animation...
- imme40, on 07/10/2009, -0/+0i can see the realtime scenario with a mobile device, but if there is a computer around that can translate sign language into text, why wouldnt they just type the text?
- homercles337, on 07/10/2009, -1/+1Anyone that knows anything about computer vision and supervised machine learning are just going to yawn. :O Im surprised something so simple wasnt done back in the 80s.
- andrewh7, on 07/10/2009, -6/+5Nice job bragging. Why don't you try teaching your kid some humility so he can be better than his parents? Hopefully, there will be a sign language class in his elementary school since you couldn't teach him something that would useful. When he fails math, tell him that a kid that can multiply and divide isn't impressive enough for a Digg comment board.
- kamikaze134, on 07/10/2009, -3/+1It's called an accent; English is clearly not her native language.
- Krissam, on 07/10/2009, -6/+4Skynet is described as being a revolutionary artificial intelligence system built by Cyberdyne Systems for SAC-NORAD. According to Kyle Reese, Skynet "decided our fate in a microsecond: extermination." It launched a nuclear war which destroyed most of the human population, and initiated a program of genocide against the survivors.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -7/+1too short, didn't watch
