- pleem83, on 01/24/2009, -2/+61This just gave me deja vu. I live in Houston and the other day I was wondering how Comcast would pay for all the repairs. I laughed to myself that they would probably add a surcharge to everyone's bill. It doesn't seem so funny anymore.
- jdpugsle, on 01/24/2009, -4/+40Whats wrong with those fools? I would not blame the person if he sued them for misleading business practices.
- inactive, on 01/24/2009, -2/+32Knowing Comcast, they'd retaliate with a "suing for misleading business practices" surcharge.
- DrummerAndrew, on 01/25/2009, -1/+30Maybe if they didn't leave the cables strewn across the street and sidewalk... their competence is astounding.
- nJectid, on 01/25/2009, -0/+26***** comcast.
- UselessTrivia, on 01/25/2009, -0/+18I'm glad I don't have Comcast in my area. I don't think I've ever heard anything good about them.
- EllieElliott, on 01/25/2009, -2/+19bloodsuckers
- deathspeth, on 01/25/2009, -0/+15In a lot of areas in the country (USA) there is no other company to go to, you got to love the monopoly.
- KiraDnote, on 01/25/2009, -1/+14Like blaming it on someone else helps. They alone are responsible for their cables and the quality of the work done by them or on their behalf.
- lead2thehead, on 01/25/2009, -1/+13That's Comcastic.
- bossm4n, on 01/25/2009, -0/+11I'm in Houston and after Ike my Comcast was out for an entire month as well. I know people who were out much longer than that. When you called, they never seemed to have a clue or give a *****.
- inactive, on 01/25/2009, -0/+9No, if one company is providing a particular good or service with no competition, that's kind of the opposite of a free market.
- inactive, on 01/25/2009, -2/+10This just in! - News reader of Digg decides not to use Comcast.
- aanhorn, on 01/25/2009, -0/+7worst. ISP. ever.
- iceman0113, on 01/25/2009, -2/+8I would, but what about other people in the same position as you? This needs to be on the front page so others in the same area as you like pleem83 will not be screwed over by Comcast.
- ABip13, on 01/25/2009, -0/+6Yet you dugg it...
- Rogem002, on 01/25/2009, -1/+7And comcast wonders why people think they are one of the worst companies in the US (Source: Worst 100 companies in US, toplist).
In this case, I think the guy should seek legal advice (and putting it online is a good idea, as companies hate being publicly shamed) and sue them :) Not to mention change provider. - FreddieD, on 01/25/2009, -0/+5A quick glance at your comment history tells me that you really hate msaleem.
- JumboJ3t, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Comcast cares so little about its customers it's sickening.
My family purchased a new HDTV for Christmas, so I scheduled an HDTV box pickup at their stop-in building in Elmhurst a few days after Christmas. Even though I had an order number, when I got there, the lady told me that they were out of HDMI-Out boxes and I would have to come Monday morning.
The next morning, I got there at 9:30am and there was a handwritten sign on the door stating that the building was closed "due to a power outage." There were lights on inside-- my guess is that BOTH the employees who work there called in sick.
I came the next day (Tuesday) in early afternoon; again, they were out. I asked the lady why they were out again, and she told me that the boxes were in high demand and if I wanted one, I'd have to come first thing in the morning. I asked why they didn't just order a bunch more if they were in high demand (I'm not an economics major in school, but this seems pretty logical to me) and she had no answer.
So I asked her if I could call the office early in the morning when they open to check if they still had any boxes. She told me that they don't have any phones in the office, and if they did, they'd spend all day answering the phones and wouldn't be able to "help" customers.
They're a PHONE company and they don't have a PHONE in their building. It took a call to their corporate headquarters (and a call back) to get someone to schedule an installation free of charge. They missed their appointment.
***** you, Comcast, and the mess of wires you rode in on. - r0g3r, on 01/25/2009, -1/+6Maybe the ordeal was a hurricane evacuation, and damages, added with a month of no internet service, and possibly lack of other important services. Maybe you haven't been through a hurricane, but I've been through a couple, including Katrina. It's an ordeal, trust me.
- punkcat, on 01/25/2009, -1/+6***** believable
- ohsnaptuls, on 01/25/2009, -1/+5Come on Comcast... Even if it is only $24.95, the guy just went through something he didn't ask for, a natural disaster, and you pull this slick *****?
- SaladCactusKing, on 01/25/2009, -2/+6lol, people dig this guy down because they'd rather be angry and hate comcast than feel happy for the guy who got screwed getting his situation rectified.
- yoshman, on 01/25/2009, -0/+4"their competence is astounding."
Or lack thereof... - fuckingusername, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3***** comcast
- jgardner04, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3It was right after Ike that I left Comcast and went with AT&T U-Verse because of crappy service like this.
- jas168, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3The article is about being charged for making a phone call. The phone call was about being charged for service when he had none.
Yeah, the article was poorly written, but reading the guy's actual quote made things pretty clear. - hatepaste, on 01/25/2009, -1/+4That's why I call you, unoriginal.
- EZ66, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3Same problem I had after Ike, I have a dish now and a DVR that is worth having.
- Biscuitz, on 01/25/2009, -1/+4Same here, I've always had Roadrunner, I love it!
- ehaugan, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3I stopped using comcast about 3 months ago and dont miss them one bit. My bill was ALWAYS messed up and after a few months of them saying "it will be fixed on the next bill" I decided to leave. Good riddance
- chadsmith729, on 01/25/2009, -2/+5What nobody is going to mention the 250gig bandwidth restriction they put on and how ludicrous that is? I'm on Comcast and I can't believe I have a freaking limit of 250Gigs, yes that's a lot of bandwidth but that's not the point. The point is that if you violate that twice in 6 months they will cancel your account or force you to use business class (which the rate jumps to 4x as much in my area).
- DifferentAngle, on 01/25/2009, -1/+4Gotta love the university connection:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/397419538.png - hugeposuer, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2I'm from the Galveston area and this actually happened to my friend's father.
"Super pissed" comes to mind. - noumuon, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2are you daft? there are places where there is only one provider, period. my cousin lives in a small town in NH, their only internet access is dialup or cable. his cable company make comcast look like saints. guess what, though? if you want useable internet access (because let's face it, the web loses 90% of its usability with dialup) you have to use this company. well, this company has their routers overloaded, they constantly lose service, they charge ~$50 a month for 768k, they owe the town enough money that the town is bringing them to court, their staff is not qualified to run an ISP (their solution to P2P was to just flood the network with traffic, which essentially prevented everything except P2P), you go a couple months without service? you still pay the bill. recently new england got hit with a really bad ice storm, people were without power for weeks... some still don't have basic cable though and the internet, well, it's comparable to dialup now with better ping times. well the company decided they didn't want to hear people's complaints so they disconnected their phones and got rid of their email addresses. guess what, nobody in this town likes it and the town gets complaints all the time, guess what, since there is no other service for internet they have to stay with them or go without, and don't give me ***** like "well, go without!" you go without and then get back to me.
- nWnMusic, on 01/25/2009, -1/+3and a horrible ping
- DifferentAngle, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2It's in an office, so maybe they don't worry about it there.
- Achi11es, on 01/25/2009, -1/+3I call my cell phone provider Sprunt.
- travistubbs, on 01/25/2009, -1/+3It is amazing that it has been 4 months since Ike and those that have been affected by it are STILL having to deal with this bullcrap.
You would think by now Comcast would set up a special Emergency / Natural Disaster Service line for those affected by fires, natural disasters, and other abnormal situations to help assist those customers that are in life-changing situations.
Having to deal with service companies after something traumatic is not what people want to hassle with, especially those that have been dealt with either major damage or lost everything. - Canadianpj, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2And for the people where they have no choice but to use Comcast or nobody? What is your great advise for those people?
- istor, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2Did they charge you for that month?
- diemunkiesdie, on 01/25/2009, -1/+3They charged me. Called and complained a thousand times and they said they would give me credit later, they never did. I ended up canceling the service, but now I'm probably going to get it back next week. FIOS needs to come to Houston!
- Zippo, on 01/25/2009, -1/+3My roommate works as a Comcast tech support phone agent... and honestly, he can be a real dick sometimes... and he hates his job. He tries to cause as much ***** as possible while he works... the guy probably got him or another like him, who decided to charge him for the hell of it.
- dasunst3r, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2I think Comcast needs a dose of granny-gone-comSMASHtic.
- FrenchtheSmoker, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2I call mine Herbert.
It's makes me laugh because it's really Bob.
heh. - soulonfire928, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2It would appear that macweirdo24 has got it together more than you do
- Canadianpj, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1<clap clap clap> Better to watch TV than listen to you.
- noumuon, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1.
- duffman03, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Rizmaster hit the nail on the head with that comment.
- jas168, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1orly?
I dugg him down for impersonating the guy in the story. Duh. -
