- shahruz84, on 12/17/2008, -21/+255Will Digg Dialogg always be with politicians, or are you planning on incorporating other famous persons in the future as well (celebrities, technology pioneers, comedians, podcasters, etc...)?
- thumb_tack99, on 11/13/2008, -20/+205Interesting events are documented on Digg. Quite often these events do not have a conclusion at the time of publication or have a follow-up story that is not linked to the original story in later weeks. What are your thoughts on implementing a "related story" or a "follow-up" functionality to these types of digg submissions?
- YesImAChick, on 11/13/2008, -20/+184The comment section (including this one) is one of my favorite things about Digg. It provides hours of entertainment. Do you have any plans to add more features to it? For example, it would be nice to get some kind of notification if someone replies to your comment.

Last week at Denny's, I overheard Jay bragging to his friends that he puts a wig on you when you are sleeping and spoons you. Were you aware of this? - xParker, on 11/13/2008, -24/+150-favouriting comments?
-NSFW tag when submitting a story, or the digg community able to say it's NSFW. Maybe add a button beside share and bury that says NSFW.
-able to see if a story is a duplicate before you fill in all the information
-don't know how it would be done but changing the title of a story. Sometimes they are in all caps which is annoying or the title is completely irrelevant - DearSergio, on 11/13/2008, -36/+133I really enjoy the recommendation engine, what are your plans to enhance that in the future?
- ryleyleckie, on 11/13/2008, -24/+114Digg Local - this great idea has been mentioned in the past. Any progress on this front?
- nsanidy, on 11/13/2008, -25/+103Is there a reason that sometimes when viewing comments for a story there are LOADS of comments that are just at +1, +2, or 0 -- but when going to digg them up or down they automatically shift to their appropriate number of diggs? It's really irritating to see that a comment went from +1 to +346 all because of my one little digg or bury.
Are you going to fix this? - doublsh0t, on 11/13/2008, -17/+94This is more of a convenience suggestion which would improve the digg experience and overall efficiency. Hours after I've read various articles on the top 10, when I'm back on the homepage and I glance back at the top 10, I often can't remember if I actually dugg all of those stories or not.
As you know, for stories that are on the regular front page list, it's pretty easy to tell if they've been dugg or not since it says "dugg!" underneath it. However, I really like the little banner that appears which shows your friends have dugg an article--so I ask that you do not stop there; I'd love to see some sort of universal "dugg" symbol, maybe a matching little blue banner similar to the friend-digg banner that spans the other corner.
Here's an example of what I'm picturing: http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/2568/diggue2.jp ...
and an alternate mirror just in case: http://i38.tinypic.com/11jwwtj.jpg - ted_hosmann, on 11/13/2008, -45/+113Now that the Elections are over - what will replace "Digg the Candidates"?
- ccheath, on 11/13/2008, -9/+75a better version of this question would be (imho):
can digg create a known bugs page to clear up confusion on issues like this one? - hatgreeting, on 11/13/2008, -12/+55Any plans to implement stricter duplicate rules, or smarter duplicate detection?
- WITFITS, on 11/13/2008, -14/+56Will Digg be implementing more categories for story submissions? The current categories are often too specific, or no appropriate category exists. For instance, one can't submit a story about gaming in general (or a video game coming out for multiple consoles) without having to pick a specific platform (e.g. Xbox 360, PS3, ... ) or using "Industry News" which is rarely accurate in describing story content.
Related: Will we ever have the ability to submit stories under multiple categories? - WITFITS, on 11/13/2008, -8/+47As a follow up to this, has Digg ever considered linking to known cached versions of a story (i.e. Google cache) when a site goes down from the "Digg Effect"?
- DearSergio, on 11/13/2008, -8/+46The "Follow up" functionality could also be used to have a sort of Reply to a Submission feature. As in, people can submit articles that refute the original submission, or that add onto it.
- serif69, on 11/13/2008, -17/+52Can you please implement a feature that allows us to metamoderate or simply tag an item as miscategorized? There are often stories on the front page that are not only in the wrong category, but seem to have been strategically placed in the wrong category in order to get higher visibility, particularly political stories.
Also, there are a lot of people who revolt against certain sites continually getting front page visibility. I have personally seen people complain specifically about sites including (but certainly not limited to) The Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Cyanide and Happiness, xkcd, Cracked, and Gizmodo. It would be wonderful if we could block individual sites. - marcus1060, on 11/14/2008, -6/+31Can we see how many times a story has been buried, similar to how it works with comments?
Not necessarily seeing who buried the story, just how many times it was buried. - sodomojo95, on 11/14/2008, -6/+31What are the chances of Digg having an interview with President-elect Obama?
I think a Digg town hall conversation could challenge Barack with issues ignored by the mainstream media - TheVirus, on 11/13/2008, -11/+36Will we ever take power away from the power-users and give it to the community? Are there plans on implementing a better dupe checking engine/algorithm? I don't mind seeing old stories and subjects come back to the front page again, but when a power-user resubmits an article that didn't make it to the front page, using the same exact link/title/etc, I get very annoyed.
It seems that Digg caters to the top-tier users, what about us lowly peons? - markbosky, on 11/14/2008, -9/+29Why are there not stickers in the Digg Store?
- sockpuppets, on 11/13/2008, -23/+41Digg the Corrupt Politicians.™
- mrbradg, on 11/13/2008, -15/+33I really have no use for the recommendation engine, what are your plans to making it ACTUALLY useful? The idea is great but the recommended stories are almost never right.
- Thorpe, on 11/13/2008, -6/+24Any plans to offer an advanced search? It would be good to go deeper into the archive of content submitted to Digg.
- whitty, on 11/14/2008, -5/+22Similarly, regarding NSFW, it'd be nice if that functionality were integrated to have a "Hide NSFW" mode such that when I'm taking a break at work, I don't burst out laughing only to quickly scroll away from the offending story title.
- WITFITS, on 11/13/2008, -21/+35Can the bury button be added for stories on the Mobile Digg site?
Can digg/bury buttons be added for comments on the Mobile Digg site? - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -11/+21Websites that are Dugg up tend to get what some refer to as the "Digg effect" - when traffic on the site becomes so high that the sites themselves go down. While it's good that the sites are getting the attention they deserve, is there any way to dull the negative side of this double edged sword?
- drgmdp, on 11/14/2008, -3/+12or maybe just remove shouts? let the recommendation engine rule
- YesImAChick, on 11/13/2008, -14/+22Palin would be classic though. Please invite her.
- str3ama, on 11/14/2008, -6/+12will the shout system be fixed anytime soon? Right now the shout system basically serves as a tool for spammers to spam their stories in rapid succession to gather diggs. The change from Digg as a social news site in to a more social friends type network was never fully completed, and the fact that you can't shout actual messages to large groups of friends - without having to attach a digg story to it proves this.
Is there plants to fix the shout system so as to limit the number of shouts from certain users (eg: targetting those who send out excessive amounts of shouts) and also will there be a way to send just a message to large groups of friends. Also there needs to be a better way to organize and sort friends, right now you allow unlimited friends - which is good, but then you cap the amount of people you can shout to - which kinda defeats the purpose. What you should do to avoid spamming, which I'm sure you're concerned of, is to limit the number of shouts a user can do each day - and make it so that you can do 1-2 shouts to all your friends a week, that way it limits mass spamming. So basically revamp the shout system. - AsSubtleAsABrik, on 11/13/2008, -6/+12Speaking of the recommendation engine, often I browse the stories on the front page and look at the top ten. Then I move to the upcoming section, but if I'm on a comments page, it only goes to recommendations in that category. I think it would make more sense to just always go to the main page of upcoming when you click it, then you can navigate to a more specific section if you wish.
- TheVirus, on 11/13/2008, -4/+9Speaking of the recommendation engine/upcoming section. Can you place the 'most recent - most matches - most diggs' in the same order that non-recommended stories are? 'most recent - most diggs - most comments'.
- sockpuppets, on 11/13/2008, -13/+18He pretends he's asleep, it's part of the game.
- HallenbeckJoe, on 11/13/2008, -9/+14What about international versions of Digg?
Especially a german one? We have alternatives to digg here, but none has a decent interface. - joestump, on 11/14/2008, -3/+8The bury button a story probably could be. The problem we've ran into with the digg/bury buttons on comments on the mobile site is real estate.
- karmastic, on 11/17/2008, -2/+6Digg advertises that when you work at Digg, you reduce your CO2 footprint. How does Digg calulate its energy usage?
- nosecohn, on 11/14/2008, -6/+10...or running its own cache for stories once that get a lot of diggs?
- KMcG, on 11/13/2008, -8/+12How Is digg still looking to spend the latest round of venture capital it has raised? When can users expect to start seeing the benefits from digg's expansion as a company?
- whitty, on 11/14/2008, -5/+9I was under the impression that usually that happened simply because that many people dugg the comment since my last refresh of the page. That said, in extreme cases where the story clearly isn't getting that kind of attention yet the comment digg count shoots up, it'd be nice to know if it was a bug or not a-la a known bugs page as suggested above.
- cheapotheclown, on 11/13/2008, -7/+11And along the lines of editing/formatting tools, can a button be added to more quickly insert pedobear/facepalm ascii art?
- CubFan185, on 11/15/2008, -2/+6Stephen Hawking please.
- karmastic, on 11/17/2008, -2/+5Does Digg plan to meet the San Francisco LEED green building requirements for its new offices?
- ZigVicious, on 11/15/2008, -1/+4How make babby?
- AndrewDB, on 11/15/2008, -3/+6Kevin can you please address the fact that you guys simply refuse to add the "BLOCK A WEBSITE URL" to a profile?
For example if I want to block cracked.com or whatever from coming to the front page, I could do that?
This would stop all the bitching about DAILYKOS, Huffington Post.. etc.
Why won't you address it/add it? - recalcitrantid, on 11/14/2008, -3/+6if would be awesome if multiple articles about the same topic could be merged, perhaps also merging the digg counts
- Bukowsky, on 11/13/2008, -13/+16One of the main problems people have with shouts, is that ALL of their friends are shouting stories at them constantly... Despite whether or not you've already dugg the story.
Is there any way you could add some sort of option for us to automatically filter out the people who've already dugg the story? This way, I don't have to inconvenience my digg-friends with shouts that they've already voted for...
Also, if you put a limit on how many users I can shout at once... can you add some sort of counter in the shout box, so I know how many users I'm about to shout a story out too... therefore, I won't go over the 200 friend limit... ? - recalcitrantid, on 11/14/2008, -2/+5 Yeah, this is what I use as well, and it works OK, but I wish there was a way to indicate that you've read a story, regardless if you've dugg it up or not. Then allow for filters where you could only show stories you haven't read. The link color works fine as as long as you're always staying on the same computer and don't clear your history, but it isn't the best approach.
- boydean, on 11/16/2008, -2/+5Steve Wozniak?
- NoLibertarians, on 11/13/2008, -9/+12I would ask why it is virtually impossible to close an account and how many real active members digg has.. How many people once joined is meaningless
- rockon4life45, on 11/17/2008, -1/+4Why is digg so liberal and what can be done to let conservatives be heard without being buried into oblivion?
- ccheath, on 11/13/2008, -3/+6I bet you're getting the townhall confused with the dialogg
digg dialogg is where digg asks a prominent person questions (pelosi and gore so far)
townhalls are ... well i've spent too much time on you already
cheers -
