- Aitese, on 04/22/2008, -1/+58What?!? A country with a BILLION people has more internet users than a country with about 300m???!? Amazing!
- whoreable, on 04/22/2008, -7/+49I'm sure the 3 pages they are allowed to load get alot of hits. Also where there is gold to be farmed, there will be a Chinese WoW player to farm it.
- Derfy, on 04/22/2008, -0/+23You gotta take into account that they have so many more potential users in China than in the USA.
- Neticule, on 04/22/2008, -6/+25I knew it would happen soon, I just cant believe they are still closed off from the rest of the internet, poor guys, they cant see icanhascheezburger :( lol
- psion01, on 04/22/2008, -0/+10Wow.
A whole country you say?
Every last one of them?
Gosh, I sure hope you aren't the kind of moron who generalizes too much. - toasterwaffle, on 04/22/2008, -0/+9220 million = 72% of American Population = 16% of Chinese population
(according to estimates of population by Wikipedia) - northernmunky, on 04/22/2008, -1/+9It always cracks me up watching the yanks ***** their pants just because China is gonna have their day as a superpower.
Grow up, every superpower that has ever existed has had their day and lost it.. Roman Empire, British Empire, American Empire.... China will have their day and eventually lose it as well.... - dilibau, on 04/22/2008, -3/+11actually, China has 1.3 billion people...
- misterteenwolf, on 04/22/2008, -4/+11good thing they're only allowed to view government pages. they'd probably be pissed if they saw engrish.com
- dagr8tim, on 04/22/2008, -2/+9So what their saying is that with more internet users comes more computers in use and thus more electricity being gobbled up. Not to mention most of china's power plants are very dirty coal power plants. Now we can blame Global Warming on the Chinese.
But on a serious note, why hasn't Asian pr0n skyrocketed? - wTheOnew, on 04/22/2008, -1/+8Grandpa, have you not been taking your meds again???
- MacParrot, on 04/22/2008, -0/+7I think China has always had more people
- abhiroop, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6Just came back from a trip to China actually. considering I'm Indian thats saying something. Also have you heard of this new sporting event called the Olympics? And I believe Fox News is the biggest propagandist in the world.
- northernmunky, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6Its true, even the mighty U.S., the biggest defender of world freedom wont let Taiwan be recognised as its own country.... and all because China is too big for them.
- punkcat, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6come on USA we can waste more time than china!
- northernmunky, on 04/22/2008, -1/+6我喜歡臺彎菜
- Jexie, on 04/22/2008, -0/+5They gained superpower status years ago, the US isn't kissing ass over there for nothing....
- legoalert33, on 04/22/2008, -3/+7News Flash: China has more people than USA.
- adriaaan, on 10/12/2008, -3/+7Shh guys, if we tell them, they will start talking Chinese everywhere like they own the place!
- GhostFreeman, on 04/22/2008, -0/+4I propose the two superpowers slap themselves silly until one of them gets tired and gives up.
- northernmunky, on 04/22/2008, -2/+6pr0n is illegal in China.... which is why I'm glad I live in Taiwan... its softcore just walking the streets. ;)
我愛台彎! - inactive, on 04/22/2008, -0/+3Bleh bad math.
/fail. - brufleth, on 04/22/2008, -2/+5Communism and socialism in this respect aren't really the right words. It is capitalism that has driven China to what it is. Companies get to define their business and manufacturing environment given they can pay the right government officials enough. It has a lot in common with the industrial revolution era in the US where super wealthy companies that had defacto political power set the rules for their own business and the rules for those working for them (mill towns, miner towns, etc).
Simply labeling them "communist/socialist" and claiming that's the reason is at least misleading. There are plenty of socialist countries where the workers have rights and where big business is much weaker. - Nahor, on 04/22/2008, -2/+5欢迎光临!
- vexingmodstwo, on 04/22/2008, -2/+4uhh.. DUH!
- Midnightbrewer, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2What's really amazing is that they have a geographical area comparable to the United States and yet manage to offer $10-per-month broadband without making excuses about how the country is too big and the roll-out just too expensive to make it work...
- Jalh, on 04/22/2008, -2/+4in other news, CHINA also pass USA in internet censorship.
- anoriega, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2Might as well be inTRAnet because of the ***** censoring..
- ProjectRice, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3Wrong, there is no letter L
rearn to engrish - northernmunky, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2ooops.. I meant 喜... leave it to me to type the wrong character..... jokes on me...;)
darn things too small...... - abhiroop, on 04/22/2008, -4/+6Its not that the Chinese are not lazy. Its because they're communist/socialist. India has a very similar infrastructure to China. Almost the same number of people. So why is China pulling ahead faster than India? Simple if a major manufacturing company were to come to a major city, and say we want to set up a multi-million dollar factory, there would be numerous protests, meetings, multiple layers of bureaucracy, etc. In China the people are told to move within a week and then building starts. Thats the end of it. No one can deny it because that is how a publicaly owned socialist economy works. Of course there is no doubt that the Chinese population work much harder, but it is at the crack of a whip rather than for personal incentive. The BBC panorama program has done numerous undercover documentaries of the living conditions of these workers. It is simply appalling.
- diggerphelps, on 04/22/2008, -2/+4lickloll
- OpNash, on 04/23/2008, -0/+2Ha, so what they still can't see a large portion of the internet because of censors.

- JangFei, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2你说:“我喜欢台湾菜”吧?“彎”还是“灣”吗?(我是第一年汉语学生)
- CrackyJSquirrel, on 04/22/2008, -2/+4Is this article even worth reading? I mean, this seems like information under the, "Duhhhhh" category.
- bc289, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3being number one in internet users is nothing to brag about. China would inevitably pass us given their huge population
- abhiroop, on 04/22/2008, -0/+2Have you tried "sporting" lets say the Palestinian flag in say Texas? Wait a minute, it wouldn't matter, they wouldn't know what all the symbols meant! In any case you're argument referred to China as being unfriendly to Tourists....why the sudden interest in Tibet?
- slantyeyed, on 04/22/2008, -1/+3nope, China takes the cake now along with India.
- NYC10004, on 04/22/2008, -2/+4You dont keep up with current events much do you?
