- Unknown021, on 11/04/2009, -0/+18You're going to be able to trace trash I throw into a public trash can back to me? No thank you
- LBUCHA, on 11/04/2009, -1/+15i cannot wait for the day when my world is totally wireless. can't stand the octopus effect
- lambda, on 11/04/2009, -0/+13I liked the part of this story where I closed the tab.
- Subcrtical, on 11/04/2009, -0/+13Where. Is. My. Jet. Pack.
- glberns, on 11/04/2009, -0/+12If the trash cans can detect what you're throwing out, why not just have it seperate the recycling itself?
- ngaaih, on 11/04/2009, -1/+11a lot of this is already here...

By analyzing what is being discarded, if the wrong trash is placed in it, the smart trash can will throw it right back at you via whirling fans"
Pick up that can. - HiddenLondon, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Interesting stuff. Some potentially awkward questions re: civil liberties and how much information the State or an Organization should hold about any given individual.
- 3xen, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Cool pic bro.
- TheCollective00, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5I only put "economy" in quotations because our current economy's primary function is to keep cyclical consumption going, without regard to efficiency and sustainability, and to create artificial scarcity all for the sake of profit-based interests. That to me is a false economy.
- Joest23, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4We still have 5 more years to get hoverboards and self lacing Nikes, guys!
- Stoyanov, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4Dugg for Infected Mushroom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rp63Gl-_b2k
- lambda, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4Sick snapshot, amigo.
- lambda, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Just think of how many TV channels we'll probably have in the future!
- TheCollective00, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3So when everything in the future is automated to such a degree, are we still gonna have jobs? Or will we just create arbitrary jobs to keep the "economy" going even after we've already achieved abundance and automation through technology?
- Remmiz, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4So everyone dresses like douches in the future? Doesn't look so good.
- Krakerjax, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3I agree, the idea of wireless power is fantastic.
Though I'd like to point out, Tesla already had it figured out. Our not having it today is something people should be asking about. - nori0300, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3No hoverboards?!
- FitteMas, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Wireless orgasms?, nah i still want to plug that in.
- Puppytwo, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Well when we have robots to do everything there will be a brief moment where we wont need jobs. But soon after they will overthrow the human race and we will have to start all over again
- hpi5555, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Even better, they'll fear you.
- Jtizzle07, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3I bet it's OVER 9000!!!!
- lostmessiah, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3And throw if back out at you if you throw it into the wrong receptacle. I see lots more littering in the future...
- FitteMas, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Rad image, dude
- athinnes, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Your jacket is now dry
- Jtizzle07, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2If you didn't say it in the voice when you read it you fail
- FitteMas, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Most people would like to have a flying car, not only because its a cool idea, but also because it would be practical. The reason however that you feel a flying car should have been on the market by no, yet it is not is really simple. The idea of a flying car has been around in science fiction for a long time, and if you look at the properties of the them in most movies they all share a wingless design and no visible form of motor. This means, that no matter how small and how portable they can make the wings or engine of a personal aircraft, or the rotors of a helicopter, they will never be able to replicate your image of what a flying car should look like.
In order to make a flying car the way we all would really like them to look, and with the properties that we want like vertical takeoff and landing, hovering, quiet, safe and easy to use we need a concept entirely different from what we previously have used make something air born. Since the best ways to archive this so far is already called either helicopter, jet plane or rocket it will take some time to come up with something new.
Dont give up on your dream yet though, because there are ideas out there that might allow for this to come true in some not so distant future. Should we ever manage to create room temperature super conductivity for instance, it might be possible to make such a vehicle. Someone have also suggested that we use the Casimir effect that we recently reversed from an attracting to a repelling force, but that might be pseudo science as far as I know, the effect involves short distances at this point atleast. Better still there might be a whole range of ideas and possibilities that i haven't read about. I certainly would like to see one sooner rather then later. - Rwshilling, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2...those personalised ads would piss me right off. Especially if i got charged for the sms ad (which some companies do). I think i would throw my smart phone through that coffee shop's window.
Also, I don't think that city councils are going to go to the effort of having heated park benches... The damn seat is going to be wet anyway, if its raining. And why can't a bench just permanently have a shelter over it? Seems like a waste of energy to have these "robot benches". - Jiuzton, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2We gonna run run run
- the8thbit, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2In the future we will all wear sweater vests.
- Joest23, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Sweet capture, compadre.
- Remmiz, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2And still nothing good to watch!
- appleseed1234, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Superconductors, get that ***** done.
- charliecharlos, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1It hates you. It's the first step before the trash cans realize they can just throw all the trash at you and overthrow us.
Skynet is upon us.... and it will start with trash. - fiji5555, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1What?........awww I was hoping for the "graphic videos".....no pron here move along
- appleseed1234, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Yep, we'll get very few of these cool things, or we'll abuse and become dependent on them, while the government gains increasingly greater power over people in the name of corporatism.
Ah, sweet, sweet progress. - i23Photography, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1No... just shy of six years. Doc and Marty travel to October 2015.
- hpi5555, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Yep, it'll be be called the Matrix.
- masterstghm, on 11/06/2009, -0/+1I find it hard to imagine any of this taking place in any city in this state.
- fredclown, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1This is so true. People run out of gas everyday on the road. What happens if you run out of gas in the air? Or when air cars collide. Pray to God you aren't standing underneath one of them when it happens.
- lambda, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Signs say no.
- twinklyJesus, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1You have to buy Quaker oats.
- lambda, on 11/04/2009, -2/+3Like a helicopter?
- Rixta, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Not sure about the 'tracking my every move' bit.....Fine, I want to know where my kids are, but I don't want my wife to know I'm sitting in a bar with my buddies when I'm supposed to be 'working late'.
Hang on...[lightbulb]...business idea! REMOTE TRACKERS..... - OneOfNone, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Scary stuff indeed. I, too, pictured sitting half-frozen in that "outdoor office" barn and worrying that my trash RFID pattern got repetitive and unique enough to be traced back to me (the way search queries are).
- xMrAx, on 11/05/2009, -1/+1I'm in the future. 0_o
- megapartyboy, on 11/05/2009, -1/+1ain't gonna happen... look at what 3 terrorists can do with one plane. now imagine what a similar group could do with 100's of small, fast, airborne cars (aka missiles).
