- Nullifidian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll bet money that you'll not be able to fast forward through the comercials.
- wilsonics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Questions is, are they IPv6 ready? Maybe they should look into a VLC type stream for future expandability & platform independance.
- 9enisP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a step forward, but who the hell wants to watch short clips of episodes that they can just download and watch on whatever platform they want. I'll be damned if I can be satisfied with a 3 minute clip of South Park.
- blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you pay for the show, you can get no commercials at all.. I hope so.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why am I not suprised that Comedy Central had the cajones to begin the movement of iptv to the mainstream.
- brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool! IPTV is getting more popular day by day. This is finally some quality technology news... only on digg.com
- zwilliams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope IPTV/narrowcast becomes more and more popular and that more specialty shows are developed for specific groups. Hopefully it won't hit a burst like the .COM or as the video game industry is going to soon.
I'd love to not have to pay outrageous cable bills. Its bad enough a lot of people are paying $50 a month for cable, and then each show has almost 8 minutes of commercials, and then you have those stupid overlays stations are using. - QuorumCall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They should at least try providing a full length show to see what kind of response they get--picking a new clip every 3 minutes can start to get annoying.
- dragonmortal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Will it work on Linux?
- lws07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hopefully Motherload isn't like MTV Overdrive and is playable on machines other than Windows, blah.
- Rndm_Tngnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MTV = Viacom
Comedy Central = Viacom
Sayin'. - gaspero1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Hopefully Motherload isn't like MTV Overdrive and is playable on machines other than Windows, blah."
If the same morons that developed Comedy Central's current website are involved, you can bet it will only work on Windows, since their current site doesn't work properly in anything but IE6. - Wolfman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not as cool as we thought when we got our hopes up before clicking the link, but still I say it's a (sorta) step in the right direction.
- geoboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting. I never would've thought that Comedy Central would be the network to try and do something like this. I guess someone there at headquarters woke up and smelled the coffee realizing that less and less of their demographic (teens/young adults) are watching TV and are instead spending more time on the internet.
Well, kudos to Comedy Central. If they can successfully pull this off they'll certainly be ahead of the game. - bruce42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1looks like rubbish, what most other networks are already providing, just to a slightly larger degree...
says will consist of mainly short content, no halfhour shows etc..
-bruce - Nesh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Damn, you're not going to be able to get episodes there.
"...snacking of three to five minute clips is really where the audience is right now.
If they only knew the truth...
On a brighter note, the 6 original IP-only programs might be decent. - craigtheguru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As long as its not using some draconian, proprietary media player I'll be happy.
- jdotter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool
- LeFrenzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Man it won't even work with Firefox 1.5 that's crazayy
- jawsomemax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0im glad that IPTV is being recognized by large networks, can only help (or hurt depending on how you look at it) the future of IPTV
- AnotherName, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1best network. ever.
- h0lyHandGrenade, on 02/20/2008, -0/+0Wow, another MTV network.
- skyhighrockets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0motherload.com says it has been registered for one on 1&1's customers.
looks like that might be where its going to be. - Darth_tater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0daily show.
colbert report

southpark
friday night stand up
if they have tose shows then im gona be REALY happy
otherwise i get pissed....
but seriously.... this is good.... - xenlab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm not into the proprietary player as hinted in the article, maybe they'll team up with apple and put some of the content on iTMS in h.264
- tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It makes perfect marketing sense. And the fact that it got dugg to the front page probably means it will be successful.
- G-RaZoR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^ you mean G4 is.... Just kiddin... This is cool news, I'd also like the History Channel, CBS, Fox, and FX.
- cantxsay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmmmm a future for "STARVIN' WITH LOUIS" perhaps. I am gonna make some calls in the morning.
www.starvinwithlouis.com - Olegboksner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oleg Boksner unveils www.standupfly.com the independent comedy standup channel.
www.standupfly.com
(check it out , its a work in progress, dont bitch about the links, more nyc clips comming soon) - freemdoom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Probably not Mac compatible, like MTV.
- deviationer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1WTF. THEY ARE CLIPS. NOT THE WHOLE SHOW. ***** THEM AND ***** THAT.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool. I wanna see some Drawn Together.
- diggerphelps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I plead da fif!"
- persecuted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fantasitc, just another reason i can live without cable.
- Linuxrocks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Comedy Central is one of the best stations. I don't see how you could screw up stuff you already have. They have South Park, Mad TV reruns, Daily Show, Colbert report what else could you want?
- lws07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gaspero1, I know, wtf is up with them! Some Overdrive stuff is available On Demand, but that's not exactly the point of IPTV.
- AliBomaYe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I really hope its not windows only like MTV and VH1
- laughterkillsme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Aside from the Daily Show and Colbert Report ... Comedy Central is crap.
- jj555298, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0SECKSY
