- smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2great idea. i was thinking about designing a similar peer moderation system for a project i'm working on, where one can see content ratings based on a global filter, or based on a private network.
within my system though, i'd also setup ways to allow one to maintain multiple networks (similar to facebook--in a way--). for instance, political content would be filtered by a group of friends with which i have similar political leanings (perhaps a political user group), but for articles on web development and programming i'd want it to be filtered by a group of developers and users familiar with the field, likewise with graphic-design-related articles, music, etc.
another interesting idea i've been messing with is perhap developing something similar to last.fm where it pairs you up with people with similar tastes automatically, but instead of using audioscrobbler data, it would use your vote history to find people whose votes strongly correlate with yours, and you'd have the option of filtering by this "friends network."
there are many potential applications for collective filtering that have yet to be explored IMO. but as more and more people embrace Web 2.0 trends and concepts, more innovative web applications/services will start to venture into this relatively new territory. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Link to the site: http://www.corank.com/
- babychen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I am a user of the corank digg clone, and for some of us who like the social news concept without the technical complications of Pligg, this is good news. Pligg is great in many other ways - the open source community ensures that. But if you want to do a quick job with it, and plug it in on top of your regular site, corank is useful Lots of rough edges, but they are getting ironed out I think.
- zahorin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I like it also, and think, like egrp, its better to have just the UP vote.
- webcrunch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1While I somehow agree with you, I also think that when we say "create your own Digg" we all know what it means.
- zahorin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Sorry, like says josemu. :-(
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Smart idea!
- UberGeek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1stop spamming ur blog
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Been playing with it for a while. While I have no use for a Digg-clone (and if I did, I don't have the time or reach to make it grow to the point it would be useful), I think I can use this thing to replace my old Bloglines blog (not a regular blog, just a place where I dump stuff I use as a source for my other real blog). Agree with aaber this thing gives you more game than just creating "yet another Digg-clone". Was going to bury it as inaccurate, but it got my digg :-)
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1So how is this different than pligg???
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I love it.... EXCEPT!!! That it's not really a 100% Digg clone. It's the coRank software which is kind of cool and all that but there are things I don't like, such as the vote up/down thing. I like a lot more to have just the UP vote (digg), and then, if you think the story is crap, to have a pulldown menu with a few bury options, just like Digg.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0as long as you add the word "news" after "social" yes... :-)))))
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0As long as you add the word "social" before "news", yes ;-)
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I don't think we need more Digg-like sites, but I can see the point of being able to build digg-like features on top of your blog or for a community you're already part of, etc. And for the technically challenged, it's a better option than Pligg. I like it.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Digg is synonymous of "Social news". Yeah I'll digg you down :-P
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Checked the site. Looks promising, but the subject here is bogus. You don't create your own Digg.
You create your "social news" site. Digg is the pioneer. Ok, digg me down, but I do think there's a difference.
