Who's there?
Interrupting Pirate
Interrupting Pi.....YAAARRR! - yz101, on 11/18/2008, -3/+35A pirate was walking down the street with a big steering wheel sticking out of his fly. I asked him if he knew it was there and he said, " YAARRR, it's drivin' me nuts! "
- eco57, on 11/18/2008, -1/+27Ummm..../cough/....BitTorrent.../cough/
- kkring24, on 11/17/2008, -3/+24YAAAAAAAAARRR
- WordsnCollision, on 11/17/2008, -1/+18At least they're not hijacking cargo ships... yet!
- Diggsterrr, on 11/18/2008, -2/+18Dugg because I would rather pay $7 for a 720p DVD then $30-$35 for a 1080p Blu-Ray... Hmmm, maybe lower the insane prices?!
- baudbwoy, on 11/18/2008, -0/+11fromhe article is trying to discourage people to buying the discs, saying you'll miss out on many of the "special" features you would get on a real blueray disc....ummm so, I want the movie and thats what matters all the little pieces of crap they put in is usual ok cool but i buy or download the movie for the movie.
- bhuntsbarger, on 11/18/2008, -1/+11they need to quit being lazy and reverse engineer us some oil.
- luckyme77, on 11/18/2008, -5/+14What did the pirate say when another pirate called him a scallywag?
I know you ARRRGGHH! But what am AYYE?
hahaha...oh god I'm turning into my father. - MalaysianMafia, on 11/18/2008, -1/+10you can get 1080p AVCHDs from the internets... they just go on a DVD9
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/18/2008, -1/+10I'd be willing to pay $30 for an 1080p Blu-Ray disk it I was guaranteed that it would run on any Blu-Ray player I want to watch the movie on, whether hooked up to my HDTV, connected to my PC, in my laptop, etc. There are so many complaints about compatibility issues, the AACS & BD+ encryption preventing legitimately purchased movies not playing, etc. that I refuse to waste my money on ANY encryption like that. If the only option for unencrypted DVD's is the pirated lower resolution ones then so be it. As long as that encryption is in use I won't be buying any Blu-Ray stuff.
- i88gerbils, on 11/18/2008, -9/+18720p is good enough for me!
- peaceninja, on 11/18/2008, -1/+9I visited the apartment of a friend of a friend and they had an entire wall full of DVDs. And they already have a shelf with a few dozen Blu-rays on it. And they were complaining that they couldn't pay for gas or buy food for their kids. Yeah I really don't have much sympathy for big companies charging a ton of money for their content but I also don't have much sympathy for people who support these big companies, especially within their financial circumstances.
- TheUngod, on 11/18/2008, -0/+7No no, chinese pirates. Yaaallll, Avasht mi halties.
- acmaurer, on 11/17/2008, -8/+14if the pirates were smart, they wouldn't waste their time with blu-ray. seriously, who buys it?
- Sentinel, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6They'd never too that, it would make too much sense.
- drey, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6let's see... $30 for 1080p or $3.00 for 720p... I'll take 10 movies at $3, thank you!
Prime example of economies of scale and the fact how MPAA artificially overpricing its disks. I wouldn't mind paying $10-12 for a genuine disk, but not $30 as they're currently priced at BestBuy and other retailers. - Zarchon, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6Everything I have bought has played on my player. None of my friends are having any problems either.
- imasuperDOTcom, on 11/18/2008, -0/+5This is on the front page on the top 10 list, and then a seperate digg is on the front page in the main stream.
uhh.... [sigh]. - clickwir, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4"if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is."
If the quality is the same, I don't give a ***** who's selling it. Who ever is cheaper. - ChayesFSS, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4western digital hd tv player and a subscription to giganews, it's already Christmas
- d1sturbdapeace, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4But doesn't it seem more..."grainy?"
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4Pirated gas for your pirated car.
- ken18, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5At least these pirates aren't stealing military tanks and massive oil tankers.
- scoottie, on 11/18/2008, -1/+4if they were Chinese pirates they would have lasers
- thbirdman, on 11/18/2008, -2/+5This has already been on the front page today.
http://digg.com/security/Chinese_pirates_crack_Blu ... - sideshowRAHEEM, on 11/18/2008, -0/+3Correction it's mkv2vob
Fois Connection + Usenet + 500Gig External HD + mkv2vob + TVersity = My own personal data base of HD movies streaming across my home network from my PC to my PS3 for free. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+4MKV2PS3 FTW!!
- MrBabyManSTFU, on 11/18/2008, -0/+3Correction it's FiOS
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 11/18/2008, -2/+5Correction I have an erection
- counterplex, on 11/18/2008, -1/+3Connection it's FIOS correction
- joshhan, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2But I think their argument is that they have to price them higher because of the piracy.
So which came first, the chicken or the egg? - CrackyJSquirrel, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2So, the recent surfacing of all these pirates, is this direct proof that the flying spaghetti monster is growing stronger? If anything it may explain the recent miscalculation in the global warming statistics.
- Ahnteis, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Article was a great advertisement for the Pirate version of the movies. :)
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -2/+4Yay for pirates and the Chinese!
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2First it was dvd's, now it's blu-ray, soon it will be cargo ship and supertankers. Then they will be pirating entire countries, then the world!
- DarkWhitty, on 11/18/2008, -3/+5i can barley tell the difference!
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -2/+4China doing some good? Finally.
Imagine the world if all the draconian copyright laws out there where enforceable. The gap between the rich and the poor would be a cultural one as well. Even bigger. - eatsleeptrumpet, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2Jinxed it.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-f ... - Ahnteis, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3> Turn them into MPAA? :P
How would transmogrification help?
Or, if you meant "turn them in to the MPAA"; why would the MPAA care about such good little consumers? - MrFurious2k, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2Until Bluray is able to be played in more portable devices, it'd be nice to be able to rip movies to your ipod or other devices. Bluray in its current form asks the user for an awful lot of compromises and in turn charges a much higher price tag. I personally like bluray, but I don't want to pay the premium for the lack of flexibility. I guess I want my cake and to eat it too.
- 3leggedHorse, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2MKV2VOB is a great app.
- Barackalypse, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2Its sad they're only 720p, once they're the original 1080p streams we might see the high Blu-ray disk prices drop much closer to regular DVD prices. You can't tell me a Blu-ray disk costs more than $1 or $2 more than a standard DVD does, but yet it isn't un-common to see the Blu-ray version of a movie cost $8-10 more.
- Ne007, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2"If the price is probably too good to be true then it probably is"
That statement makes no sense in this case. If you get the blueray DVD for cheap and you have it, then that's as real as good and true as you can get. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+3RTFA noob.
- Ahnteis, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2But Sony doesn't get THEIR share if you buy from the pirates. (Bluray license.)
- Ben174, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2@Oline61
oic.... and, ***** you. - inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+2I've been doing that for months.
- Betrayer, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2are they anything like the Somalian Pirates?
shouldnt we create a new term for electronic piracy... like digital piracy, or something to that effect.
anything that wont confuse or scare my grandma into thinking the worlds oceans are full of pirates would work. -
