- umdigger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Yes I hate Comcast too. But really, I just hate anyone who charges an arm and a leg (or $30+) a month for medium speed internet.
- honkyman5000, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16It's COMCASTIC!
- RamezaniK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15I for one don't hate Comcast (yet). I just got Comcast a week ago and my internet is pretty fast. Much faster than when I had Cox. I got free installation too. The tech that came over was quick: he had everything installed in less than 10 minutes. He didn't fall asleep on my couch either.
- cambrown99, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Cut the guy some slack--overcharging people is tiring work!
- travis08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Just a quick question. How do you know this is even real? Anyone can record someone sitting on their couch and claim it's a service call.
- deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Welcome to web 2.0. It doesn't have to be true as long as people want to believe it.
- apache2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I would let him sleep and them maybe he would wake up in the middle of the night wondering where the ***** he is
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Comcast may suck, but I kind of feel for the tech. Nobody should have to wait on hold for an hour. More than ten minutes should be unacceptable. Besides, he was sitting right next to the air conditioner. When you sit next to the air conditioner, you're going to sleep, no questions asked.
- triforcer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8i hope the guy doesn't get canned, i mean people get tired and nod off when they have nothing to do and are forced to sit and wait. anyways does anyone know the name of that song? it was pretty catchy.
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8generally, they call in when they need to get a modem activated.
- TellarHK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The funny thing is that he fell asleep on hold with the office. When Charter installed my DVR, they had to call into the office and exchange a bunch of codes from my new set top box with the dispatcher or technician on the other end of the line, and it took them about 20 minutes to get the damn thing working, and that was with a person immediately reachable on the other end of the line.
I don't blame the -guy- for this, I blame the -company- for putting him on hold for a damn hour.
FYI: Charter's DVR sucks ass. Worst. Interface. Ever. I'd rather have a goddamn commandline. - nacs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not saying the tech is blameless but that tech guy spent *an hour* on hold with the central office. If I had to wait on hold for an hour while sitting on a couch I might fall asleep too.
- djgump35, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10that is too good, As a cable employee, I would hope to never garner such attention.
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12..YouTube is down retard.
- searchengine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4These two are also related to the video...

http://betapundit.blogspot.com/2006/06/comcast-tech-caught-sleeping-on-job.html - strangeguitar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The MPAA found out that the guy that posted the video had violated copyright law. Apparently, posting videos of people sleeping is owned both wholly and in part by an un-named major motion picture mafia. The music however, was provided by an artist on an independant label who appreciated the free advertising.
- Sofa_King_Jank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I once called the Comcast monkeys to my place to fix the horrible reception on my TV. 5 minutes after the technician left he returned to my door knocking furiously. I opened the door and he said that he needed something sweet due to his blood sugar level...blah, blah. I gave him a third of an apple pie. I then stood there and watched this guy devour the entire pie in several mouthfuls in my doorway. He handed me the empty pie container, turned around and left without a word.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I have to call ***** on this one, all you see is the guy's leg!! How the hell do we know its a Comcast dude? Now watch as I get buried for speaking the truth.
- DWatch, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5that made me giggle
- ralfyx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Youtube is down just for maintenance. They are much bigger than digg, and have a lot more users online, so there is no chance to take that down.
Just look at the charts: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?compare_sites=digg.com&range=6m&size=medium&y=r&url=www.youtube.com - thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Digg is starting to regurgitate stories left and right, it's pathetic.
- markder, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Haha.. the same thing happened to me when I moved into my apartment last year. The guy came and while waiting for the cable box signal to come in, he fell asleep on my carpet AND started snoring.
- danvuquoc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'd let him sleep as long as he wants, as long as my problem gets fixed.
- schapman43, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I fall asleep at work on a regular basis. It's nice to take a nap every now and then.
- apache2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2right there with you man, I also had the @home service which I might add kicked some ass
- Life2Death, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree. Charter must have some rule that makes interfaces harder to use than anything on the face of the plan net. On our basic Charter Box we have to hit at least 3 buttons to view and change a channel, and to view the guide near the channel we are on, we have to hit GUIDE then punch in the channel number we're watching, since it doesn't automatically center on what you're tuned in on...
As far as the DVR box is concerned, holy crap! 150 button presses to find/view a channel or just to surf. And their demo box at the headquarters was glitchy and crashed! - andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've only had 2 experiences with Comcast (when I lived in a Comcast area). When I had my cable modem put in and when I had a High Def box put in.
Cable modem went fine. The tech really knew his stuff and was a hard worker. Gave me a new line and went out trekking through the snow, around the block to find the connection box. Even left me extra cable if I wanted to move the cable modem around.
The High Def box was a nightmare / comedy fest. The guy wanted to staple the cable from a back room to the rec room instead of running it across the drop ceiling, I would have no part of it. Then he claimed he didn't have a ladder or fishing tape to fish the cable across. So I fished it for him. Then he wanted to hook up the High Def box to the TV via the composite cable. So I hooked up the cable box the correct way for him. He had no idea was an optical connection was and wanted to hook up the left / right connections to the back of the TV. Sigh... just leave it please, I'll find a TOS link cable later. And then came a bill for an extra $25 high def hook-up. Which I went ballistic over and told them exactly what happened and how the guy they sent not only used my tools, but had no idea what the heck he was doing. They dropped the fee.
But it's the same with any service company. There are those that know what they are doing, and those that are just along for the ride and paycheck.
Let me tell you about Mediacom cable and Directv ... - wstrucke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3$49/month in columbus ohio for basic cable (30 channels) and "high speed" internet
if you want "standard" cable - no movie channels, just the '70 channel' package with "High Speed" internet - it's ONLY $74.90/month.
What the hell??? This is why I don't have cable tv or internet at my home. This is a HUGE rip off! - strangeguitar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Whoa! You should watch what you say about Fair Game. The Scientologists are watching. I'd hate for Digg to get sued because of your flippant disregard for copyright ownership.
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While this does showcase the unprofessionalism of both Comcast and what was probably an independent contractor, I still can't help but feel a little bit sorry for the tech. He was probably being over-worked. Though, the possiblity of him having partied too hard all night the night before is still there.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Video is down so I can't see right now but is this guy really a Comcast tech? Most of the time the big cable company's use 3rd party contractors for this kind of stuff.
- ekeup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude, if you didn't check the cables before having Comcast come out, maybe your girl is better off with the Comcast guy...
j/k man, but still, check the cables first. - ekeup, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If he's a contractor working on behalf of Comcast, he's still a Comcast tech.
He's being paid to represent Comcast. If you outsource or contract out, that's no excuse. - Momoru, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nothing to hate about Comcast, I've had them for 5 years now (kept the same IP the entire time) the internet has been down maybe a total of a day after all that time? And most of that was from one incident where they accidentily turned off my service. To their credit they fixed the problem quickly and even credited me some money.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Comcast commercials are sooooo lame!....Comcastic, where did they find or make up such a word.
And as for this Comcast Buffoon falling asleep its too hilarious... should use him in a Verizon DSL commercial..
"Comcast sleeping again on the job? Then go for Verizon DSL... faster and always awake" - travis08, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Yeah it's funny, for as seemingly smart and intellectually independent the tech savvy crowd seems, we easily become a blind mob. Basically a commodity of smart cows.
- davidv, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4yeah dood, youtube, which uses 200 terabytes of bandwidth a day, was dugg to death :P
- StephnDolenc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2comcast killed techtv
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Comcast tried to tell me they couldn't hook my modem up because they didn't know what store I purchased it from and therefore could not add it to their database. After I explained to them (both the CE and his HQ contact) to just add the freakin MAC to their database, everything will work.
They also wanted to take my PC(s) apart to put THEIR own NIC in... I told them no way!, and then they wanted to use their install CD... I said no way!... I told them just to hang out and watch , and all they needed was the MAC to put into their database, and not their crappy hard/software.
The CE was shocked that I was on their network without the use of their junk.
So just say NO! to Comcastic Software / Hardware.... - Cbeck527, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3urs didnt get on the front page because it is links to ur lame-ass blog!
- Tiak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@Sofa_King_Jank
Damn them diabetics and hypoglycemics for wanting to live and knowing when they're about to pass out! He should burn in hell for that. (Yes, it was incredibly rude, but it seems like that would've been a pretty extreme case and the guy was too busy thinking about self-preservation.) - bradtwitty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I wouldn't have a problem with a cable guy taking a nap on my couch, if he really felt that he need it, then I wouldn't care. I think that we sometime forget that "these guys" are people just like you and me.
Ask yourself this, if a cable guy looked thirsty while he was working on your connection, would you offer him a drink? - stealthninjaman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Real talk-- I had a small problem with my net connection a few months back.
Comcast is the only cable ISP where I live...so it's either them or Verizon. Anyways, I wasn't home when the tech came...but my girlfriend was. This bastard tried "talking" (getting her phone number, asking her out etc) to her while standing in my room!
Now, normally if I guy approaches my girl I wouldn't care much (it happens) but c'mon...respect a man's house!!! She wasn't very happy about it...I'm guessing that's why she told me. Needless to say I called to voice a complaint...the dude's supervisor acted like he was genuinely upset....the whole situation was crazy. On to what the solution was, my modem was plugged into one on the ethernet ports on my router instead of the "internet" port. That's what I get for authorizing Halo parties when I'm not home.... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"$49/month in columbus ohio for basic cable (30 channels) and "high speed" internet"
I wish I had that; we gotta pay $90 here in Phoenix :*( - Jaan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OKay, I used to work for a Comcast subcontractor ... when was the last time any of you worked 12 - 14 hours a day, 6 days a week? Right out the door we were scheduled for at least 9 hours work, without even scheduling a lunch break. They figured at least one person would cancel every day ... yeah right.
Over scheduled, over worked and over tired. That's the typical Comcast subcontractor. The Subs also get the crap work the official Comcast guys don't want to do, or quite frankly, can't do.
My buddy fell asleep while he was on top of a ladder doing pole work. Someone called rescue because they thought he had been electrocuted.
I finally left when someone complained to the labor department and they had a crack down. Comcast wanted us to fake the time sheets they gave us. Don't blame the worker, blame Comcast working their guys like slaves. There's a reason they can't keep good people working for them. - magus_melchior, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm thinking the guy with the camera decided to protect the tech's identity... he shouldn't be fired for having to wait too long for the company.
- shadgenki, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Paying about $45 in the Delaware and Philadelphia area. :(
- aztechclan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Actually, I like comcast. Go back to AOL if you don't like it.. fool!
- johouse05, on 02/23/2008, -0/+0I work for radioshack, we try to scam our customers....we use any excuse possible not to do a warranty replacement or fix
- templest, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I know people that work for the Comcast central office. Just so you know,
when you call them up, the person that takes your call is probably playing sudoku
or chatting on MSN while talking to you. Just keep that in the back of your mind
whenever they seem inattentive. -
