- mohamedmansour, on 01/01/2009, -2/+71No email, phone number, 50 dollars for unlimited bandwidth for EVER, sounds like a scam indeed. Like seriously, the person who buys this server is a complete idiot. And they even advertised that it is a 15 gig connection! 15 gigabit pipes is like have 15 carriers, lets say they got a 99% discount on the bandwidth (we all know that is not true), it will still cost them cost them 1000+ a month.

- rnawky, on 01/02/2009, -0/+44Reminds me of this web hosting I saw. $7 a month and "unlimited" storage space and bandwidth.
I spoke to a representative and said I was going to archive every linux distro and planned to use ~10Tb of space doing it.
Then I said I would contact every linux distro developer and tell them to remove every download link and instead use mine, thus resulting in God knows how much bandwidth, probably 50Tb a month to be safe.
Then they ended our chat :-/ - inactive, on 01/01/2009, -1/+32Is there anyone who has used the service that could maybe give us a bit more info? I'm pretty sure its a scam but I don't want to be too quick to pass judgment.
- Trapper, on 01/02/2009, -0/+30Sounds like a scam.
The bandwidth costs would drive them out of business within a couple of months. No sane business, whatever their political views on file sharing would set this up.
Has anyone considered this could be a honey trap, to get some detailed records on what "customers" are downloading?
Avoid! - bryson430, on 01/02/2009, -0/+27Wow, the RIAA/MPAA are really thinking outside the box these days.
- protogenxl, on 01/02/2009, -4/+30It's A Trap
[Admiral Ackbar ASCII to Follow] - spyd3rweb, on 01/02/2009, -11/+35Rules 1&2...
- Akairenn, on 01/02/2009, -0/+23I applaud you, sir, in keeping up the fight against horrible corporate abuse of the word 'unlimited'.
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -3/+24No, your ISP's Usenet server just sucks.
- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -1/+20Hmm, it says 98 out of 100 left for first customer offer thing on the bottom. I guess they already got an easy 100 bucks in their pocket.
- twiztidsinz, on 01/02/2009, -2/+20Neither VPN nor torrents are illegal.
That's like saying "Driving on the road is illegal because Drunk Drivers do it." - arunforce, on 01/02/2009, -4/+22Oh and just because you use BitTorrent it must be illegal?
- megaton, on 01/02/2009, -0/+17Do I smell... a honeypot?
- mlwarrior, on 01/02/2009, -0/+17Step 1: Get people to pay you 50$ for "lifetime" usage of VPN service.
Step 2: Get RIAA to pay you for IP addresses.
(already profited) - solistus, on 01/02/2009, -0/+16Because the article that made it to frontpage explains that it is most likely a scam?
A better question would be, why is the title misleading? It reads as an announcement of the offer, not an investigation into that offer's legitimacy which is what the article actually is. - tburke261, on 01/02/2009, -0/+15Their doman was registered on 19 December 2008, and is set to expire in a year. They also use an anymous WHOIS reg. Not exactly confidence inspiring....
- CalcProgrammer1, on 01/02/2009, -5/+20I have this other thing, it's called patience. It's 100% free, just use your existing connection, a public tracker, and you get your files free. It isn't super fast, but it's free and it isn't a scam. It doesn't involve any stupid private club membership nonsense or having to pay for stuff. If I was going to PAY for something, I'd buy the real, legal copy! The whole point of torrenting stuff is to get it free, paying for Usenet/private trackers/weird online scams like this is a waste of money.
- greenlight2001, on 01/02/2009, -1/+16POWERUSER! GET THE TORCHES!
- ousthouse, on 01/02/2009, -0/+14I bet you're very pleasant at all-you-can-eat buttets.
- reed311, on 01/02/2009, -5/+18No, but why on earth would someone pay to be anonymous to download legal files?
- sputza, on 01/02/2009, -2/+15I use VPN to connect to my office PC and my home office PC. I must be a criminal now. You sir, are an idiot.
- 4rp4n3t, on 01/02/2009, -2/+15VPN is illegal now?!
- mlwarrior, on 01/02/2009, -1/+12mmmmmm... all-you-can-eat buttets
it's like a buffet, but with female asses. - inactive, on 01/02/2009, -14/+25I've got something better than lifetime anonymous bittorrent. It's Client/Server instead of Goon-2-Goon and it's called Usenet. $24.99 gets you ALL the bandwidth you want at the fastest your connection will support.
Sounds good! - onimusha115, on 01/02/2009, -1/+12I like how you can get anonymous service even tho they ask for payment via credit card or paypal which will both be linked to the customer and be held in transaction records on both their end and the credit card company. I know there is really no other way to make a payment anonymous besides making a cash deal in a dark alleyway, but really, handing out credit card numbers is far from anonymous.
if only it were real tho, 50 bucks for a lifetime connection.......one can dream - foofightrs777, on 01/02/2009, -0/+10Obvious honey pot is obvious.
- arunforce, on 01/02/2009, -0/+10People who want to hide things from certain people, Government or not.
- dudefather, on 01/02/2009, -0/+9oh noes not the secret club
- twiztidsinz, on 01/02/2009, -10/+18Which rule is "Get the ***** back to 4chan"?
- 4rp4n3t, on 01/02/2009, -0/+8Ha. And five hours later, *still* says there are 98 left. Don;t forget to factor in the 50 buck or so they paid for their website though.
- twiztidsinz, on 01/02/2009, -1/+9No. This gets to the front page because its NEWS!
Quit ***** bitching because your lolcats dont make it to the front page. - TheSeeker11, on 01/02/2009, -0/+8Sorted. That nice man in Nigeria has accepted my payment, my private internets are on the way. He said the parcel will arrive in 7-10 working days.
- twiztidsinz, on 01/02/2009, -0/+8Maybe they just found a super cheap way to synthesize bandwithium.
- rnawky, on 01/02/2009, -0/+8Um you mean $58
- Projektorboy, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7$50 so that they can hit the checkmark on "Activate Protocol Encryption" is a delightful scam.
- jeremymccurdy, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7It does, but it requires something else, send me 50 bucks and I'll tell you.
- Memnochxx, on 01/02/2009, -1/+8Doesn't matter.
- wibambau, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7Good for the lifetime of the company.
- thizzlebot, on 01/02/2009, -1/+7I kind of like using torrents for free
- Wreckage, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6Until a court order forces them to give up their records.
At least you might get your 50 bucks back - Legoman513, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6Does it really take that much investigation to see that something is a scam?
- middlecon, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6Ok fair enough...Interpol...Scotland Yard....whatever flavor you pick.
- chewbie, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6 The service is anonymous as in it doesn't log your online activities. Buying this service is perfectly legal
- RobbieF, on 01/02/2009, -1/+7Peerguardian: Free.
- jeremymccurdy, on 01/02/2009, -1/+7Bittorrent can't even come close to matching the speed you get over Usenet. Even with private trackers. It's worth the relatively low price for the amount you can download in a month with it.
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -2/+8You're paying for the bandwidth.
And also, I use it for getting TV shows mainly, if that's truly "illegal" then you better get the Government of Alaska onto me. - brucer69, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6"Please allow up to 24 hours for your order to be processed"
Yea right. This just keeps people from asking questions when their logins don't work as they run away with their money.
sure sign of a scam. - Yage2006, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6lol this is some funny sucker bait.
I am sure it will be lifetime of the company and they could have a thousand legit reasons for closing.
Like oh the riaa/mpaa came at us too hard sorry we have to close thanks for your support. -
