- ProAm500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6my girl has a razr and hers dones the same thing
- Sal42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6is 2% really a tumble?
- Tonyisbad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I have the Razr, and the only complaint i have with it is ocansionaly i get a boiling teapot sound either on my side of the convo or the other person, you know that whistling sound made by them when its boiling. Other than that its a great phone. My Ex actually wants to buy it from me cause i'm now fixed on the Slvr... Who knows what will happen
- Robstah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I updated my firmware to an unbranded, generic version other than the Cingular version and I actually get better reception and no dropped calls. Maybe it's Cingular's firmware that has the issues.
- Marmot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The RAZR V3c is a CDMA phone, so it wouldn't work on Cingular's network (Cingular is GSM carrier)
- ap3xlabs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5no big deal. i think i'll be able to survive a week without razr's.
im really impressed with cingular and t-mobile though, having the balls to pull such a popular phone (their cash-cow) for a couple glitches. - cavicster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I have had one for a couple months and no problems here.
- uberphildo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I actually did have this problem. Had a RAZR for about nine months and it started shutting off and rebooting several times a day, at random. They sent me a replacement, and it was doing the same thing. So they replaced my battery and SIM card, and I think it has yet to do it.
The only part of my original, purchased RAZR that I have is the battery cover, and I doubt it's infected... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've had a razr for quite a while now and no problems whatsoever.
- snupples, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If someone posts an article and the headline and summary don't make any sense, it's not going to get dugg. Wtf is up with "HAR HAR" and etc.?
Dupe or no dupe, I'm digging standalone's post because I can actually read it without going blind. - Brutis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4wow, finally a carrier does something about a crappy phone. Motorola needs to get thier phones straight, quality sucks and OS sucks. They go for looks and nothing else. I have owned 1 motorola phone and dropped it once off an end table onto the carpet and that made the keypad stop working. I have owned 3 nokia's and could chuck them all across the room and they would still work flawlessly. They could even not lose a call while doing that. Nokia is my favorite for quality, symbian OS, and innovation; samsung is my runner up.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You can get an unlocked V3i right now for $284 US.
http://www.hi-mobile.net/Motorola/Motorola-V3iFully-Unlocked/
Of course, you don't get the carrier hand holding, but you don't get the carrier ***** about locking out features, either. - Ainast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Can anyone recommend a good cell phone from cingular. I've been searching but like the razr sucks hardware wise and everything cool is expensive as *****. Is it possible to unlock a RAZR V3c to run on cingulars network?
- Pile, on 10/12/2007, -6/+92% is to "Tumble"
as
Motorola is to "Quality" - BBX25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've had a brand new RAZR V3 for nearly a week, manufactured on the 28th, and I have not experienced any problems yet. Hopefully us Canadians don't get that problem too. :D
- tetro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This must be with the newer firmwares because I never had problems like those
- cliffzdude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5So, if MOT goes up 2% in a day is it on fire? No.
If MOT drops 2% in one day its not a "tumble".
For the love of God, using hyperbole to get a story dugg is not digg-able.
No DIGG, misleading verbage. - Kev585, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9http://digg.com/technology/Razrs_Pulled_For_Connectivity_Glitches._No_Blood_Spilt._Sorry.
- meyerj88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Are you sure the bad reception wasn't due to your former carrier and not your RAZR. You said that you switched to Sprint, so I'm guessing you had a different carrier previously? I get excellent reception with my RAZR. It is one of the best I've ever had in that respect.
I don't know the whole situation, but my guess is that your former provider was the reason for your poor reception. However, I could be wrong. - binarysemaphore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I just got Nokia 6102 as "so called free" upgrade from Cingular. Works great. I have owned sony ericsson, motorola in past. But nothing beats Nokia's signal strength. I didn't get any signal in my cube with motorola phones. With Nokia, I get 3 bars.
- meyerj88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm having trouble with my RAZR. It drops my calls and randomly goes to the home screen. I went to the Cingular store just yesterday and they said it wasn't just me. The good thing is that Cingular is going to replace it for free, so no big deal.
Many of my friends have the RAZR and they love it. IMO its the most appealing phone out there. I have only two minor complaints about it, 1) I wish it played MP3s like the SLVR or like those windows media phones can and 2) Some dust particles get trapped behind the screen and you can't clean it (this is barely noticable if at all when the phone is on, it's only noticable when the screen is off).
If I didn't have the RAZR, I would probably get a Nokia phone. I just replaced my old Nokia 3595 (which was 3 years old). That phone was a "beast." I don't know how many times I dropped and abused that thing and it still worked. I'm not really all that impressed with Samsung phones. I'm not a fan of their interface. Just doesn't feel right to me, but that's just me. - Brutis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3LGs break just as easy as motorola, sanyo's are cheaply made and do the same.
- mrrbob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Damn it I just bought one of these. Mine does seem to be fine though and except for a few details I like the damn thing pretty well. Maybe there are better phones but this one is so much better then the siemens s56 that I had before that, well, I cant help but like it.
Siemens had a better phone book though. It seems that the moto will only accept one number per record and the stupid siemens would accept many. Come on moto get with the program. I made sure to only get a year contract this time though. Go to Wal-Mart they got 1 yr deals same as everyone else 2 yr deals. So after 1 yr I will look into a pda phone that really does everything I will need, and be so damn complicated I will probably never really figure out everything about it. I want proper pop3 email and a qwerty keyboard on my phone. To hell with txt msgs. - ccann702, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I got news for everyone, every damn motorola drops calls and shutsdown for no reason. I've owned enough of them to realize that. I never learn my lesson, always hoping the next motorola will be different, i.e. "better".
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's funny, the motorola phones that I have owned (including my Razr) have been great. The one Sony I have owned, was a piece of *****.
- gpw11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Interesting, I was actually thinking of buying this today. The main reason is that the Razr V3c has very good signal reception in my house, whereas my old samsung sph640 gets no bars at all., Can anyone recommend an alternative or point the way to a site that reviews recent cellphones?
- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My brother has a SE T637 or something, and the pixels on the screen are dying one by one after only a year. I also think it feels very flimsy seeing how it is mostly made out of plastic. Also they can't use mp3s as ringtones, only MIDI, what kind of crap is that?
- glialisback, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't know how accurate this is. I bought one yesterday from Cingular. No problems so far.
- Ainast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3are Sony Ericssons really that good? I've been thinking about getting a 710a or whatever its called but I've never played with a sony phone.
- Robstah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2True. My dad's Treo 650 is the worst phone ever because of the dropped calls, but is a decent PDA.
- Brutis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2saw this on cnn, and they said that both t-mobile and cingular will exchange the phone for the new razr no questions asked. Some have the new one already, some will soon. So basically if you have a razr, go get the new one even if yours is fine.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Haha, in my experience Cingular causes dropped calls regardless of the phone being used. I actually got a rep to admit to me on the phone that the area I live (not in the middle of nowhere) has known problems and they are working on fixing it. That was almost 2 years ago. It's sad when a free internet service like Skype works 100 times better than the "service" I pay for every month.
- jaijai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Symbian-based smartphones aren't for everyone, kind of like *nux. They have a bit of a learning curve to them and have a couple things to figure out from messing with it. If you ever dive into the wide array of symbian programs available, you might like it and wonder how you got along without it. But the 6682, in particular, does have issues pertaining to low memory (lower than the previous generation 6620/6600, thus requiring more frugality with application handling) and poor firmware. An unlocked/unbranded one would fare better.
- weiran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Any phone by Sony Ericsson or Samsung. Forget any Motorola, they're all based on the same OS and all suffer from lots of bugs.
- ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You have a Razr with no scratches?!
wow. - Brian48216, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sony Ericsson makes amazing phones.
I have a Motorola SLVR though, not because I bought one, but because I won one. Can't argue with free!! - mpeters13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If by cellphone companies you mean Cingular, I call bs. Cingular phones drop service regardless of the manufacturer :p
- NJOlson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Same here have had it for a year and no problems at all. Best cell phone I have owned.
- commandar!, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2People that have used SE phones tend to love them because SE has by far the best UI of any manufacturer I've ever seen. My old T-637 is still my favorite cell phone, it's just a shame I broke the charger and couldn't be bothered to replace it. My roommate's using it now since his ancient SE was going out after 6 years or so, and he absolutely loves it.
They're great phones. Good, professional styling without being too bling and an interface nobody else can seem to touch. - waded, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've had mine for 8 months, carry it every day in pocket, and have dropped it a few times. No scratches, no major software, or reception problems. It's a fantastic phone, and fits nicely in pocket.
The OS does seem to have a spontaneous-reboot bug, possibly caused by letting the battery get so low the phone won't operate? I've run into this twice... after subsequently recharging it (while it's "off") it'll act odd and will reboot at random. It won't get better on its own. Both times after being confused for a week or more, I pulled the battery for 30 sec, and the problem disappeared once I reinstalled it. - roxas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1is that means they might finally open up there new software update site for motorola phones? im still waiting. .
http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/Motosupport/source/SoftwareUpdate.asp - clickmyface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree that calling it "stock tumbles over 2 percent" is really annoying.
Headliners seem to do this a lot. As an investor (not in MOTO, however), it annoys me a great deal. - chadseld, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sony Ericsson Z520a.
- djnick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i work at cingular. and i can say the razr is the hottest selling phone of all time so of course there are going to be manufacturing errors, they make so many millions of them. the razr is not a crap phone either. maybe today its a bit dated but it came out 2 years ago, and its still selling like hot cakes. as far as nokia generally they make good phones, but they also have a lot of crap too. they have come out with nothing innovative the last few years. and last month we had more nokias returned than motorolas. everyone says the motorola ui is more userfriendly while not locking out advanced features. nokia ui is too retarded.
also forgot to add if motorola is such crap, which is samsung so quick to copy the "razr" style phone and "slvr" style phone? the only thing these manufactures can do it add pointless megapixels to there cameras and call them better. I have yet to see anything better - joerodriguez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lg's are HORRIBLE
the only types of phones i havent head anything bad about yet are sanyo and samsung - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im lucky im smart enough to know how to update the firmware on my Razr, because after doing so the reception and call quality are untouched by anything else
- jdgtrplyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now everyone can go to Sprint and get their "Blade" phone. Samsung actually did an excellent job in designing the phone, it's certainly slicker than that silly Razr :D
- joerodriguez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what an utterly general statement
- kefs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you RTFA.. from CNN Money.. the sub-headline clearly uses the word "tumble". The submitter did not editorialize..
