- russ3, on 07/06/2008, -0/+27Wow, maybe the title should mention its about copyright infringement. the 3strikes law im thinking of is a lot more serious than internet bans.
- Khast, on 07/07/2008, -1/+25This Charlie Angus is a great guy, though I hope that he is going to be enough to keep the lobbyists at bay... Piracy may be wrong, but making people lose everything they own for really minor offenses is just criminal.
A Fair Copyright law would be:
Individuals : To be required to purchase the media they downloaded, and pay nominal fine.
Businesses Using Products : Same as above
Businesses selling pirated products : Throw the book at them...and fine the ***** out of them. - Yatti420, on 07/07/2008, -0/+22I like Charlie Angus... Keep up the good fight...
- CabanaBoy, on 07/07/2008, -0/+13My vote for Charlie Angus, an MP that actually has a brain. Prentice, on the other hand, has a brain as well but it's shoved up his ass....
- iMike360, on 07/07/2008, -0/+13FYI- Charlie Angus is a member of the NDP
- einrobstein, on 07/07/2008, -2/+14If I had to purchase everything I ever pirated (+100 movies, +100gb of music) I would be $100,000 in debt.
- jamessavik, on 07/07/2008, -0/+9Its so easy to spoof other peoples addresses, you'll be having grannies and gov't agencies blacklisted.
This is a really stupid idea. - Spudster, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7The Liberals need to realize this is an issue that they need to get strong on. They're too pragmatic for their own good on this one.
With the NDP totally losing all credibility on the environment to the Liberals, the Liberals could do some serious damage if they adopted a left uniting platform that would draw traditional non-labour NDP.
Marijuana legalization (closer than you think, passed a BC provincial policy meeting with priority)
Net Neutrality + other internet issues
Carbon Tax
That's a winning platform for the Liberals both strategically and ideologically. - EmitStop, on 07/07/2008, -1/+7***** THE RIAA, MPAA, AND ALL THOSE OTHER GUYS I DON'T LIKE!
- Genecalypse, on 07/07/2008, -1/+5up with piracy
- aidave, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3I'd like that to happen too, but the Liberals are not making policy a focus of their public campaign.
They seem to be far too interested in "scandals" than in criticizing the Conservative's policies. If the Liberals would simply rail against the laws that the C's are trying to pass, then Canadians would rally behind them.
Unfortunately the Liberals say one thing, then vote another way. That is why they can't make policy a major issue. They are hypocrites.
It's NDP or Green that will get my vote. The Liberals are just too weak, and the Conservatives are just wanna-be fascists. - cwk1337, on 07/07/2008, -2/+5Finally, some good news for us Canadian pirates.
- adriantr, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3I was thinking the exact same thing!
- crossmr, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3So use the reply button and/or digg him up..
- taketheleap, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Charlie Angus = my new hero in Parliament.
I might move to his constituency just to vote for him...
... ok, maybe not. But hes still cool. - TubeDigger, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Charlie Angus is my MP! It's AWSOME to see him up on digg. I'm going to have to e-mail him! He is a good man. He is smart too, he is wholly not in favour of the Canadian DCMA. You should hear this guy bust out "I've been everywhere" By Stompin Tom Conners! Go Charlie!!
- Spudster, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2Unless you're in his riding, there is no way to vote for him.
- yivkX360, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1amen
- Jorin, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1As if the carbon tax brings credibility to the liberals. To me their "enviromental" policy looks more like a way to move money around than to actually make real changes.
- skidpro, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1ISPs wont do this, they will lose customer, you just swicth ISP...
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -1/+1Have to agree. I use a pirated XP simply so I can laod and play or use it on Virtual machines. Not because I didn't buy it, I did! (Want the CD key?)
You can't compare a user wanting to "get around" Microsofts crap key in and confirm online BS to a say a company in China pumping out 10,000 copies a week and selling them on ebay etc. (actual definition of Piracy)
Add to that fact I have had 4 computers in the time that XP CD was purchased (7 Years ago), expired CD key? yep! Have to call every time? Yep. So the best way around that BS is go to TPB and get a slipstreamed SP3 with answer file containing a key and validation hack. No more cd key, thanks Microsoft for tormenting me with that crap. - inactive, on 07/07/2008, -3/+2Look mate denying a silk suit wearing cocaine junky his afternoon fix with expensive whore is outrageous. I can't understand why you would deny someone that lifestyle.
- djclay, on 07/07/2008, -2/+0I agree with 'jamessavik' in his comment that government agencies would also be blacklisted. I think if this bill ever passed, every last government employee should be banned from the Internet. Even if they 'investigated' every report, overwhelming them shouldn't be hard with some good 'ole people power.
I wonder how long that would last then. - gkiltz, on 07/07/2008, -2/+0Most of Canada has only between 9 and 10 weeks of decent weather, including this week. I think there are better ways to use it than stating the obvious, don't you?
- Hyasynth, on 07/07/2008, -4/+0This article ought to read "Political nobody makes semi-interesting comments".
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -8/+2HI MOM!!
