- HippyJM, on 10/14/2008, -6/+442And this will change nothing. ***** the MPAA and the RIAA. Try and find a successful business plan that includes passing legislation against the people they want as customers. Here is a hint: STOP PROMOTING ***** MUSIC AND YOU MIGHT MAKE SOME MONEY!!! How hard is it to understand?
I stopped at a few chain stores on the way to class 2 weeks ago to pick up Tom Morrello's acoustic album, under the name of The Nightwatchman. No place had it. 2nd solo CD, and they didn't carry it. Lucky for me they had a full stock of the New Kids On The Block' newest CD (yes, I am serious). ***** YOU! - OfNumbers, on 10/14/2008, -3/+322Orangutan Mom doesn't care :)
- DeFex, on 10/14/2008, -1/+183"Counterfeiting and piracy costs the United States nearly $250 billion annually, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce."
HAHAHAHA
I am sure all those kids with warezed photoshop and fashion idiots with fake designer apparel would REALLY go out and buy the real thing if they couldn't get it free or cheap.
They probably count every album downloaded which is instantly deleted due to being crap as well. - kocurejd, on 10/14/2008, -3/+164***** the RIAA!

South Park always puts things in perspective. - TheIguana, on 10/14/2008, -1/+103What the heck are you talking about, this is full on authoritarian fascism.
- remotehuman, on 10/14/2008, -3/+98"Counterfeiting and piracy costs the United States nearly $250 billion annually, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce."
lets give them $700 billion while we are at it too. that will cover a few years, and everyone can pirate - DoctorSanctorum, on 10/14/2008, -6/+94I bet that baby orangutan was pirated!
- Knowone, on 10/14/2008, -2/+82Kucinich should have been the democratic presidential nominee. He's got the type of balls we need as president.
- Namco, on 10/14/2008, -0/+71In socialism, government owns production and property. However in this case it's the opposite - the RIAA, a private company, owns the government.
- AmazingSteve, on 10/14/2008, -2/+69And the piracy continues unabated. Money well spent. Free music FTW!!
- dizilbdog, on 10/14/2008, -2/+65I"m just wondering does anybody in the Government work for the people or is that an old school idea??
- brickbat, on 10/14/2008, -1/+59Conyers is such a POS. What happened to impeachment you *****?
Paul and Kucinich FTW! - rashawty, on 10/14/2008, -2/+59The war on drugs is going just as well as the war on terrorism.
- FreDre, on 10/14/2008, -0/+54Exactly.
In the mind of RIAA and MPAA executives, they see 1 download = 1 lost sale.
This law is just as effective as the war on drugs. - doctorgrim, on 10/14/2008, -5/+58***** the government!
- LongShlong, on 10/14/2008, -4/+55... Not like this. Not like this....
- noisician, on 10/14/2008, -1/+51yeah, the war on drugs has failed to stop drugs
however, it has put LOTS of people in jail - dougmc, on 10/14/2008, -0/+48You're assuming they can even count them -- which they can't.
The numbers are pretty much totally made up with little basis in fact. Which we all suspected all along, but this guy tracked down where many of the numbers they use did come from ...
http://arstechnica.com/articles/culture/dodgy-digi ... - kezia1, on 10/14/2008, -8/+56Is this suppose to make his approval rating higher?
Really, Bush? - ChocChunkOaties, on 10/14/2008, -1/+47Don't insult the Orangutan!
- PabloIV, on 10/14/2008, -1/+45Kucinich and Paul voting with their brains.
- FUR10N, on 10/14/2008, -3/+47before you guys go blaming bush for everything (as you've done in the past) Congress had to have passed the bill already. Bush is getting replaced but the Congress members will probably be here for a good deal longer
- geologist62, on 10/14/2008, -0/+42Don't forget Captain Morgan for the Pirate in you!
- rolf, on 10/14/2008, -1/+43Someone once ridiculed me for supporting both Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich because their ideologies are so different, but I replied that while that is true, neither would ***** the American people.
- marksism, on 10/14/2008, -4/+45They don't. That's the point. They don't buy it, the record companies lose money, and so they look to sue the ***** out of people in order to prop up failing businesses
- antipoet, on 10/14/2008, -0/+38Hey, whatever way you slice it, we've witnessed one of the biggest expansions of government ever. And under a president who promised less gov't and 'America for Americans'.
- chris4404, on 10/14/2008, -6/+43***** Metallica!
Even if you don't care about their music seed it!!!! - dirtmonkey, on 10/14/2008, -1/+38/rant - This ***** has to stop. The music industry is the biggest example of how broken the current copyright system is. Everyone wants a cut of the pie. Songwriter pens a tune and sells it, artist interprets it, label markets and sells it. Then until the end of time they want to take your money. It would be like building a home for someone and then every time it gets bought and sold, or someone enters your home, or just for people being able to see your house you would get a commission check. How about this, you write a song and sell it. End of ***** story. You sing and sign with a label...they sell it. End of ***** story. Once you have been paid for your intellectual property that is the end. This is just giving record companies and the music industry a license to print money.
/end rant
ps - ***** ASCAP, RIAA and and all the rest. We paid you for your stupid song/movie/game time to move on. - Apocrypha, on 10/14/2008, -6/+42How the hell is this jackass still allowed to even sign laws.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/14/2008, -6/+40What are you guys talking about? That's a picture of George W. Bush! :)
- theratdotus, on 10/14/2008, -2/+35ron paul *****!
- PeppermintPig, on 10/14/2008, -3/+36Cause the old socialist government wasn't doing enough.
- dalittle, on 10/14/2008, -2/+35How much has Sony, Universal, EMI, and Warner Bros (the RIAA) cost the American Tax Payer? Cheap estimate is $1 Trillion for something that is not the US Gov's problem (using their math). We should go after them for the money.
- the2989, on 10/14/2008, -4/+36Beer GOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Napster BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD - megaton, on 10/14/2008, -5/+36If you think "this will change nothing", you're obviously unfamiliar with the War on Drugs...
- jbob2000, on 10/14/2008, -3/+33Reading comprehension ftw.
- noupsell, on 10/14/2008, -3/+31reuters auto populated pic ftw
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -4/+31What we need is an "impeachment czar" followed by an "indictment czar".
- moviscop, on 10/14/2008, -1/+28ron paul, as always, has our back.
- Dweller99, on 10/14/2008, -1/+27he does not give 2 craps about his approval rating at this point. His last few months will be all about doing favors and securing his retirement.
- honestlypanda, on 10/14/2008, -2/+28I don't think he pirates New Kids or listens to them. Maybe missed his point? The recording industry spends millions to market and promote ***** music that isn't giving them a return, instead of promoting talented musicians and artists who put out decent work.
- FUR10N, on 10/14/2008, -4/+28congress is mainly responsible for this, not Bush
- GordonFree, on 10/14/2008, -5/+29Hey, FREE MARKET yes, when it's feeding money to the richest 1%.
When the people start getting too smart, the government has to step in. - buughost, on 10/14/2008, -3/+27What about Lars??
- xtmno3, on 10/14/2008, -1/+24I was just going to say something along those lines. It seems that every time I see some BS bill get signed into law I check the votes and Kucinich is on the right side of it.
